GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:

Report Summary
All applicable tests according to the referenced standard(s) have been carried out.

Product Description
The PS3-2-1 is a powered speaker system that consists of the following:
Left Center / Surround speaker
Right Center / Surround speaker
Bass speaker which also houses the power supply and amplifier boards
SELV, low power Interface module with battery powered remote.

The remote was separately investigated to the requirements of IEC 60825.

Model Differences
For the PS3-2-1:
The 100V does not use an IEC 60127 approved fuse, it uses a MITI approved fuse which is acceptable for
JP.
This unit is turned ON by the use of a data cable.
The 220-240V version has a power switch.

For the PS3-2-1 II:

There are 3 different versions to this system.
The 100V and 120V units use the same transformer and have no power switch. This unit uses the same fuse

TRF No.: IEC60065_I Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

Issue Date: 2010-09-21 Page 5 of 37 Report Reference # E176413-A31-CB-3

for Japan as the PS3-2-1.

The 220-240V unit has a power switch.
The 115/230V unit is a dual voltage unit with a voltage selector switch. This unit is turned ON by the use of a
data cable. No power switch is provided for this unit.

For the PS3-2-1 III:

This model is identical to Model PS3-2-1 II except for model number only.

CineMate digital home theater speaker system:

This model is similar to PS3-2-1 II except for a new I/O board, minor changes in secondary circuits and the
addition of an interface module. This unit comes in 120V, 115/230V and 220-240V

CineMate series II digital home theater system:

This model is similar to PS3-2-1 except it employs a switching power supply instead of linear and a revised
I/O board.

CineMate GS series II digital home theater system:

This model is similar to CineMate series II digital home theater system except for remote control and satellite
speakers.

Z1 Resistance to candle flame ignition N/A

likelihood of ignition and the spread of fire caused
by a candle flame is reduced.

NOTE 1 An apparatus with a viewing screen is not

regarded to be a television set if it is declared not
to be so by the manufacturer.

This requirement does not apply to the display

screen of rear projection TV’s.

NOTE 2 This exemption has been allowed because

this technology is falling out of use and it is
expected that within a few years it will no longer
exist. This exemption will not be extended to other
technologies.

NOTE 3 The frame around the screen is not

exempted from the requirements.

Wood and WOOD-BASED MATERIAL with a

thickness of at least 6 mm is considered to fulfil the
V-1 requirement when applying CLC/TS 62441.
Compliance is checked according to CLC/TS
62441.

NOTE 4 The term vertical, as used in the first dash

of clause 5.2 of CLC/TS 62441, does not mean a
perfectly vertical position. It should be interpreted
as any surface that can be touched by the flame of
a candle of 150 mm height and 20 mm diameter
while the candle is still touching the supporting
surface. A typical candle used in the home is
assumed to be 20 mm diameter.

NOTE 5 It is expected that CLC/TS 62441 will in

the future be replaced by a standard, at which time
that standard will become applicable, subject to a

If this insulation forms part of a semiconductor
component (e.g. an optocoupler), there is no
distance through insulation requirement for the
insulation consisting of an insulating compound
completely filling the casing, so that CLEARANCES
and CREEPAGE DISTANCES do not exist, if the
component passes the electric strength test in the
accordance with the compliance clause below and
in addition:
- passes the test and inspection criteria of 13.6 with
an electric strength test of 10.3 using the test
voltage of 1,5 kV multiplied by 1,6, and
- is subject to routine testing for electric strength
during manufacturing, using a test voltage of 1,5 kV
(for performance of the test see N.2.1).
It is permitted to bridge this insulation with a
capacitor complying with IEC 60384-14:1993,
subclass Y2.
A capacitor classified Y3 according to IEC 60384-
14:1993 may bridge this insulation under the
following conditions:
- the insulation requirements are satisfied by
having a capacitor classified Y3 as defined by IEC
60384-14, which in addition to the Y3 testing, is
tested with an impulse test of 2.5 kV defined in IEC
62151, subclause 6.2.1;
- the additional testing shall be performed on all the
test specimens as described in IEC 60384-14;
- the impulse test of 2.5 kV is to be performed
before the endurance test in IEC 60384-14 in the
sequence of tests as described in IEC 60384-14.

equipment which is intended for connection to the
building installation wiring using screw terminals or
other reliable means, and for equipment which is
intended for connection to the building installation
wiring via an industrial plug and socket-outlet or an
appliance coupler, or both, complying with IEC
60309 or with a comparable national standard.
