The 520 MW Termoelectrica Del
Golfo (TEG & TEG II) power plant was
built at Tamuin in the State of San
Luis Potosi in Mexico, for CEMEX, the
world’s third largest cement company.
The plant supplies power to 13 CEMEX
cement plants in Mexico holding
self-supply permits. As the plant’s
turnkey contractor, Alstom supplied
the plant’s 4 x 130 MW circulating
fluidized bed (CFB) boilers, which
cleanly burn petroleum coke supplied
by a PEMEX oil refinery. Alstom’s
technology is achieving very high
sulfur capture with greatly reduced
limestoneconsumption, as well.
The units went into commercial
operation in 2004.
