The new Autotrol® Performa™ Series control valves give today’s water treatment professional the tools to gain the

everything from economic systems for the residential market to high-performance filtration systems for the light
commercial market.
The exceptional flow rate for the Performa series control valves allows the home owner to feel at ease knowing that
they will always have adequate soft water, at good flow rates, no matter the size of their home or their water usage.
They will always have adequate flow for their long morning shower, or for keeping up with their growing family. The
Performa Cv products are perfect for businesses, giving outstanding commercial performance at a great value. The
Performa series offers a control that can handle all types of problem water either through conditioning or filtration.
These systems include:

Performa 268/440i
The Performa 268/440i is our entry-level 5-cycle water softener control valve. It is
a full 1-inch control with 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) service flow and 13.3 GPM
(50.3 LPM) backwash capability. This high-value control will work with softeners
up to 14 inches (35.5 cm) and 3 cubic feet (0.085 cubic meters) of resin. The 440i
timer control features fixed regeneration times for ease of installation. This control
uses a black cam.

Performa 268/460i
The Performa 268/460i is a low-cost high-performance demand control valve.
This 5-cycle softener control will backwash at 13.3 GPM (50.3 LPM) and provide
service water at 25 GPM (94.6 LPM), working with softener systems up to
14 inches (35.5 cm) in diameter. The controller uses metered-water demand
regeneration with variable reserve, and features a calendar override option as
well as NOVRAM memory. The control uses the black cam.

Performa 263/440i
The Performa 263/440i is a basic 3-cycle backwash filter valve for systems that
do not require a regenerant. The Performa 263 valve features a 20 GPM
(75.7 LPM) backwash and 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) service flow capability. This
control will backwash system tank sizes up to 14 inches (35.5 cm) (media
dependent). The 440i control features a 6- or 7-day regeneration option. This
control valve uses a gray cam.

Performa ProSoft 268/960

The Performa ProSoft is a 5-cycle water softener control with cocurrent brining,
and demand regeneration with a variable or fixed reserve. It is a full 1-inch
(2.5-cm) control valve with 20 GPM (75.7 LPM) backwash and 25 GPM (94.6 LPM)
service flow capability. Softeners with up to 14-inch (35.5-cm) diameter tanks can
use this control valve. The Performa ProSoft has fully programmable cycle times.
The control face has the ProSoft logo, and the cam is black.
Performa Filter 263/940F
The Performa filter control is a 3-cycle filter control for backwashing filter media
that do not require regenerant. The control utilizes the 940 Series mechanical
timer in 7-day or 12-day regeneration modes. This control has a 25 GPM (94.6
LPM) service flow rate with a 20 GPM (75.7 LPM) backwash rate, and features an
adjustable backwash time of 2-24 minutes. Backwash is up to 20 GPM
(75.7 LPM) using internal or external backwash flow controllers. Filters with up to
14-inch (35.5 cm) (media dependent) diameter tanks can utilize the Performa
263/940F control. The control face has the Performa Filter logo, and the cam is
gray.

Performa Filter 263/960F

The Performa filter control with the 960F is a 3-cycle volumetric filter that is
programmed for a specific gallon or metric water usage before the system
backwashes. It has a turbine installed in the outlet to measure actual usage. It is
designed for maximum efficiency and water savings by operating as a demand
filter. This control has a 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) service flow rate and a 20 GPM
(75.7 LPM) backwash rate. The 263/960F also can be used as an electronic time
clock by utilizing its calendar override feature. The control can be programmed to
automatically backwash at fixed time intervals from 1 to 30 days. The control face
has the Performa Filter logo, and the cam is gray.

Performa 268FA
The Performa 268 FA is a valve featuring the 440i clock timer with a special
20 minute backwash for manganese greensand filters that use potassium
permanganate to regenerate. This control has a 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) service flow
rate and a 13.3 GPM (50.3 LPM) backwash rate. It is a 5-cycle valve designed to
be used with a potperm feeder. The cam is purple on this version.

Performa Cv 278 Conditioner/962/962TC Controller

The Performa Cv 278 is a rugged 5-cycle commercial conditioner control with
standard down-flow co-current regeneration. It is a full 1-inch (2.5 cm) control
valve, specially ported to achieve higher performance using the Performa valve
body. This control will achieve 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) backwash rates, and 25 GPM
(94.6 LPM) service flow rates. The Performa Cv will work on conditioning
systems with up to 21-inch tanks and for most conditioning resins. The 962
Series controller has added features above the 960 controller, giving it a real
advantage on light commercial installations. The large 6-digit LED display
provides additional diagnostic capabilities, and an interconnect cable allows the
controller to connect to other 962 controls for multi-tank applications. The
962TC electronic time clock gives you dependable time-initiated regeneration,
while maintaining the full programmability of the 962 controller. This commercial valve features a 5-year warranty!
The control face is black and the cam is black.

Performa Cv 273 Filter/942F/962F/962FTC
The Performa Cv 273 filter control valve is a high-performance filter featuring a Cv
of 5.0, allowing it to be used on carbon filters in the range of 21 to 24-inch tanks,
and multimedia filter applications in the range of 16 to 18-inches. This control will
achieve 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) backwash rates, and 25 GPM (94.6 LPM) service flow
rates. The Performa Cv filter can be teamed-up with the 942F mechanical timer
control, the 962FTC electronic timer controller, or the innovative 962F electronic
demand controller. The performance and price position of this Performa Cv filter
control valve make it a natural extension of the Performa series and an excellent
value for light commercial applications. This control valve features a black
faceplate and a gray cam.

The Autotrol Performa series valves are more than just a powerhouse high flow-rate control. The Performa series
control valve combines design simplicity and robust construction that gives your customers an uncommonly
reliable appliance. The inherent reliability in this control valve provides a strategic advantage when selling against
other water treatment systems. The Performa series control gives you a number of profitable selling features like:
• Fewer parts than any control system of comparable function, reducing overall maintenance and service needs.
• Control valve is designed for easy installation, reducing the amount of time per installation call.
• Automatic drain flow controller reduces the need for costly additional pieces (larger commercial installations
may require an external drain flow control).
• Direct Action system functions independently of water pressure. There are no pistons or diaphragms that
require a minimum water pressure to operate.
• DuraFlow™ valve discs are held closed by water pressure and are leak-tight. Valve discs seat in the vertical
position, which is the design position least vulnerable to plugging.
• System operation cannot get out of phase or sequence. The control valve will always return to a fixed service
position regardless of where the regeneration cycle was started.
• Durable Noryl* construction ensures a light-weight, robust valve that will last well beyond its pioneering 5-year
warranty.
• Bypass water is automatically available during the regeneration cycle.

The Autotrol 460i Controller

Based in the tradition of our original demand electronics, this control series has been proven in millions of
installations world wide, and continues to lead the industry today. The 460i series controller is based on two key
components. The miniature computer on the circuit board gives you unique features, and the reliable Autotrol brand
one-inch turbine water meter. The 460i boasts many special features, such as:
• NOVRAM: memory retention recalls all of the data stored in the microprocessor. You do not need to worry about
losing settings or the time in the event of a power failure. Hardness and capacity settings are not lost in a power
failure.
• Self Adjusting Reserve: the 460i keeps a running total of the last 7 days water usage, and calculates how much
soft water is needed for the next 24 hour period. This guarantees that your home-owner customers will not run
out of soft water, while keeping the reserve at a minimum for optimal economy.
• Intuitive Control: the 460i is programmed to recognize a day of very little or no water usage as an abnormality,
and will not include those abnormal days in calculation of the reserve.
• Design Reliability: Solid-state electronics assure many years of trouble-free performance.
• Time Display: the 460i controller shows the correct time of day during normal conditioner operation, even
displaying a.m. or p.m. on the controller.
• Flow indicator: a flashing LED light flashes on the control indicating when water is being used.
• Guest Cycle: an extra regeneration can be performed at any time at the push of a button on the control. This is
beneficial if you expect more than normal water usage.

 • Calendar Override: This unique feature allows for the control to automatically initiate a regeneration if the unit’s
water usage hasn’t been enough to initiate a regeneration after a given period of time. This will help keep the
resin bed fully regenerated if water usage is very low. The 460i calendar override can be programmed from
1 to 15 days.

The Autotrol 96X Series Electronic Controller

The 96X Series controller gives you features that can really help you sell. Today’s water treatment professional
needs unique selling features to remain competitive! The 96X Series controller, teamed up with the Performa series
control gives you such features as:
• Fully Programmable Cycle Times allow you to install and program the control to your home-owner customer’s
exact water needs. All five cycles in the regeneration process can be fine tuned to your exact specification.
• Battery-Backup Feature will keep the time of day, and track water usage for up to two days in the event of a
power failure.
• NOVRAM memory retention recalls all of the data stored in the microprocessor. You do not need to worry about
losing settings or the time in the event of a power failure. Hardness, capacity and other program settings are
not lost in a power failure.
• Automatic Double-Regeneration for exhausted resin beds. If water usage exceeds 150% of the system
capacity between regenerations, the control will automatically initiate a second regeneration ensuring the
exhausted bed is completely recharged.
• Selectable Reserve Options: The 96X Series control gives you the ability to set the system for one of four
different reserve options to meet your customer’s exact needs.
• End-user lock-out: The control can be programmed to freeze the values for Salt Amount and Capacity so the
home owner customer cannot alter them after installation.
• US or Metric units of measure make this control an international contender.
• Calendar Override: You can program into the control a specific calendar override time, ensuring that the
system’s resin bed won’t foul after an extended period of no regenerations. The system will automatically
regenerate at the programmed time interval of 1-30 days.
• Gallons Remaining Feature: the display shows the home owner how many gallons of conditioned water remain
before regeneration. The display counts down as water is used. This feature also confirms turbine meter
operation.
• Guest Cycle: The home owner can initiate a regeneration at the push of a button, if they expect a day with high
water usage. For example: a heavy laundry day.
• Manual Double Regeneration allows for the home owner to manually initiate a double regeneration without
having to wait for the first one to complete hours later. This gives them the ability to completely recharge the
resin bed easily.
• Design Reliability: Solid-state electronics assure many years of trouble-free performance. The meter system
has only one moving part, to reduce the likelihood that it can become fouled with sediment.
