THE ANOINTING

“And it came to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and
his yoke from off thy neck and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” Isaiah
10:27

Many people are misled by the Christian counselor who has the necessary educational degrees,
intoxicating charisma and years of therapeutic experience, into thinking that this counselor will
be able to solve their problems and answer all their questions and concerns from a biblical
perspective. A Christian counselor with only the credentials cannot be an effective Christian
counselor unless he/she has one more attribute that will make all the difference in the world –
the anointing!

Anointing – (as Webster defines it) a: (1) to smear or rub with oil; (2) to apply oil to as a
scared rite esp. consecration. B: to choose by or as if by divine election: to designate as if by
a ritual

“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the Word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel,
saying, Not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit saith the Lord of hosts.”
Zechariah 4:6.

(might =strength, wealth or force; power =human ability) The Spirit is the anointing!

Isaiah 10:27 is a prophecy concerning the coming of Jesus and the anointing which is to rest
upon Him!

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of
counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. These are the seven
facets of the Spirit of God.

When God has anointed one to preach, He has placed His Spirit upon him – anointed him to
preach good tidings unto the meek, to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the
captives and opening of the prison to them that are bound. To proclaim the acceptable year of
the Lord, to comfort all that morn, etc. All this so the Lord might be glorified!
In the New Testament, Jesus applies the scriptures to Himself, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal
the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering sight to the blind, to
set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord” Luke 4:18-19

Again, it is the anointing that breaks the yoke!

Human wisdom, knowledge or traditions can do little to heal emotional wounds, cannot set
free those who are spiritually bound, restore emotional bruises to ones identity or cast out
demonic spirits. However, the anointing that was upon Jesus of Nazareth can heal all who have
been oppressed of the devil. Acts 10:38

As believers, we have received the “earnest” of the Spirit at the time of our rebirth; we must
continue in the Lord to be in the “Fullness of the Spirit” of the Lord.

Anointed Disciple Makers, we have work to do as we learn the Word, live the Word and Spread
the Word to the ends of the earth to the glory of God!

IT IS THE ANOINTING THAT BREAKS THE YOKE!
