1 Introduction
Bahria Education and Training Services (BEATS), was established in 1998 with the aim of providing
quality education. Bahria Foundation Colleges (BFC) has earned a reputation for excellence in education,
discipline and character building.
With the intention of providing better facilities to your students and keeping cognizant of modern
trends and techniques, we propose that the BFC should avail tuition fee collections and salary
disbursements through UBL Omni Branchless Banking services.
Branchless banking is the new frontier of banking and has revolutionized the way it is conducted. Since
its launch in April 2010 and even in its pilot phase; UBL Omni has made major inroads into areas
unexplored by conventional banking and delivered superior solutions.
2 Proposal
UBL Omni is United Bank Limited’s branchless banking business where banking services are being
provided through existing retail shops (UBL Omni Dukaans) which have been certified and enabled by
the Bank to provide financial services. UBL Omni is currently available in 400+ rural/urban towns and
cities in Pakistan and growing fast. There are 350+ Omni Dukaans in Karachi alone.
BFC Parents/Students can simply walk into any UBL Omni Dukaan and make their payment against their
outstanding BFC tuition fee in cash. Payments are instantly debited from the Omni Dukaandar’s
prefunded account maintained at UBL and credited to a temporary collection account and transferred to
BFC on the next business day with a reconciliation report.
Baharia foundation can also benefit from UBL Omni’s salary disbursement services which can be used to
disburse salaries to its contractual / permanent workforce.
This will facilitate BFC with consumer convenience and enhanced collection and salary disbursement
cycle due to extended outreach of Omni network while also receiving an end‐to‐end automated
collection process with no manual intervention for transaction marking. System defined information is
available against each transaction limiting the amount of paperwork and manual intervention.
Additional benefits available through the Omni channel are:
• Real time transaction confirmation on each collection / payment to BFC
• Daily reconciliation and fund transfer to BFC
• Full client information on each transaction alert and daily reconciliation summary

3 Collection Process Details
Walk‐ in customers will be able to make payments in cash for their BFC tuition fee without having the
need of a bank account or a previous bank relationship.
3.1 BFC Fee Payment Process through Omni Dukaan
The following is a typical transaction flow:
1. Parent/Student visits an Omni Dukaan for BFC fee payment with their fee challan issued by BFC
2. Omni Dukaandar logs in to the UBL Omni application on his mobile OR PC and navigates to the
“BFC Fee Payment” option in the menu
3. Omni Dukaandar enters the Student ID for inquiry and selects the “Fetch Details” option to
display details against the fee challan (details will be as received from BFC)
4. Omni Dukaandar confirms the details from the client and enters his system password to process
the transaction
5. On successful posting of transaction:
a. A confirmation message is displayed on the Omni application
b. The Parent/Student is sent a confirmation SMS for the transaction from UBL
c. BFC is sent a transaction alert from UBL
6. Omni Dukaandar presses the “Print” button on the screen and hands over the printed e‐receipt
to the client as proof of transaction
7. Parent/Student pays the cash amount to the Omni Dukaandar and leaves the Omni Dukaan
4 Salary Disbursement for BFC Staff
BFC can also use the UBL Omni platform to disburse salary to its staff on a monthly basis.
Following are the main stages involved in making this process operational:
1. Staff will open their UBL Omni accounts through UBL branches / Omni Dukaans
2. BFC will provide a monthly file containing Staff’s salary disbursement details
3. UBL will move the funds from BFC’s account to individual salary accounts on date specified by
BCF
4. This movement will be accompanied by alerts to staff as well as Baharia foundation’s appointed
personnel in an SMS / email
5. Staff can either withdraw the funds or utilize them from their account

5 Integration Requirements for Enabling Collections through UBL Omni
To enable collections through UBL Omni Dukaans, there are some integrations that will be done
between BFC and UBL Omni.
1. BFC and UBL Omni will map the Omni Dukaans in the network where these collections will be
made available
2. BFC will provide a student information file to UBL on periodic basis
a. Frequency, format and mode of transfer are configurable for first time
3. UBL will load the file into its system which will contain the student and financial information
relevant to the collection purpose
4. Collection will only be done for students whose information is available in the file in accordance
to business rules set for due date, late payments etc
5. Collection amounts can be configured to be fixed as provided in the file by BFC or be open for
any deposit as per client’s convenience
6 Reconciliation & Settlement Process
1. Real time fund collection will be done in an interim account maintained at UBL where BFC will
be sent an intimation in the agreed mode
2. A next day reconciliation report will be made by UBL and collected funds will be transferred to
BFC’s account maintained in UBL
3. This movement will be done after deducting UBL’s commission income on the collections
7 Real Time Monitoring of Transactions
1. A real time transaction intimation is sent to BFC through an SMS OR an email OR both
2. In addition to the real time alert, BFC will also have access to a collection MIS on UBL Omni’s
online portal for analysis /checking purposes
8 Financials
Financials can be finalized based on the expected volumes shared by BFC and the mapping of Omni
network for this service.

APPENDIX – A
What is UBL Omni
UBL Omni is United Bank Limited’s branchless banking business where banking services are being
provided through existing retail shops (UBL Omni Dukaans). UBL Omni agents are normal retail shop
owners who have been certified and enabled by the bank to provide financial services after passing
through a stringent signup process. As there is no credit involved in the Omni business, all transactions
are routed through a prefunded account that each agent has to maintain in the bank. Agents use the
Omni system either through an application deployed at their handset or a PC.
UBL Omni is currently available in 400+ rural/urban towns and cities in Pakistan and growing fast.
Services available at UBL Omni Dukaans
Services currently being offered through UBL Omni Dukaan are:

How customer can avail services through UBL Omni Dukaans
1. Customers walk into the store and inform the UBL Omni Dukaandar about the services that they
wish to avail
2. Omni Dukaandar logs into the UBL Omni application provided by UBL and enters the required
data
3. In case of bill payments / voucher purchase / cash withdrawal / collections etc, Omni system
verifies the information and return transaction specific details back to the Omni Dukaandar’s
mobile handset / PC
4. Dukaandar verifies the information from the customer
5. In case of customer’s acceptance the Dukaandar enters the Omni application password to
execute the transaction
Security
1. On successful execution of the transaction, a confirmation SMS is sent to the customer’s mobile
by UBL
2. In addition to the SMS, the Dukaandar also prints the transaction receipt and hands over to the
customer as proof of transaction
3. Customer has the facility to identify the authenticity of the Omni Dukaandar by sending the
Omni Dukaan number to UBL and UBL will respond with the Omni Dukaan’s details as
confirmation
