I had to laugh when I heard the story of two men who one day approached the legendary British
preacher, C. H. Spurgeon, and told him, “Spurgeon, we have reached sinless perfection.”
“Really? he asked.
“Yes,” they said, “We’re absolutely perfect.”
Spurgeon was holding a pitcher of water at the time, and he proceeded to pour it on their heads.
When they began to react like any other sinners would, he found out just how perfect they were.
You see, the people who walk around claiming to have reached sinless perfection are victims of
one of the most powerful yet subtle sins – pride. None of us will reach sinless perfection in this
life. In all of human history, Christ alone has been sinless.
“If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.” I John 1:8

Granted, something dramatic happened when we received Christ. Before we were Christians,
we were under the control and power of sin. We went along with whatever our sinful natures
dictated. But in Christ we were changed. The Bible says we became new creations in Christ; old
things passed away and everything became new (IICorinthians 5:17).
But that isn’t to say we still don’t struggle with sin or that we’ll have no lapses. When we fall, we
can go at once to Christ for cleansing, according to His promises in 1John 1:9.
However, if we’re sinning habitually and persistently and without sincere confession,
something’s terribly wrong.
The Lord’s promise to His people…
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

Because Jesus Christ is our righteousness…step forward confidently in the freedom from sin
that Jesus Christ has won for you. “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11)

Have a great week. I hope to see each of you this Sunday.

Brad Seevers, Eph.3:20-21

Food to Haiti, Part 1 Upcoming Events

Mar. 18, 5:30-7:30 pm
Easter Special Offering: Lifeline Christian Mission
Goal: One pallet of food for Haiti, $2000 Saint Patrick’s Themed
Elementary Party
We have an exciting opportunity ahead of us with our
Easter Special Offering. We are teaming up with Lifeline
Christian Mission to send two pallets of food to Haiti to Mar. 22, 6 - 8 pm
help with their aid to that country. Each pallet costs
$2000. The first pallet in this effort is going to be Jr/Sr High Progressive
sponsored by the missions committee. The committee is Dinner
then challenging the congregation to match this with
funding a second pallet which will cost $2000.
Mar. 26, 9am – 1pm
This is an organization that we have been supporting
monthly through the missions committee for years. On Jr/Sr High Sold Out
top of this, it is exciting to do a special project for an Retreat
organization that has had a presence in Haiti for long
before the recent earthquake. We know that this is
something that will bless Fifth Avenue as much as those Apr. 16-17
in Haiti. Luckily there is a second step to this effort after
raising the money. Read here next week for details. CIY: Believe (Jr. High
Conference). We will
