Grand Master’s Message
Greetings one and all.

Now that Christmas is over, and we all hope that it was good for you all, we wish you
every success, health and happiness for 2011.

Many thanks to all those Lodges that invited me, the Grand Master and Arnold, to
participate at lovely receptions, with excellent food and fellowship. Nice to meet you all
on less formal occasions. Also thanks for the novelty gifts - they are treasured. Knowlton
Lodge # 28, Victoria Lodge # 16, Fidelity Lodge # 33, Alexandra Lodge # 59 held jointly and Golden Rule #
13 all celebrated with the Grand Master. Greetings were received from several members of both Odd Fellow
and Rebekah Lodges. THANKS.

Now comes the time to prepare for our 2011 Sessions in Granby on May 27th & 28th.. I hope for much less
stress and conflict. We should have the interest of all members and I truly hope it is so.

I believe all visitations have been completed for the Jurisdiction of Quebec and most of those for the USA.
Some sessions are due in April and May and I plan to attend these God Willing. There will still be Grand
Lodge executive meeting this spring.

Have a nice break to the Lodges that are in recess for the months of January and February. To those lodges
who brave the Canadian winters may your meetings be well attended and successful in promoting Odd
Fellowship.

''The owner of a golf course in Florida was confused about paying an invoice, so he asked his secretary for
some mathematical advice. She had graduated from the University of Florida so he felt she should be able to
advise him. He asked her, ''If I were to give you $20,000 minus 15%, how much would you take off?'' She
thought for a moment, then replied, ''everything but my earrings''.

In Memoriam
Past Grand Master and Past Grand Patriarch Oscar Gayton passed away on
January 15, 2011 in Lynn, Massachusetts. Brother Oscar was a member of
Beaver #6 and of Princess #4. He was also the Goodwill Ambassador for the
Jurisdiction of Quebec for many years.

The Wake was held at the C. McGinn Funeral Home from 3PM to 7PM on
January 22nd. Odd Fellows and Masonic funeral services were held. There
were over 70 Odd Fellows at the service, and a Patriarch’s Militant Honor
Guard was present at all times. Sympathies are extended to Oscar’s wife
Carol and family.

Words of Truth from President Barack Obama in Tucson, Arizona. ''We recognize our own mortality and we
are reminded that in the fleeting time we have on this Earth, what matters is not the wealth, or status, or power,
or fame----but rather how well we have loved and what small part we have played in making the lives of other
people better.''

DGM Thomas Barton; GM Ernestine Whipple; GChap Joyce Copping; and PGM Ed Copping travelled
to Lynn, Mass onJan.22 to attend funeral of Oscar Gayton. The chauffeur Ed was excellent and his GPS
helped guide and was good. Although the weather was very cold travelling was good both ways.

The funeral service by Oscar`s lodge was VERY well attended and very nice. The Masons had a service. Then
GL of Mass. held a service. After the services all were invited to the Hall for a banquet with all kinds of
delicious food. We toured the Meeting Hall which was steep and high stairs to a beautiful meeting room. It
was something to see the three-chair unit for NG & supports ;same for VG. They have simply beautiful and
original gowns-clean and not musty. They keep in showcases Jewels and news items downstairs where they
can be viewed by everyone, as well as pictures of interest .Many thanks to Ed and Joyce for making room for
me and for the nice drive, and tour of Macy`s store. We were warmly welcomed and had great fellowship. Our
sincerest sympathies to Oscar`s family, lodge members and friends. ew
