About The Telephone

Modern Telephone Old Telephone

The Telephone is a device used to communicate from one person to
another. On June 2nd, 1875 the telephone was born as the inventor
Alexander Graham Bell said, "Mr. Watson, come here - I want to see
you". These are the famous first words spoken into the telephone.

! Alexander's mother began to lose her hearing when he was

around 12 years old. His father was the inventor of visual speech. In
1866 He tried a series of experiments to find out how vowel sounds are
made. He started an interest in electricity. In 1871 He moved to Boston,
USA and opened a school for teachers of the deaf. In 1872 He became
a professor at the Boston University. His interest in electricity continued.
He met Thomas A. Watson. They quickly became friends. The patent
was issued on March 7th, 1876. Three days later the first intelligible
sentence was carried. He married a deaf women just like his mother.
This helped focus his research.

! The telephone fist was a place to talk into and a place to listen. The
words travel by the wire conecting it. Then we had telephones were you
have to type in the number and theres a cord conected to the wall. Now
we have cellphones which pick up a signal and conect so you can talk.
Our home phones are conected from the place were it charges. That
place give a signal to the home phone. There are many types of
telephones. Thereʼs the Home Phone(1861), Satellite Phone(1947),
Cellphone(1973), Smartphone(1992) and the types of Cellphones are
The Blackberry(1999) and the iPhone(2007).
 The Satellite Phone was invented by Bell Labs. The Cellphone was
invented by Dr. Martin Cooper. The Smartphone was invented in by
IMB.

! The telephone was a great invention. Because of the invention

many more things were invented like cellphones. Thanks to Alexander
Graham Bell we now have this great invention.
