FOOTBALL PROGRAM
3 YEAR PLAN
(2ND YEAR)
I. Offseason I (December to February)
A. Establish a strength program. Start “Off-Season I” strength
program.

a. Phase 1: (Frosh/JV) Mid-November thru Mid-December

b. Phase 2: Early January thru Early February


B. Assemble staff, including assistant coaches
a. Check football clinics and spring practices of local colleges for staff to
attend
b. Establish written goals for program. Forward goals to Athletic Director
and Principal.
c. Review goal-line defense (January), total defense, and passing game
(February) from last year’s game films. Decide on changes.
C. Review game films.
a. Finalize offensive, defensive, special teams, player’s handbook.
b. Develop detailed plan for Off-Season II
c. Conduct player reviews.
D. Send equipment off to be reconditioned.
E. Review academic progress of athletes. Ensure satisfactory progress.
Establish study help from school. Constantly monitor progress.

II. Offseason II (February to June)


A. Supervise off season II strength program.
i. Phase 3: Mid February thru Mid April

ii. Phase 4: Mid April thru Late May


iii. Lift-A-Thon Late May
B. Finalize spring practice schedule
i. Spring Football practice
ii. Spring Football Passing Leagues/Tournaments
C. Individual player development
i. High School Players Combine/Camps
1. Nike Combine
2. Frosh/Sophomore Combine
ii. Football 101
D. Review pass defense (April), running game (May), and 2-minute offense
(June) from last year’s game films. Decide on changes.
E. Check status of all return reconditioned equipment. Ensure that all
required equipment is ready for season and spring practice.
i. Make final purchases of new equipment
F. Hold meeting to explain team policies.
i. Freshman orientation
1. Introduction to possible incoming Freshman Scrimmage.
ii. Set up individual conference with all players with head coach after
spring football. Players must know where they stand.
G. Assist departing seniors with college prep such as: highlight tape, campus
visits, SAT/ACT testing.

III. Preseason (June to August)


A. Meeting and getting to know the players:
1. Team meeting (location TBD)
2. Recruiting meeting at junior high school(s)
B. Summer program:
1. Victory Camp
2. Weight lifting 3 days a week at Firebaugh High School
3. Passing league
4. Passing Tournament
5. Summer conditioning
6. Initial team meeting 1 week before first practice
C. Academic checks:
1. Grade checks immediately and every three weeks until end of grading
period, then every two weeks.

D. Players
1. Look in to summer camps for athletes.
2. Supervise pre-season weight and running program.
E. Staff:
1. Selecting assistants
