Our Faculty
• IITH has about 50 highly qualified faculty members in various Departments.
Most of them have research and industry experience from abroad or reputed
national research laboratories. They are young, energetic and creative with
a common goal to put IITH on the international map as a technology
hub.
• Faculty members have already embarked on many funded projects (from
both research organizations and consulting firms).
• They have represented IITH in many journal publications and national &
international conferences.
• They have bagged prestigious awards, such as NASI Young Scientist
Platinum Jubilee Award, DST Young Scientist Award, Best Paper Award in
ASCE GeoShangai 2010 International Conference, 2010 Hetenyi Award for
Best Paper, and so on.

Our Students
• In the year 2008, IITH started with a B.Tech program in three departments – Electrical
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. Every year, about
40 UG students are admitted in each of these departments.
• We have taken big strides in just two years of our inception. We now have PG programs
(M.Tech, MSc and PhD) offered in more than 10 departments. UG programs in other
departments are also expected to start shortly.
• Students from various parts of the country with

With the faculty to student ratio of about 1:5, the Chemical Engineering department has evolved into an exceedingly diverse field, making
eminent contributions in the areas of biotechnology, environmental engineering, fuel technology, nanotechnology, mineral processing, and
drug delivery processes.
We ensure the students pursue advanced courses (Cellular Engineering, Advanced CFD, Modeling and Simulation, Advanced Chemical Reaction
Engineering and Transport phenomena), execute firsthand informative research projects, and are equipped with the advanced technical skills of
ASPEN PLUS, ANSYS’s FLUENT/CFX and other computational packages to fulfill various industry needs.
The students are exposed to various forums, Institute’s Challenge Lecture Series, and seminars from eminent visiting scientists. Seminar course

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the first departments to be established in IIT Hyderabad. The department
admitted its first batch of students for undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs in 2008, and today it has nearly 120 undergraduate
students (40 in each of the 3 batches) and 13 postgraduate students including research scholars.
The department has been successful in attracting world class faculty members, having PhD from premier institutes like IISc, MaxPlanck, IIT
Bombay and IIT Madras. Most of the faculty members also bring in several years of teaching/industry experience. We also have on our board very
senior adjunct faculty members who are well known in both academia and industry.
The undergraduate students of the department are trained on a high standard curriculum with emphasis on both theoretical and practical
aspects of Computer Science. Our postgraduate program offers a variety of advanced electives and exposure to research problems.

The department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad provides a vivacious environment for the students to cultivate new ideas and to do extreme
engineering. At present, the M.Tech. program in the department is offered in three different specialized areas, namely, Power Systems & Power
Electronics, Communications & Signal Processing and Microelectronics & VLSI Design.
For Power Systems & Power Electronics, the students are working in many diversified fields such as microgrid, voltage stability, high-voltage dc
transmission, power system transient analysis, electro-magnetic transient simulation, embedded systems and power quality. The students have acquired
proficiency in using software such as MiPower, PSS/e, PSCAD and GAMS.
In the area of microelectronics, the students are working in recent emerging fields such as energy harvesting from solar/wind source, ultra low-power
reconfigurable multi-standard transceiver, Si-solar sensor and 3-D IC design. The students of Microelectronics have been well-trained to use software
such as CADENCE, SYNOPSYS, MENTOR SILVACO, and COMSOL.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is currently offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Postgraduate programs are
being offered in two streams – Design Engineering and Thermo-fluid Engineering.
Presently, the department has seven faculty members in varied fields. It has also set up five fully equipped undergraduate and postgraduate
laboratories that cater to the needs of the research and teaching.
Apart from engaging in teaching, the faculty of the department actively pursues research in fundamental and applied areas.
