KEY POINTS TO BE OBSERVED

1. Candidates should have secured 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e. B.A./B.Sc/
B.Com (Home Science)/BCA/BBM and/or in the Masters Degree or any other qualification
equivalent thereto. However the candidates belonging to all other reserved categories should
have secured 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
2. Choosing of Part-C subjects for entrance test is at candidate's risk. Subject eligibility will be
subject to verification later.
3. Candidates need not enclose Xerox copies of any certificates along with the application.
However, they are required to submit Original certificates / Xerox copies whenever asked.
4. The information furnished in the application will be verified with originals at the time of entry into
the course. Furnishing false information leads to prosecution and cancellation at any point of
time.
5. The mere appearance at the Entrance Test does not entitle the candidate the right to claim an
entry into B.Ed. Course.
6. Incomplete Applications and Applications received after the due date for whatsoever reason will
be summarily rejected.
7. Filled in Application along with enclosures kept in the specified cover should be handed over in
person or sent by Registered post to the CONVENER, Ed.CET-2010, Department of Education,
IASE,Osmania University, Hyderabad-500 007.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES OF Ed.CET-2010
A Common Entrance Test, designated as Education Common Entrance Test-2010 (Ed.CET-2010) will be conducted by the
CONVENER, Ed.CET-2010, Department of Education,IASE, Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500 007 on behalf of the Andhra
Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for admission into B.Ed. Regular Course in the Colleges of Education in Andhra Pradesh
for the academic year 2010-2011.
I. ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR FOR Ed.CET-2010.
Candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for Ed.CET-2010.
(i) The Candidates should be Indian Nationals.
(ii) The Candidates should satisfy Local/ Non-Local status requirements as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational
Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order 1974 as subsequently amended.
(iii) Educational Qualifications:
(a) Candidates should have passed / appearing for final year examinations of B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science)/
B.Com./B.C.A./B.B.M. at the time of making the Application of Ed.CET-2010. Candidates should be required to
produce marks memo and pass certificate at the time of admission.
(b) Candidates should have secured 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e. B.A./B.Sc/B.Com (Home Science)/
BCA/BBM and/or in the Masters Degree or any other qualification equivalent thereto. However the candidates
belonging to all other reserved categories should have secured 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
Note: As per the GOMS No: 92, the candidates who passed B.E/B.Tech, M.B.B.S/B.D.S/B.A.M.S./ B.L/L.L.B/B.A.
(Languages) / B.O.L etc. and such professional courses are not eligible for admission into B.Ed course.
(iv) Age Limit:
The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on 1st July of the year in which notification is issued. There
shall be no maximum age limit.
II. SCHEME OF EXAMINATION FOR Ed.CET-2010
The common entrance test will be of objective type (multiple choice) examination. Candidate has to answer 150 questions
in 2 hours time.
Part-A: General English – 25 questions for 25 marks
Part-B: 1) General Knowledge – 15 questions for 15 marks
2) Teaching aptitude – 10 questions for 10 marks
Part-C: Methodology: Candidate has to choose one of the following subjects. It consist of 100 questions for 100 marks.
1) Mathematics – 100 questions for 100 marks
2) Physical sciences – 100 questions for 100 marks
(i) Physics – 50 questions for 50 marks
(ii) Chemistry – 50 questions for 50 marks
3) Biological Sciences – 100 questions for 100 marks
(i) Botany – 50 questions for 50 marks
(ii) Zoology – 50 questions for 50 marks
4) Social Studies – 100 questions for 100 marks
(i) Geography – 35 questions for 35 marks
(ii) History – 30 questions for 30 marks
(iii) Civics – 15 questions for 15 marks
(iv) Economics – 20 questions for 20 marks
5) English – 100 questions for 100 marks
Note: Part-A and Part-B is common for all the candidates irrespective of Methodology.
III. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE CHOICE OF SUBJECT UNDER PART - C

IV. MEDIUM OF ENTRANCE TEST
The question paper will be in English and Telugu except for English methodology. However, candidates opting to
write the Entrance Test in Urdu medium will be served with Urdu paper and such candidates shall opt
either Hyderabad or Kurnool as Test Centre.

Note: The Convener reserves the right to add or delete centers from the list of centres cited above.
VI. QUALIFYING MARKS:
The qualifying mark in the Entrance Test for all candidates (except SC/ST) is 37 out of total marks (i.e. 25%). For the
candidates belonging to SC/ST communities there will be no qualifying marks for ranking.
VII. RESULTS:
RANKING: Candidates will be ranked in each methodology in the order of merit on the basis of marks obtained in Ed.CET-
2010 examination. Where there is a tie in total marks, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In
case of further tie, the marks obtained in Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking.
In case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, they shall be bracketed for the purposes of
award of rank. At the time of admission into the course, age shall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the
bracketed candidatets and the older candidates shall be given priority.
The rank obtained in Ed.CET-2010 is valid for entry into B.Ed. Course for the academic year 2010-2011 only.
Note: Request for re-totalling or revaluation or personal Identification of scripts will not be entertained.
VIII. RULES OF RESERVATION FOR ADMISSION:
1. Local Area-Wise Reservations:
(i) Admission to 85% of the seats in each methodology shall be reserved for the local candidates and 15% of the seats shall be left
unreserved as specified in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations and Admissions) Order 1974 as amended in
G.O.P.No.646 Education (W) Department, dated: 10th July, 1979.
(ii) The part of the State comprising the districts of Adilabad, Hyderabad (including twin cities), Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar,
Medak, Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Khammam and Warangal shall be regarded as Osmania University-Local
Area.
(iii) The part of the State comprising the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari,
Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam shall be regarded as the Andhra University -Local Area.
(iv) The part of the State comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Kadapa and Nellore shall be regarded as the
Sri Venkateswara University-Local Area.
(v) In respect of State-wide Institutions, i.e., Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa vidyalayam, Tirupati, Admission to 85% of seats, in
each methodology shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to the three local areas in the State, namely Andhra
University Area, Osmania University Area and Sri Venkateswara University Area in the ratio of 42:36:22 respectively and the
balance of 15% of seats shall be left for the open competition.
2. The Local Candidate:
(A) A candidate for admission shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation to local area:
i) If he/she has studied in Educational Institution or Educational Institutions in such local area for a period of not less than four
consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or as the case may be first appeared in
the relevant qualifying examination.
ii) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic years, ending with the academic year in which he/she
appeared or as the case may be first case may be first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, he/she has not studied
in Educational Institutions, if he/she resided in the local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding
the date of commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he/she appeared or as the case may be first
appeared.
(B) A candidate for admission to the course who is not regarded as local candidate under clause (A) in relation to any local area
shall be as local candidate.
(a) If he/she has studied in educational institutions in the state for a period of not less than seven consecutive academic years
ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or as the case may be first appeared for the relevant qualifying
examination, be regarded as local candidate in relation to:
(i) Such local area where he/she has studied for the maximum period out of said period of seven years
OR
(ii) Where the period of his/her study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he/she has studied last in such
equal periods.

(b) If during the whole or any part of seven consecutive academic years, ending with the academic year in which he appeared or
as the case may be first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, he/she has not studied in the educational institutions
in any local area but has resided in the State during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local candidate
in relation to:
(i) Such local area where he/she has resided for the maximum period of the said period of seven years.
OR
(ii) Where the periods of his/her residence in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he/she reside last in such
equal periods.
( C ) The following categories of candidates are eligible to apply for admission to the remaining 15% of unreserved seats.
(i) All the candidates eligible to be declared as local candidates.
(ii) Candidates who have resided in the State for a total period of ten years excluding periods of study outside the State.
(iii) Candidates either of whose parents is in the employment of this State or Central Government, Public Sector Corporations, Local
Bodies, Universities and similar other quasi-public institutions within the State at the time of submitting the application.
(iv) candidates who are spouses of those in the employment of the State or Central Government, Public Sector Corporations,
Local Bodies, Universities and Educational Institutions recognised by the Government or University OR other competent
authority and similar quasi Government institutions within the State.
(D) If a local candidate in respect of local area is not available to fill any seat reserved or allocated in favour of a local candidate
in respect of that local area, such seat shall be filled in as if it has been un-reserved.

IX. SUBMISSION OF FILLED IN APPLICATIONS:
1. Passport size black and white photograph of the applicant taken not earlier than 1st January, 2010 are to be affixed - one on
the Ed.CET-2010 Application Form and the other on the OMR cum ICR Application Form.
2. The following are to be submitted in the order given below:
(a) Duly filled in Computer OMR cum I.C.R. Application form.
(b) Duly filled in application form.
(c) Acknowledgement card - duly filled in with address and methodology subject. Affix required postal stamps.
3. All the above said items be kept in the big size specified cover provided along with the Application Form.
4. The filled in Application form for Ed.CET-2010 should be submitted in Person or be sent by Registered Post to the Convener,
Ed.CET-2010,Department of Education, Osmania University, HYDERABAD-500 007.
5. SUBMISSION OF FILLED IN APPLICATIONS ONLINE: Applications also can be submitted online. However, a copy
of the application downloaded along with
(i) Two passport size photographs with name and D.D.No. on their back side and
(ii) A crossed Demand Draft (with name and address on its back side) for Rs.150/- drawn from any Nationalized Bank in favour
of “The Secretary, APSCHE", payable at Hyderabad, must to be sent to the Convener, Ed.CET-2010,Department of
Education,IASE,Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500 007 so as to reach on or before 29-04-2010 upto 5 p.m. For further
details visit www.osmania.ac.in/edcet2010 The applications submitted online will not be considered unless the concerned
demand drafts are reached on time.
6 . The Last date to receive filled in application is 29-04-2010 before 5 P.M.
7. Application received after the due date for any reason whatsoever will not be considered and the cost of application will not
be refunded.
X. GENERAL INFORMATION / INSTRUCTIONS:
1. The Convener or / and the Common Entrance Test Committee reserves the right to reject the application of a candidate at
any stage, if.
a) the application is incomplete. b) the candidate fails to satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions. c) false or incorrect
information is furnished. d) the entries in the application are not legible. e) the application is received after 5:00 P.M. on
29-04-2010.
2. Any change whatsoever, including that of caste/community status or category, shall not be permitted to be made in the filled
in application once it is received by the Convener.No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
3. The Convener is not responsible for non-receipt of application by the notified date and time for any reason whatsoever.
4. The Candidate should PRESERVE THE HALL TICKET to produce it at the time of test and later at the time of entry into the
Course.
5. If any applicant fails to receive the Hall Ticket two days before the test he/she may download from Internet/websites
www.edcet2010.com and www.osmania.ac.in
6. The appearance at Ed.CET-2010 does not entitle any candidate to be considered for entry into the Course automatically.
7. The rank obtained with the benefit of relaxation of minimum qualifying mark at the Ed.CET-2010 by any candidate, claiming
to belong to SC/ST category, will be cancelled in case the claim is found to be invalid later or at any point of time.
8. The selection of candidates and allotment to colleges will be on the basis of rank obtained at the Common Entrance Test and
other conditions laid down.
9. In any litigation, the party to be impleaded shall be the Convener of the Ed.CET-2010 only and this shall be subject to the
jurisdiction of High Court of A.P. The list of institutions for allotment of candidates with intake in each methodology and
category, as per reservation through Ed.CET-2010 would be released in the information Booklet for counseling in due course
and the same information would also be released on website www.osmania.ac.in/edcet2010
Note: For NCC / Sports the Certificates obtained in qualifying examination are alone considered.

PART - B: GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & TEACHING APTITUDE


1. Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate's general knowledge of the environment around him and its
application to society.
2. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and
experience in their scientific outlook as is expected of an educated person.
3. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring Countries especially pertaining to History, Culture,
Geography, Ecology, Economics, General Policy and Scientific Research.
4. Teaching requires certain characteristics like ability to communicate, ability to deal with Children, ability to recognise individual
differences etc., apart from analytical thinking and general intelligence. One who has these characteristics will be able to become
a good teacher after training. Questions relating to these aspects will be included to test one's teaching aptitude.
