ADVANCED PUPILS

1. Program : READING CONTEST

2. Aim : To be able to read a short story or text in front of the


audience confidently.

3. Objectives : By the end of the program, pupils should be able to:

or texts in front of the audience confidently.

3.2 read chosen short stories or texts fluently with


correct pronunciation of words, intonation, word
stress and expressions in front of the audience.

4. Target : Year 3 pupils 2011 ( Advanced Pupils)

5. Implementation
Strategies : 5.1 Collect suitable short stories or texts.
5.2 Arrange a contest schedule.
5.3 Recruit contestants.
5.4 Start the ‘Reading Contest’.
5.5 Prize-Giving Ceremony during next week’s
Assembly.
5.6 Present a written report to the Headmaster and
Senior Assistant Teacher 1 in the middle of the

AVERAGE PUPILS

1. Program : READING ALOUD PROGRAM

2. Aim : To help pupils to read a text fluently with correct


pronunciation of words, intonation, word stress and
expressions in front of the audience.

3. Objectives : By the end of the program, pupils should be able to:

3.1 read a short text in a classroom environment.

3.2 read fluently with correct pronunciation,


intonation, word stress and expressions.

4. Target : Year 3 pupils 2011 ( Average pupils )

5. Implementation
Strategies : 5.1 Collect suitable short stories or texts.
5.2 Reproduce the texts in the form of reading cards.
5.3 Start the ‘Reading Aloud Program’.
-Intermediate level : 7 sentences and above.
- every pupils reads texts in English which are
related to the topic taught in that particular
week
according to their level of proficiencies.
- every sessions lasts for about 5 minutes in the
early
period of the English lessons.
5.4 Present a written report to the Headmaster and
Senior Assistant Teacher 1 in the middle of the
year.

4. Target : Year 1 pupils 2011 ( Average Pupils)

Strategies : 5.1 List out simple words or sentences that are
suitable for the pupils
5.2 Reproduce the words in the form of word cards.
