POLITICIANS IN THE COE PROCESS?
This is done through Council Meetings, Management
Meetings, Departmental and Committee meetings
INSTITUTIONAL

• Management provides Technical Advice while
Councilors proposes and make Policies.
• Community views come through Councilors to
Committees and finally to Council for Adoption.
• The Council has 17 Councillors (1 Female & 16
Male) 6 in Management (2 Female & 4 Male) 38 is
additional Workforce making a total of 44 Council
Staff (25 female and 19 men).

HAS THE COE COMPLETED STAGES 1 – 6?

Senanga Council participated in the Provincial
Workshop hosted by Mongu Municipal Council from

the 13th to 16th February 2010

• The Council has since adopted and costed the


Gender and GBV Action Plans that was developed at
provincial level
• Also participated in the first Gender Justice and
Local Government Summit 2010
• It has now shown keen interest to part of the COE
process

WHAT RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED?
• Increased Awareness by women (Realisation
of rights/Freedom of Speech).

• Streets named
• Communal Police Posts spreading to
remote Areas.
• Use of the VSU and Community P. Posts,
has resulted to rising numbers of
serious GBV cases being reported to VSU
(See photos below).

• There is need for more information for
creation awarness on GBV to be
provided to Communities especially
women and Girl Child.

• Mainstreaming of Gender in Project


Cycle to be emphasized.
• Mainly women are compromising with
