Activating RAN1662: UE Specific CQI Correction Activating UE specific CQI correction

1 Activating UE specific CQI correction

Follow the subsequent procedure to activate the “RAN1662: UE Specific CQI Correction” feature in the NB/RSxxx
via the Node B element manager (LMT).

1.1 Connecting an LMT to an NB/RSxxx

Use this procedure to connect an NB/RSxxx element manager, also known simply as LMT, to any NB/RSxxx type.

1 Opening the NB/RSxxx door

Open the NB/RSxxx door and find the socket for the LMT connection. Details can be found in the Node B
Racks/Shelters Hardware Description.
Determine the respective NB/RSxxx and follow the link to the Node B Racks/Shelters Hardware Description:
A) ........... NB-341 Shelter
B) ........... NB-420/NB-860 Rack
C) ........... NB-440/NB-880 Rack
D) ........... NB-441/NB-881 Shelter
E) ........... NB-861 Shelter
F) ........... RSSU-380 Rack
G) ........... RS-381 Shelter
H) ........... RS-880 Rack

2 Connecting the LMT and the NB/RSxxx

Plug the LMT cable into the corresponding socket, which has been found in step 1.
Result: The LMT will be connected to the NB/RSxxx type.

3 Logging on to the LMT

To log on at the LMT, follow the procedure provided in the Using Node B Service Terminal guidance.
h ......... “Using Node B Service Terminal ➭ Node B Related Operations ➭ Connecting to a Node B”
Result: You are logged on at the LMT.

End of procedure

1.2 Setting the parameters to activate “RAN1662: UE Specific CQI Cor-

rection”
Follow this sub-procedure to configure the relevant parameters appropriately in order to activate the feature.

1 Uploading the database

Upload the NB/RSxxx’s database (DB) to the LMT, using the Tree View, for example:
h ......... “ManagedElement ➭ NodeBFunctional ➭ Osu ➭ Database Upload Tool”
Result: The DB will be available for modification at the LMT.

2 Editing the database

Modify the following parameters of the relevant LocalCellE managed objects:
• cqiCorrection = on
This parameter settings activates the “RAN1662: UE Specific CQI Correction” feature.
• cqiCorrectionBlerTarget
Define the BLER target value used for initial communication toward the UE.
h .......... “Node B Database Editing Guide ➭ Editing Attributes, Adding or Deleting MO Instances in a
nbDatabase”
Result: The relevant settings for the “RAN1662: UE Specific CQI Correction” feature have been specified.

3 Downloading the database

Download the DB modified in step 2 from the LMT into the NB/RSxxx, using the LMT’s “Database Management”
(“Edit ➭ Database Management…”) function.
Result: The DB will be stored in the NB/RSxxx.

4 Activating the database

Activate the DB downloaded in step 3.
h .......... Osu “activate”, nodeBDatabaseVersionType=new
Result: The modified DB will be activated in the NB/RSxxx.

5 Update the reliable database

Make the downloaded and activated DB reliable.
h .......... Osu “updateReliable”
Result: This is the new reliable DB, used by the NB/RSxxx.

End of procedure

1.3 Disconnecting an LMT and an NB/RSxxx

Use this procedure to disconnect an NB/RSxxx element manager, also known simply as LMT, from any NB/RSxxx
type.

1 Logging off from the LMT

To log off from the LMT, follow the procedure provided in the Using Node B Service Terminal guidance in reverse
order.
h .......... “Using Node B Service Terminal ➭ Node B Related Operations ➭ Connecting to a Node B”
Result: You are logged off from the LMT.

2 Disconnecting the LMT cable

Pull the LMT cable out of the corresponding socket. Details can be found in the Node B Racks/Shelters Hardware
Description.
