B. Tech (CSE) – 8th Semester - Project – Winter Semester 2010-11

Guidelines for IN HOUSE PROJECTS

1. Team size of the project can be 1 to 3 members.
2. Students can avail guidance preferably from faculty of SCSE and SITE satisfying
the requirements of B. Tech (CSE)
3. The project can be done either in company or in the campus itself.

4. If the project is done at VIT, the students should report to their respective guides’
every day.
5. All the students should maintain a project diary and whenever they meet the guide
(atleast once in a week) regarding project, the students should get the signature of
the guide and they have to produce the updated project diary for every review.

Guidelines for Industry Project

1. The students should submit all relevant information about the company and their
External Guide information.

2. The students should replicate the project what they are doing in the industry or
they should show the demo of the project during the reviews and Viva Voce. If
they fail, a panel may visit the company to evaluate the project.

3. The project diary also to be maintained and it should contain the signature of the
external guide. Students should update their project status (through phone or
email) to internal guide periodically.

4. The students should submit a completion certificate from the industry/company.

For any reason, the duration will not be reduced.

5. The duration of the project is 6 months from the date of commencement of the
project in the company.

Other Information:
• Extra weightage will be given for publishing their work in the form of journal/
conference papers. The publication should only contain the names of the project
members and guide. If the publication includes any other name, weightage will
not be considered.
• The format of the project report should be as per the given specifications. Marks
will be deducted if the report is deviating from the specifications.
• Any malpractice like copying the source code from the previous projects,
redoing the same project done earlier will lead to cancellation of the project.
