MEDIUM VOLTAGE RETICULATION SYSTEM :

BPU.PHB shall provide reliable poBPU.PHBr supply to all premises in UTM with
99.99% reliability equal to not more than 87 hours of breakdowns per year.

BPU.PHB shall provide preventive and corrective maintenance to the system


according to the work schedule approved by KBPU.

BPU.PHB shall ensure that all MV equipments in all the sub-stations are checked and
visited by Competent Professional Engineer according to the visit schedule.
According to act 447 clause 61.

BPU.PHB shall ensure temporary electrical restoration to be done inside 24 hours


after any incident happens and normalised the poBPU.PHBr supply back to normal
condition 24 hours after maintenance job completed.

BPU.PHB shall abide to Akta Bekalan Elektrik 447: 2000 and safe working practices.

LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEM:

BPU.PHB shall provide reliable poBPU.PHBr supply to all premises/buildings in UTM


with 99.99% reliability equal to not more than 87 hours of breakdowns per year.

BPU.PHB shall provide preventive and corrective maintenance to the system


according to the approved work schedule.

BPU.PHB shall abide to Akta Bekalan Elektrik 447: 2000 and safe working practices
by SIRIM.

Users/Occupants shall make sure that budget is available with any new installations
of work cubicles, needing power supply.

Any new installation of socket outlets exceeding 1000 meter square of building
space, during any space renovation, during defect liability period of the renovated
space shall be forwarded to Upgrading Unit.

Any temporary electrical installation shall have permission from Head of Electrical
Unit BPU.PHB.
STREET LIGHTING P OLICY

All street lighting units owned by UTM are maintained to a standard that ensures as far as
possible their safe, functional and reliable operation. Main requirements are:

• The provision and maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of all items of illuminated


street furniture to enable satisfactory implementation and management of maintenance
operations and ensure accurate assessment of electrical energy consumption.
• Monthly inspection procedures to detect outages and planned electrical and structural
inspections to identify potential problems and pre-empt in-service faults, while ensuring
continual efficient operation.
• Reactive repair procedures that ensure appropriate responses to defects within
predetermined timescales.
• All maintenance work will be carried out in accordance with the Street Lighting
Maintenance Contract. This contract has a contract period of two years with extension
possibilities and contains all operational standards.

STANDBY GENERATOR SET:

To ensure that essential electrical service is provided in selected areas of the University when
normal electrical supply is interrupted, emergency power systems supplied by generator sets can
provide an alternate source of electrical power in buildings and facilities as required.

As required by the UBBL for academic and office buildings, an emergency power system shall
be provided and have a power source and fuel supply sufficient to operate the following
equipment:

Fire and booster pumps.

Firemen lift.

Alarm systems.

Communications systems.

Emergency lighting, if battery packs are not provided.

Ventilating systems used for smoke venting or control

Stair pressurization.
Main Information, Communication & Telecommunication System Room

Sensitive equipments connected to UPS, such as long duration tests done, due to
interruption of power supply there is a safety risk/hazard to the building occupants such as
spillage of toxic waste, explosion or radiation. (Client shall provide budget and annual
maintenance & operational expenditures shall be borne by client)

All maintenance work will be carried out in accordance with the Generator set Maintenance
Contract. This contract has a contract period of two years with extension possibilities and
contains all operational standards.

UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM :

To ensure that very essential electrical service is provided in selected areas of the University
when normal electrical supply is interrupted, emergency power systems supplied by an
uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can provide an immediate source of electrical power in
equipments in not less than 15 minutes back-up time to allow users to conduct emergency
procedures such as equipment proper shutdown.

An UPS emergency power system shall be provided and have a power source and fuel/battery
supply sufficient to operate the following equipment:

Alarm systems.

Main Information, Communication & Telecommunication System Room

CCTV Main Control Centre

Sensitive equipments such as long duration tests done, due to interruption of power supply
there is a safety risk/hazard to the building occupants such as spillage of toxic waste,
explosion or radiation. (Client shall provide budget and annual maintenance & operational
expenditures shall be borne by client)

Contract. This contract has a contract period of two years with extension possibilities and
