Choreographer. My future profession is connected with art. My future profession is a


choreographer. I like to dance since my childhood.
Choreography is the art of creating dances. Dance is movement of the body in a rhythmic way,
usually to music.
As all dancers I need grace, physical beauty, sense of rhythm, strength. So I have to go to class
every day. A dance class is a large room with large windows and a bar along the walls.
The choreographer must be a good dancer and have good sense of music. At the University we
study classical, folk and modern dances: waltz and tango, polka and quadrille. We take part in the
performances of different professional companies. The graduates of our faculty work at different
centers, schools, clubs and dancing groups.
Director My future profession is connected with art. I'm a future director of holidays and
performances. When I graduate from the University I'll become a qualified specialist in the sphere
of direction. I will stage different performances and holiday intertainments. The most interesting for
me is plays' producing. In future I will stage some interesting and famous plays. But direction is
not only producing. At our faculty we study a lot of interesting disciplines, such as: history of art,
literature,... (какие еще предметы?). A director is also a leader. I think my profession is very
perspective. I'd like to devote myself to staging because this profession makes people happy. In
conclusion, I'd like to say, that we have chosen a difficult, but very interesting profession, which is
in great demand everywhere.
Photographer My future profession is connected with art. I'm a future photographer. When I
graduate from the University I'll become a qualified specialist in the sphere of photography. A
professional photographer can work , for example in a newspaper or a magazine, or may contract to
cover a particular event such as a wedding or graduation, or to illustrate an advertisement. At our
faculty we study a lot of interesting disciplines, such as: history of cinema, literature. I think my
profession is very perspective. I'd like to devote myself to photography because this profession
makes people happy.
Conductor, Musician My future profession is connected with art. I cannot imagine my life without
music. I listen to it every day and almost everywhere: at home, in the street, transport. There are so
many different kinds of music in today’s world. Music helps to relax and forget about everyday
problems. I like classical (jazz, folk, rock) music.
I work at / in.....(где?). As all musicians I need to have good sense of rhythm and music. At our
faculty we study a lot of interesting disciplines, such as: history of music, harmony, vocal,
conducting. I think my profession is very perspective. I'd like to devote myself to music because
this profession makes people happy. In conclusion, I'd like to say, that we have chosen a difficult,
but very interesting profession, which is in great demand everywhere.

Manager of social work Nowdays eople have lots of different problems, but culture and art are
important in our life. People, working in culture, must have good education, high cultural level,
ability to communicate with different people.
My future profession is connected with art. I'm a student at Faculty of Culture and Art, my
profession is " manager of social work." Our faculty trains managers, managing directors of
cultural centres, impresarios, economists, teachers and other specialists.
At our faculty we study a lot of interesting disciplines connected with theatre, music, art,
management that will help us in our work. I work at / in.....(где?).
We can take part in cultural projects and technologies in culture and art. We can organize cultural
programs, holidays, contests, presentations and festivals. The graduates of our faculty can work in
different places, from a village club to big palaces and centres.
In conclusion, I'd like to say, that we have chosen a difficult, but very interesting profession, which
is in great demand everywhere.

Saturday 18 July
We left home early in the morning, but our flight was delayed and we didn’t arrive at Heathrow
until late in the afternoon. We were really tired, but we took a bus to our hotel because taxis in
London are very expensive. When we got to the hotel, we had a rest and then went out to explore
the city. We had a quick sandwich in a small cafe and then headed for Oxford Street. I bought a
jacket and some T-shirts. I wanted to buy a bag as well, but I couldn’t find one that I liked. In the
evening, we ate in an Italian restaurant and went to a typical English pub in Covent Garden. We met
some really nice English people and had so much fun that we didn’t get back to the hotel until very
late!

Sunday 19 July
We got up late and had breakfast in a cafe. I had a full English breakfast, and then I had some fruit.
Anna just had toast. After breakfast, we went for a walk around the city. We saw Nelson’s
Column in Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, and St Paul’s Cathedral. In the afternoon, we had
a pizza and then took a bus to the train station. Travelling by bus in London is a great way to
see the sights. We caught an evening train to Stratford-upon- Avon and arrived at about nine
o’clock. We went to our hotel and had an early night. We wanted to get up early the next day
and explore Shakespeare’s birthplace.

The best public transport system in the world.

Curitiba in Brazil is no ordinary city; it has the best public transport system in the world.
The mayor, Jaime Lerner, along with the council, began developing the world-famous system in
1971.
Mr. Lerner had grown up in Curitiba and knew that the street was an important part of city
life for the residents. He made many of the streets into pedestrian areas, with no access for cars. The
council put in flowers, lights, and kiosks where people could sell food and other products. To
encourage shoppers to use the new areas, the mayor gave away free paper so that local children
could paint pictures in the street. Cyclists also benefit from 150km of cycle lanes, which follow old
river valleys and railway tracks around the city.
Mr. Lerner realized that to increase the development and growth of the city in the future, the
public transport system also had to improve. Buses were chosen as the main transport because it
was the cheapest. Curitiba’s transport system now consists of over 300 routes that use around 1,900
buses to carry approximately 1.9 million passengers every day. Approximately 60km of the roads
are for buses only, so traffic jams are unusual. Bus travel is faster and more convenient than using
private cars. The city now uses 30% less fuel than other large cities in Brazil and people spend only
about 10% of their yearly salaries on transport costs.
Some of the buses are able to carry 170–270 passengers. School buses are yellow, and buses
for disabled people are blue. They are designed with three doors – two exits and one entrance – so
that people can get on and off quickly. Bus stations provide free maps and facilities to help parents
with young children and people carrying heavy bags to board the buses easily. Passengers buy a
ticket at the office in advance and then wait for their bus, like in an underground station.
Because of the success of Curitiba’s public transport system, Jaime Lerner now offers advice
to city councils around the world on how they can solve their cities’ transport problems.
