Title: Arthroscopic Bankart repair of antero-inferior

glenohumeral instability: two to seven years follow
up.
ABSTRACT:
Background: In young adults anterior instability is most common clinical condition.
Long-term studies on Open bankart repairs have been presented. The purpose of
this study was to evaluate the results of arthroscopic bankart repair using titanium
anchors.

Materials and Methods: The study group included 300 patients, followed for 2 to 7
years. Average age was 27 yrs. There were 210 male and 90 female. The patients
were assessed with UCLA, VAS for pain and function, range of movement and level
of participation in sports. The recurrence rate and risk factors were evaluated.

Results: Mean follow up was 3.1 years. At the final follow up, the mean UCLA score
improved from 15 to 34.2. Mean VAS score for pain and function was 1 both. Mean
external rotation loss was 8* as compared to opposite shoulder. Only 3 of 31 active
sportsmen could not return back to their sports activity. One 60 yr patient had
dislocation and on evaluation was diagnosed to have a significant bony defect
anteriorly and was converted to modified Latarjet procedure. 2 patients had

Conclusion: Arthroscopic bankart repair provide satisfactory result with a minimal
failure rate. The cohort is a mixed group of early and late presenters. Amongst the
