COURSE INFORMATION

• Project management is now a professional discipline, having its own body of


knowledge and skills. The project manager must understand the role of the project
in the organization, master project management tools/techniques and interpersonal
skills necessary to ensure that the project is completed within the time limit,
within the budget and to specification.
• This course will examine the importance of the project in the modern organization
and the role of the project manager in orchestrating the project to successful
completion. There are many software tools and techniques available to the project
manager and the course will explore these.
LEARNING OUTCOME

• To develop a critical appreciation of the role and responsibilities of the project


manager To develop understanding of the management techniques available to
project managers.
• To recognise the importance of formal procedures including contracts in
successful project management.
• To equip students to operate in the modern business environment where the use
of project management tools and technology is pervasive.
By the end of the module a student will be able to:
• Critically assess the procedures and systems necessary for successful project
management.
• Apply the technical and commercial knowledge and skills to manage a project
successfully.
• Appraise the importance of people management and team work.
• Recognize the role of financial accounting and control in the profitable

PRESENTATION

1. The students will be divided into groups of 3.


2. The presentations will start at 9 a.m.
3. The duration of each presentation will be 15 to 20 minutes.
4. The preceding group will ask questions to the succeeding group
and will get marks, depending upon the validity of the question being
asked.
5. The students are supposed to submit the synopsis of the material
beforehand.
