Public Safety (formerly known as The
Traffic Institute) continues to lead the
world in traffic crash investigation and
reconstruction through many courses of
study and its major textbooks. The most
comprehensive program of its kind, the
course series begins with basic accident
investigation and culminates in advanced-
level traffic accident reconstruction.
The Center’s textbooks set the standard
for serious crash investigators, attorneys,
engineers, and insurance adjusters
around the world. Traffic Collision
Investigation represents the work of
renowned engineer J. Stannard Baker
and many faculty members who have
taught through the Traffic Institute or the
Center for Public Safety. The center has
published and updated it under various
titles and reprinted it numerous times
in English, and once in Spanish. Its Building on 70 Years
sequel, Traffic Accident Reconstruction, of Experience
uses real-world accident cases and
mathematical formulas to help interpret
how an accident occurred.
Since 1936, the Center has increased
public awareness of traffic safety as an
urgent matter. Thanks to the national
safety movement, in which the center
has played a leading role, there has
for been a steady reduction of death and
injury due to traffic collisions worldwide.

accident reconstructionists and experts,
to learn how to accurately investigate and
