Membership Development Officer Job Description

Job Title MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Reporting To Project Director

Location Fife Diet offices (Burntisland) with additional travel


throughout Fife as required, occasional work from home
when appropriate.

Start Date Subject to Funding, the post will start as soon as possible
after April 1st 2011 and run until 31st March 2012.

Salary £26,500 per annum

Hours of Work 37.5 hours per week including regular evening & weekend
work

Additional Information 3-month probationary period, access to a stakeholder


pension scheme (no employer contributions, however this
is reflected in the salary), holiday entitlement is pro rata
28 days.

Role Profile

We need a highly organised, enthusiastic and motivated person to build and


develop our membership.

The team work very closely together and this position reports directly to the Project Director.
This is a new position in the project and will play a vital part in the new strategy for
supporting Fife Diet Branches & nurturing existing members.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

ESTABLISH FOUR NEW REGIONAL BRANCHES OF THE FIFE DIET


• Develop Membership Strategy
• Co-ordinate and deliver membership events
• Support branches to deliver their own events throughout the year
• Increase membership across a one year period to agreed targets
• Monthly evaluation & documentation of branch work: collate branch documentation of
events; photos, quotes, questionnaires etc

GROW NEW MEMBERS


• Attract new audiences via a series of outreach events e.g. shopping centres etc
• Prepare and post out new members packs and materials
• Posts out new recipe booklets to members throughout year
• Upload new members details from paper applications

NURTURE EXISTING MEMBERS


• Manage monthly membership email newsletter
• Update the Fife Diet website and Facebook with members information and new

• Excellent understanding of projects objectives
• Experienced in dealing with the public
• High level of computer literacy including social and new media

• Commitment to local food agenda

Desirable
• Knowledge of Mailchimp, Facebook, Wild Apricot, Wordpress, Excel and Powerpoint
• Knowledge of issues around food, climate change and sustainability
• Experience in participating in a similar grassroots community project

Experience

• Either public speaking or motivational work for change


• Using bottom-up approaches for encouraging and sustaining behaviour change
• Organising and running successful public events
• Experience in running projects that have successfully galvanised a high level of
community involvement
• Experience in providing information and advice to the public
• Experience in monitoring and evaluating projects
• Experience of using new media as a tool
