Hi I’m Sean Nguyen your 2011-2012 CSULB Circle K President! Welcome

to The Beach Point, our brand new Circle K monthly newsletter! What’s so spe-
cial you ask? Well this newsletter is dedicated to keeping you all informed and
updated on what is going on not only in our club, but our division and our dis-
trict! You should always know that YOU, yes YOU can always be published in
the newsletter! So keep an eye out!

If you notice anything weird in this issue of our newsletter, be sure to let
us know! And in the meantime there’ll be some sections that will be definitely
up and running by the time the school year starts. So you could say it’s a
sneak peek.

I’m so ecstatic and joyous to be here to serve alongside you all! I can’t
wait to see where our amazing board shall take us through this next year. Let’s
just say there’s a lot in store for all of you and I hope you all stick around to see
what we as the board have planned. You are all in for quite a surprise, count
on that.
You should all know that we as the board are currently finding themes
for the next year and that you should all definitely stick around and go to
meetings to find out what our new theme is!
Over the past year our club has been in the process of making a name
for itself, and now we’re officially on a roll. Over spring break we our club at-
tended the California-Nevada-Hawaii Circle K International District Conven-
tion. During this time our club dominated at DCON with our talent act! Even
though we didn’t place, our name will definitely be known throughout CNH.
But that’s not all! On top of that our club is now home to the 2011-2012 CNH
District Governor, Brett Butler! With all this, our club has nowhere to go but up!
This year we’re going to need every last member to be pumped up
with the awesomeness that is CSULB CIRCLE K. So be ready, for glorious things
are soon to come!

Woo what a mouthful! But, ah! There’s so much more to say and so little
space! If you’re craving for more updates, be sure to check out the special
messages section!

Signed,

Sean D. Nguyen

IMMEDIATE PAST BOARD (2010-2011)

Hello everyone! My name is Renee Eguia and I am IP President

the outgoing president for the 2010-2011 year. As a
proud Circle K member and officer, I am glad we were Renee
able to reach our goals such as increasing membership,
raising funds for International dues, and having an awe-
Eguia
some fun-filled year with a variety of community service
projects, socials, and fundraisers! I am proud of each
and every member who has impacted our club and
made our club great!

Although my year as president is coming to end, I'll

still be here for our Circle K club! I love Circle K too much
that I wouldn't want to leave. I know our 2011-2012
board will do well! I'm already proud of all of you for tak-
ing the initiative to be a part of the executive board.
Good luck 2011-2012 board and just know that I will al-
ways be here for you!

IP Vice President of Administration

Christina Chau

Hello everyone! Guess who it is? It’s Chris-

tina Chau, your 2010-2011 Vice President of Ad-
ministration for CSULB Circle K. A whole another
year has come and gone for Circle K at CSULB!
It has been a great year with so many new
members who are up and ready to do what is
needed for the community! I would like to give
a big thanks to the wonderful board that I
worked with this year. They are such great peo-
ple that I got to know and work with. Because
of them we got a lot new members within our
clutches… I mean we have a lot of new mem-
bers to help out for another year of community
service! I believe that the new board will ac-
complish a lot to help this club flourish and
grow. I wish them the best of luck for the up
and coming year for Circle K at CSULB!
IMMEDIATE PAST BOARD (2010-2011)

IP Vice President
of Service

Katrina Lim

Hello all! I’m Katrina Lim, your past Vice President of Service. I’d like
to thank those of you who helped out at service projects. This is an inte-
gral part of Circle K, and I’m so glad that many of you enjoy serving our
community as much as I do. Especially at YMCA Fun Days, where we
watch children like creepers at the zoo, science centers, and on boats.
But I think that it’s probably just me, hahaha. Now that my term is over,
I’m going to be just another member, helping out at service projects
whenever I can. I’m turning my position over to Eva, and I know that she’s
going to do a wonderful job. SHE BETTER DO A WONDERFUL JOB. Haha, I
kid; she’s definitely going to do well! Anywho, I hope you guys had fun,
and I look forward to not searching for service projects anymore! JK!

IP Treasurer

Jamie Fujimoto

Hey everyone! It's Jamie Fujimoto, your now IP Treasurer for Circle
K. This year has been a great year for CSULB Circle K! I can't
believe the year is just about over! It has been exciting to see our
club grow since the beginning of the year, particularly in size and
member involvement. We were able to double the amount of dues paid
members in our club from last year, which was very exciting! The
ending of the executive board term has been bittersweet. I'm sad that
I will no longer be serving you guys as treasurer. However, I know
our new board will give us just as good of a year, if not better!
IMMEDIATE PAST BOARD (2010-2011)
Hey everyone!

It’s your totally awesome Secretary of 2010-2011 here. I just want to

say that I had a fantastic year with you all! We had so many new mem-
bers this year and I’m glad that every single one of you joined. I hope
that I will see you all as members of the next year. I’ll still be here and I am
looking forward to do a lot more service, socials and fundraisers with you
all. I also want to thank the rest of the 2010-2011 board. I’m so glad that I
got to do this with all you wonderful girls. I know the new board will do a
great job. I can’t wait to see how the club evolves from here. I also want
to congratulate all of the members on doing so many service hours and,
give an extra congrats to the members that received awards at District
Convention. Thank you all for making Circle K something that I can love
even more now.

To Service and Beyond,

TK

the most awesome club as District Governor this year! I can’t wait for this
year because it really is going to be an awesomeness-filled amazing year!
I’m really proud of how far the club has come along in the past couple

that the 2011-2012 board will take the club to new heights. While I am Dis-
trict Governor, I want you all to know that CSU Long Beach is my first

METRO DIVISION LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

What Metro Means to Me, Your New

2011-12 LTG.

Hello My name is JonJon and I am

your new 2011-2012 Metro Lieuten-
ant Governor. I want to first off say that I
am proud to take on the position of LTG for
the most outgoing and dedicated division
in our district, Metro Division. I am dedicat-
ed to you and those who serve under the
Cal-Nev-Ha District. I want everyone to
know that as your LTG, I do have some
plans up my sleeve for this upcoming year.
Many of my plans require a lot of help from
clubs though. Clubs like you, Cal State
Long Beach.

I believe you guys have been one of

the pioneers of Circle K here in Cal-Nev-
HA, paving the way for other clubs to
break through and become the clubs they
have become. I don't think many realize
that. But I think it's time. I believe its time for
change, and motivation to reign supreme
here in Metro Division, and I know that Cal
State Long Beach has got the people, re-
sources and experience to make things
happen.

Long Beach has a long history to

Johnathan keep up, and I know It can and will. So as
your LTG, I want to make sure that you
Junpradub guys are assisting the front lines when it
comes to Metro growing stronger and bet-
(UCLA) ter than ever before! Lets do this 49'ers and
lets do this Metro style!

When I say 'D' You say 'CON', D-CON!
[District Convention]
by Christine Nguyen
DCON weekend was finally here. It was something that I
had been looking forward to all for a while. Arriving at the hotel
I could see so many spirited Circle K’ers everywhere, covered
head-to-toe in sporty spirit wear. It just made me that much more excited for
the festivities to start. I loved seeing the colorful shirts that each club had de-
signed based on the theme for that 2010-2011 year.
After the first general session, we were put into a room with our division
to listen to the speeches of potential candidates whom were running for Dis-
trict Positions. All of them had a lot to say why they would be the best choice
and what they would fix but only a few stood out in a way that would make
them the best candidate for that position.

The next day everyone was dressed in business wear heading off to
workshops. Some workshops were more focused on E-board positions, others
mainly for first time Circle K members that were very informative and eye
opening.

Finally the big moment arrived, the talent show. Something that CSULB
CKI had been working so hard for. I honestly didn't care if we placed or not it
was more a matter of being in the talent act that made me so proud of the
club. I can honestly say that we tried our best.

Sunday, the final day of DCON. It was bittersweet because it was the
retirement of this past year’s officers, as well as the installation of the next
years. These people worked so hard to get where they are now and I'm so
proud and honored that they were brave enough to take up these positions.
They deserve it. DCON was a weekend that opened my eyes up to the poten-
tial possibilities that one day I could change the world one step at a time.

[Kiwanis One Day]
by Renee Eguia
Kiwanis One Day is an annual event that Kiwanians all over
the United States and the world host. During Kiwanis One Day, we
devote a day to service and collaborate with our Kiwanis family,
which consists of Kiwanis, Circle K, Key Club, KIWINs, K-Builders, etc.! (GO BEACH!) We
were able to volunteer with our sponsoring Long Beach Kiwanians and accomplished
the goal of providing the necessary renovation and beautification the Los Altos YMCA
desperately needed by planting rosemary and other plants. Although it was a lot of
work, I was glad that I was able to give the Los Altos YMCA the makeover they de-
served. Hopefully the plants will be able to live for many years to come! :)

Easter Eggs and Face Paint

[YMCA Fun Day]
by Johnny Dao
Waking up on a Sunday morning to a Circle K
service project is what I look forward to every week-
end. This particular day however, we came to help
YMCA with their fun day, once again. We helped
them with their easter egg hunt, egg decorations,
face painting and their booth games. The kids were
fun to play with, and we got free hotdogs, baked po-
tatoes, chips and drinks. At the end of the activities,
they had a raffle for prizes . I paid $20 for raffle tick-
ets—in the end I got myself a brand new iPod Touch.
