Safety:

The meaning of safety is to apply the right and risk free working methods at any
time. In any situation a person begins to work using the entire set of hand tools and
machinery keeping the surrounding in control. These hand tools and machinery
might prove harmful if not used in right way and care.

Accidents

An event that takes place all of a sudden unexpectedly resulting in some bad thing
is called an accident.

Causes:

1. Unguarded/ unsafe rotating parts.

2. Slippery floor

3. Loose clothing

4. Long hairs

5. Not wearing proper uniform

6. Not using personnel protective equipment required for certain operations

7. Poor house keeping

8. Flying chips

9. Not concentrated on work, absent minded

10.Horse play (badchodian)

11.Leaving the machines running. (haram khori)

12.Obstruction in passage

13.Operating machines at a very high speed

14.Work-piece loosely clamped

15.Improper lightening

16.Improper ventilation

17.Not using right tool for the right job

18.Lifting load with unsafe posture

19.Using the damaged tool.


Precautions:

1. All machines should be properly guarded

2. Floor should be clean

3. Special dresses like for X-ray lab and radioactive areas.

4. Wear proper clothing, avoid loose clothing in workshop

5. Use personnel protective equipments required for any operation

6. Every tool should be at its right place.(Proper house keeping)

7. Always concentrate on work. (bachion k khayalat se prhaiz)

8. There should be no horse play in the workshop

9. Always turn off the machine before leaving the workshop

10.The passages should be clear

11.Machines should be operated on the recommended speed

12.Work-piece should be clamped tightly. (Mutthal na bano)

13.Their should be proper lightening system in the workshop

14.There should be proper ventilation system in the workshop (as well as in the
bait-ul-khala)

15.Always use right tool for the right job

16.Make safe posture while carrying load

17.Never use damaged tool for any operation

Electric Hazards:

Causes:

1. Bare leads. Nange putange taar.

2. Improper sockets and plugs.

3. Improper cabling

4. Electric cables passing through water

5. Electric cables not grounded


Precautions:

1. All the electric leads should be properly covered

2. There should be proper sockets and plugs

3. Electric cables should not be pass through the passage on the floor

4. All the electric cables should be properly grounded.

Fire hazards:

Fire is caused by the combination of heat, combustible material (fuel) in the


presence of air (oxygen). If fire is to be extinguished then remove one of the
above three elements.

Causes:

Short-circuiting.
Loose electric connections.
Improper housekeeping of flammable materials and chemicals.
Direct sunlight on flammable chemicals.
Smoking near sensitive/flammable materials.
Bijli k Nange taar.

Precautions:
Building should be sufficiently fire resistant.
Fire should not be spread easily horizontally and vertically.
Periodic inspections of electric equipment.
Provisions for separations of combustibles materials.
Adopt mechanical fool proof.
Make environment as nearly fireproof as possible.
Sprinkle system installed.
Alarm system.
Organization and training of Fire brigade.
At least two exit doors.
Provision of proper type of Fire extinguishers.
Fire fighting trainings.

First Aid
First aid is defined as the help you can give if you are faced with a crises when
someone is injured or ill until the doctor arrive or reaching hospital.

The following should be available for First aid:


1. Availability of First aid box in every room or Shop.
2. Training should be given for providing first aid in both major and minor
accidents.

Promoting Safety:
Safety is very important in our daily life as well as in industry. The quantity and
quality can not be maintained without implementing safety. Accidents can be
avoided with the help of safety rules.
These are the methods of promoting safety concepts in workers:
1. Propaganda
(by using posters, slikers, film shows, talks, safety weeks and so on.
2. Formal education
Safety education at school and college levels to ensure better safety results in
industry.
3. Training of Workers
It refers to the hazards generally present in the company as well as the specific
hazards associated with individual jobs.
