Call for urgent action for the safety of Iraqi civil

activists under detention.
ICSSI calls for urgent action to protect Firas Ali, who
was arrested yesterday by the Iraqi security agencies
during a raid on his headquarters in Karrada district in
Baghdad, without court orders. His colleague Alaa
Nabil was also arrested a week ago. While it’s not yet
clear what happened to hider Shihab Ahmed . That
was also detained two weeks ago.

Below the call of (FWCUI)Federation of Workers detained the 13th of April
Councils and Unions in Iraq over the detention of Members of February 25 rally,
Firas Ali. which called Days of Rage in Iraq.

Arresting Feras Ali by security force accompanied with Military forces

Armed force raided at afternoon, and specifically at 1 hour and 45 minutes, the
headquarters of the Federation of Workers Councils and Unions in Iraq, and
arrested labor activist and a member of the gathering of 25February, Firas Ali,
without any court order or written warrant.
The security forces insulted with bad words the presences inside headquarter of
union and directed bad phrases and threatens after spreading atmosphere of
scare, they Encirclement the place and stormed the location of Women freedom
organization for union with heavily armed.
The Repressive style of arresting and threat have repeated in a serious way,
pointing to the repressive authority, at the same time we ask to release Ala’a
Nabil who is arrested the last Friday, and we surprised that the forces entered
headquarter of union again and arresting another one.
The attack on our union for the second one during a week in not only for
spreading atmosphere of scare and terrorist, but also is a violation against
workers rights and on the dignity of the worker class in Iraq, this class is full of
memory of bad practicing by the former regime.
The Campaign of arresting against activists youths, women, and workers is a try
to spread the spirit of upset among masses and the workers who are asking their

rights and freedoms. But the reaction of masses will be more of demonstrations,
strikes, and continuing the struggling. So we ask the authorities to release all the
prisoners of demonstrations’ participants
We call all unions, international workers organizations to Interfere and put
pressure on the Iraqi government to stop the campaign of arresting and
spreading atmosphere scare. We ask the amnesty international organization and
the organization of human rights watch that concerned human rights and general
freedoms to ask the Iraqi government to release the arresting activists and
respecting human rights.
