It was another great day at the Ansley in town nine
Editorial Assistant as 18 players assembled into four teams to battle
open it out for the coveted golden ale. Once again, all tee
times were booked with two players standing by and,
once again, two players failed to show, making it
necessary for the last two teams to play as
fivesomes and denying the opportunity to those on
the wait list. (more on this later)

11 UNDER GRABS THE GUSTO!
WILLIAMSON REPEATS!
Just like last week, the second group ended up the winner,
with Jim Williamson conspicuously a member of both
teams.(No doubt making the second tee time of some
value in future matches, or could it be that Williamson is
the lucky partner of choice?) Joining Williamson in
savoring the sweet taste of the bountiful barley were
Doug Gooding, Tim Martin, and Ron Majors. The
purveyors of the beverage of choice were Team 1
members Scotty Greene, Russ Jobson, Bill Benning,
and P.J. Wade who finished at only 4 under.

FOUR WAY TIE FOR LOW GROSS!

BENNING RETURNS TO FORM TO
CLAIM HIGH GROSS!
The back nine proved formidable on this particular
Tuesday, especially for the single digiters, as the best low
gross score of the day was 6 over, which was matched

: Tyber. At the other end of the spectrum, Bill Benning

PEARSON EARNS SHOT OF THE

DAY!
Lee Pearson did manage to put a little salve into his
wound by sinking a 30 foot putt for birdie on the last
hole to earn
Shot Of The Day honors. Oddly, no other shots were
reported
that were believed to be worthy of mention.

3 BIRDIES ADD TO THE TOTAL!

The Birdie Club added three tweeters to its total—
compliments of Russ Jobson, Lee Pearson, and
Richard Gilmore.

OTHER TIDBITS:
▪ It was another pleasant evening on the porch and
seemingly a more amiable group of participants as some

Brooks Cowles, 5-18-06 porch to let everyone know he was heading to Paris,
France, and would miss the next two matches. Tom
Thornhill likewise dropped by during a break from the
Ansley Golf Club’s grounds committee meeting where he
is representing the ATAG interests and is due to make a
full report to the Commissioner.
▪ “Metro Marty” Arnold was at it again, sipping his
chardonnay and eating a light salad while wearing
designer shades, and lacking only a scarf to complete the
Truman Capote look.
▪ Danny Morris let it slip that he had recently seen
ATAG —on pay per view—the gay cowboy flick “Brokeback
Mountain”. Morris assured everyone that he had not

Golf Tour “crossed over”, but did give it raving reviews. This
Ansley Golf Club raised the eyebrows of some players and caused others to

196 Montgomery Ferry Dr Old West sayings such as, “Ride’em Cowboy” and
Atlanta, Ga 30309 “Howdy, Partner”.

the Commissioner asked that each week one player take
