FROM FATHER RICH

During Lent we are called to fasting, prayer and almsgiving. We want to thank you for your par-
ticipation at the Mass or Prayer Service on Ash Wednesday. We are asking you to pray for the vic-
tims of the earthquake in Japan, for people in Egypt and Libya and for all people in the whole world
who need our prayers the most. Last weekend we started in our parish the “Operation Rice Bowl”
to help the hungry, especially the children. There are still some rice bowls in the back of the church.
Fill them with your spare change and return them on the last Sunday of Lent. Next week we will be
supporting the Church in Eastern Europe through the Annual Second Collection organized by the
Archdiocese of Chicago.
We thank again all those who participated in this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal and we ask oth-
ers to do it as soon as possible. The pledges are available in the back of the church. Please fill them
out and droop in the collection basket. We just received the final report for the annual catholic ap-
peal 2010. Our goal for 2010 was $57,367.20 and we raised $75,684.28 so our total rebate was
$18,317.08. Thank you for your generosity, God Bless You.
Some parishioners asked if and when we will cover the crosses and statues in our church. The
Order of Prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours and Celebration of the Eucharist 2010 says: “In the dio-
ceses of the United States, crosses in the churches may be covered from the conclusion of the Mass
for the Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent until the end of the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion on
Good Friday. Images in the church may be covered from the conclusion of the Mass for Saturday of
the Fourth Week of Lent until the beginning of the Easter Vigil”.
God Bless, Fr. Rich
ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
March 20, 2011
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Church in Central and Eastern Europe continues to make progress in its effort to
support spiritual renewal and growth in areas formerly under Soviet control. Newly acquired
religious and individual freedoms however, have challenged the Church in providing essential
pastoral needs for the people of this region.
The Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe funds seminary
formation, parish maintenance and scholarships to students for graduate education. These
students, both religious and lay people, have already begun to make an impact on those living in
this vast geographic and ethnically diverse area.
Your generous support of this collection will sustain the confidence and hope which our
brothers and sisters in Central and Eastern Europe have come to experience since the fall of
communism. On behalf of those who are in need, thank you for fostering the faith of future
generations in this region of the world.
May Our Lord continue to bless you and your loved ones as we strive to live with a deep
sense of solidarity for the needs of others within our parishes, our Archdiocese, and throughout
the Universal Church. Thank you.
Sincerely yours in Christ,

Francis Cardinal George,

O.M.I. Archbishop of Chicago

OD KS. RYSZARDA
W okresie Wielkiego Postu jesteśmy wezwani do pokuty, modlitwy i jałmużny. Dziękujemy Wam za
liczny udział we Mszy Świętej w Środę Popielcową i za wspaniały przykład ducha pokuty i nawrócenia.
Prosimy abyście w swoich modlitwach pamiętali o ofiarach trzęsienia ziemi w Japonii a także o
mieszkańcach Egiptu, Libii i o tych wszystkich którzy szczególnie potrzebują naszej modlitwy. W
ubiegłą niedzielę rozpoczęliśmy w naszej Parafii charytatywną akcję „Miska Ryżu” na pomoc
głodującym a zwłaszcza dzieciom. Miski ryżu są w tyle Kościoła i można jeszcze je zabrać i zwrócić w
ostatnią niedzielę Wielkiego Postu. W przyszłą niedzielę druga składka będzie przeznaczona na pomoc
Kościołom w krajach Europy Wschodniej, a więc również Kościołowi w Polsce. Do ofiarności na ten cel
zachęca nas Kardynał Francis George w swoim liście do wiernych.
Ks. Ryszard
ARCHDIECEZJA CHICAGO 20 marzec 2011 r.
Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,

W Kościele w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej widoczne są postępy we wspieraniu odnowy

duchowej na terenach znajdujących się niegdyś pod kontrolą sowiecką. Jednak nowonabyte swobody
osobiste i religijne stawiają przed Kościołem kolejne wyzwanie—konieczność zapewnienia mieszkańcom
Środkowej i Wschodniej.

Szczerze oddany w Chrystusie,

Francis Kardynał George, O.M.I. Arcybiskup Chicago
