ENVIRONMENT 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW VERSION – BETA 3.0
This document describes in detail how to install and configure the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 EHP1 Preview
Version that is available on SDN download area (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads). This includes the installation of the
Java server as well as the installation of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. Before starting with the installation and configuration
steps, make sure that you have downloaded the CE server installation package and the NetWeaver Developer Studio installation
package.
This is what you should find in the respective folders.
Server:

NWDS:

Finally double-check whether your system fulfils the following requirements:

Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) or Windows 2003 Server (Service Pack 1), english only
This version runs on Windows XP (SP2) with password accounts and Windows Server 2003 (32bit), english only
NTFS file system
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, or Firefox 1.0 or higher
Min. 1 GB, recommended 2 GB RAM
7 GB free hard disc space
1.5 GHz PC or higher
Monitor 1024x768 pixels or more, 256 colors
Internet access (for CE online documentation)

Besides these requirements, make sure that you have removed a previously installed version of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
and the server software including the database from your system. Otherwise the screens and dialogs will differ from the ones
described in this guide.
For running the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio you need to install the latest Java Development Kit JDK 5.0. Where to find it is
explained in the Installing the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS) chapter of this guideline. Do not use JDK 6.0.
If no DHCP server is available on your network (which dynamically determines the IP address) or your computer is not connected to
any network, you need to install the virtual interface adapter MS Loopback Adapter (described in detail on the next page).

INSTALLING THE ENTERPRISE SERVICES REPOSITORY

(ES REPOSITORY)
Before starting the installation make sure that the Java engine is running and the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio has been started.

1. Together with the server

installation, the archives for
the ES Repository have been
delivered. Double check their
location. Go to the directory
in which you’ve extracted the
server files (compare steps 1
and 2 of the server installation
description right at the
beginning of this document).
You will identify the directory
named Additional (see
screenshot). Within that folder
you will find the ESR_SCAs
folder, which contains the
archives we want to deploy
next.

2. For deployment, we move to

the already opened NWDS.
Click on Window Open
Perspective Other….
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 37

3. The Open Perspective dialog

pops up. Select the
Deployment entry and click
on OK.

5. Navigate to the folder that we

identified during step 1, select
the three archives and click on
Open.

6. Leave all settings as they are.

Click on the Deploy button.

7. In case the dialog box in the

screenshot appears, make sure
that all three archives are
highlighted (see step 6). If this
is the case, continue with OK,
otherwise click Cancel and
select all archives or simply
select the root node External
Deployable Archives and
press the Deploy button again.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 39

8. As we connect to the engine

for the very first time, we
have to provide the credentials
administrator as User and
abcd1234 as Password.
Check the Store user name
checkbox and click on OK.
The deployment starts.

Be patient as it might take

some minutes due to the fact
that the server will be
restarted (automatically)
during deployment.

9. An appropriate dialog
confirms the successful
deployment. Click on OK to
continue.

10. If you’d like to test the

successful installation of the
ESR, you can jump to chapter
“ADDITIONAL SETTINGS
IN THE ENTERPRISE
SERVICES REPOSITORY
(ES REPOSITORY)” at the
end of this document, page
57.

11. The software is successfully

installed on your server. Now
the time has come to
configure it. Fortunately
configuration templates will
help you. In summary we will
run through 4 of those
templates.

First we need the

configuration of the System
Landscape Directory. The
ES Repository requires it. In
your web browser open the
SAP NetWeaver
Administrator via the URL
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 40

http://localhost:50000/nwa
Logon with the credentials
administrator/abcd1234.
Click on Log On. Click on
Configuration Management
Scenarios. Click on
Configuration Wizard to get
to the configuration templates.

Note 1: What is a System

Landscape Directory? The
System Landscape Directory
(SLD) is a one stop location to
maintain information about
the state of your landscape. In
our context, it is important
because it has the list of
current software component
versions. If you already have
an SLD that you are using
with an existing ES
Repository, you can go ahead
and use the same. Otherwise,
you can setup an SLD locally
in the same system (it’s not
performance intensive!)

Note 2: For the execution of

all templates keep the
following in mind: due to the
long runtime of some
templates it can happen, that
the template cannot be
finished successfully (e.g. you
get an error message
comparable to the one
depicted to the right). In these
rare cases either click on the
Repeat Step button or restart
the template.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 41

12. The Configuration Wizard

lists all available templates. In
the Configuration Tasks
section scroll down to the
Initial setup of functional
unit SLD entry. Select it and
click on the Start button.

13. Select the Typical

Configuration Mode and
click on the Next button.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 42

14. Supply the Administrator

credentials: define the master
password abcd1234 and click
on Next.

15. Select the Setup a new Local

SLD Server radio button.
Activate the checkbox
Software will be developed
and delivered from this
system. Enter localhost in the
ObjectServerName field and
click on the Next Button.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 43

16. Wait until the installation is

finished. Click on the Return
to Task List link in order to

the central services registry is
located. Enter the following
data:

Host: localhost
Port: 50000
User Name: administrator
Password: abcd1234

Click the Next button.

22. Wait until the installation is

finished. Click on the Return
to Task List link in order to
start the next template.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 45

23. From the list select the

Configuration of ESR in CE
entry and click on Start.

24. Provide the administrator

password abcd1234 and click

25. Select the Local SLD entry

and click on Next.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 46

26. Confirm the dialog that pops

up by clicking on Close. We
ran that template already.

27. Provide passwords for users

that will be created for you.
You don’t have to change the
usernames. Just enter
abcd1234 for both users as
password and click on Next.

28. Provide a password for the

service user: we once again
choose abcd1234 as
password. Click on Next.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 47

29. Wait until the installation is

finished. As part of this
installation step, prepared
content will be populated into
the ES Repository. This may
take some time, so please be
patient.

With that the last wizard has

been executed and finished.
Click on the Home link to
move back to the SAP
NetWeaver Administrator’s
homepage.

30. For all exercises we want to

make use of only one user to
prevent jumping between
users. Therefore we have to
assign more rights to the
administrator. Within the SAP
NetWeaver Administrator
click on Operation
Management Users and
Access. Click on Identity
Management to get to the
user administration.

31. Search for the administrator

by entering adm* into the
Search Criteria field. Click
on Go.

32. In the table of found users,

select the Administrator row.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 48

33. In the Details section

underneath the hit table, select
the Assigned Roles tab strip
and click on the Modify
button.

34. Enter *gp* in the Search

Criteria field of the Assigned
Roles tab strip and click on
Go.
Pay attention: there are two
Search Criteria fields on that
tab. Fill the field in the
Available Roles area and
NOT the one in the Assigned
Roles area!

35. Choose Select All from the

table selection menu of the
table in the upper left corner
of the table and click on the
Add button beneath the table.

36. Repeat the previous two steps

(entering search criteria, select
all hits, press the Add button
for the following search
criteria:
*CAF_*
*EDME*
*XI_AD*
*XI_DE*
*EVERY*
*VC*
*ENDU*
*EU_*

*AD_WR*
*VISUAL*

37. Finally click on Save to save

your changes.

38. Now that the administrator

account has been created, it is
a good idea to create a copy of
it, so that we will always have
a fallback account in case of a
locked account. In addition
during the exercises we will
work with the copied account
and not with the original
administrator’s account.
For copying an account select
the Administrator entry in
the table and click on the
Copy to New User button.

39. Fill out the General

Information tab as shown in
the screenshot. As initial
password enter abcd1234. We
will change it after the first
login. Click on Save.

Note: for the exercises of the

SOA Experience Workshop,
the dummy E-mail address
entered in this dialog is “good
enough”. However if you are
going to build more complex
scenarios, which allow the
sending of notifications via E-
mail, you might want to
consider a valid E-mail
address.
INSTALL&CONFIGURE SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW 50

40. Click on Log Off in the upper

right corner to try out the new
account.

41. The logon screen appears.

This time you enter the new
account data demo as User
