William Shakespeare:

nasceu em 23 de abril de 1564 em Stratford-Avon,

Inglaterra, e gozou de uma vida rica até os 12 anos.A
partir de então,com a falência do pai,foi obrigado a
trocar os estudos pelo trabalho árduo, passando a
contribuir para o sustento da
família.Guardava,entretanto,os conhecimentos
adquiridos na escola elementar, na qual havia
iniciado seus estudos de inglês, grego e latim.Além
disso, continuou a ler autores clássicos,
poemas,novelas e crônicas históricas. Aos 18 anos
casou-se com a rica Anna Hathaway, oito anos mais
velha, com quem teve três filhos.Não se sabe ao
certo o motivo por que seguiu sozinho para Londres
quando tinha 23 anos. Nessa cidade teve vários
empregos, o mais significativo foi guardador de
cavalos em um teatro. Algum tempo depois
Shakespeare passou a copiar peças e representou
alguns papeis. Mais tarde, virou sócio do teatro,
depois de algum tempo tornou-se dono do
lugar.Atribui-se a William Shakespeare a autoria de
37 ou 38 peças, das quais destacam-se Antony e
Cleópatra, Rei Lear, Hamlet, Otelo, A Tempestade, A
comédia dos erros, A Megera domada, Macbeth etc.
Shakespeare é autor também dos seguintes poemas:
Vênus e Adônis, 1593; O rapto de Lucrécia, 1594 e
154 sonetos, publicados em 1609, que expressam,
entre outras coisas, agitação e frustração.
Shakespeare morreu em 23/4/1616, ao que se diz,
das conseqüências de um banquete com Samuel
Jhonson.
É impossível estabelecer as datas exatas das obras
de Shakespeare, mas pode-se classificá-las em
quatro grandes grupos, que representam os períodos
de sua vida, da juventude à velhice: As obras do
primeiro período são marcadas por sonhos juvenis e
pelo espírito exuberante; O segundo período foi o
das grandes crônicas e comédias românticas;
Depressão e tristeza marcam terceiro período. O
motivo de ou a desilusão que levou o dramaturgo a
sentir-se deprimido durante essa fase da vida, não se
sabe ao certo. No quarto período a tempestade
abrigada no espírito de Shakespeare parece ter
desvanecido. Assim, o gênio William Shakespeare
completa seu ciclo vida sem diminuir seu poder
poético e com um retorno quase divino ao seu
apogeu na literatura universal.

As peças de Shakespeare são normalmente divididas

em três categorias: comédias, peças históricas e
tragédias

O enredo passa-se em Verona, Itália, por

volta do ano 1500 e trata os amores de um casal de
jovens (Romeu e
Julieta), que apesar de serem provenientes de
famílias rivais, se
apaixonam um pelo outro. Nesta história as lutas de
espada, o disfarce,
os equívocos, a tragédia , o humor e a linguagem da
paixão simbolizam,
no seu conjunto, o amor verdadeiro. Duas poderosas
famílias (os
Montagues e os Capulet) são inimigas há muitos
anos. O velho Capulet,
pai de Julieta, dá uma grande festa para a qual
convida todos os amigos
da família. Como é evidente, a família dos Montagues
não faz parte da
lista dos convidados. Entretanto, como Romeu
Montagues anda interessado
em Rosaline, uma jovem que foi convidada para a
festa e arranja um
plano para a poder ver durante essa festa. Assim,
Romeu entra
disfarçado na casa dos inimigos da sua família. Já lá
dentro, a sua
atenção vai para Julieta, e não para Rosaline.
Apaixona-se de imediato
e fica muito desiludido quando sabe que Julieta é
uma Capulet. Romeu
também não passa despercebido a Julieta, mas ela
não sabe que ele é um
Montagues. Mais tarde, depois de descobrir que o
jovem por quem está
apaixonada é o filho da família inimiga, Julieta vai
para a varanda e
conta às estrelas que tem um amor proibido. Romeu,
escondido nuns
arbustos por baixo da varanda, ouve as confissões de
Julieta e não
resiste. Apresenta-se a Julieta e diz-lhe que também
está apaixonado
por ela. Com a ajuda de um amigo de Romeu ? Frei
Lawrence-, Romeu e
Julieta casam-se secretamente no dia seguinte. No
dia do casamento dois amigos de Romeu, Benvolio e
Mercutio, passeiam pelas ruas de Verona e
encontram-se com Tybalt, primo de Julieta. Tybolt,
que ouvira dizer que Romeu tinha estado presente
na casa de seus tios, anda à procura deste
para se vingar e discute com os amigos de Romeu.
Entretanto Romeu
aparece e faz perceber que não se quer meter em
brigas. Porém, os seus
amigos não percebem a atitude de Romeu e
Mercuito resolve defender a honra do amigo, e
começa um duelo com Tybalt. Mercuito cai por terra,
morto. Romeu vinga o seu amigo matando Tybalt
com um golpe de espada. Este golpe faz com que
Romeu seja ainda mais odiado pelos Capulets. O
príncipe de Verona expulsa Romeu da cidade, que se
vê forçado a deixar Julieta, que sofre imenso com
toda esta história. O pai de Julieta, que não sabia do
seu casamento com Romeu, resolve casá-la com um
jovem chamado Paris. Desesperada, Julieta pede
ajuda a Frei Laurence, que a aconselha a concordar
com o casamento. Diz-lhe que na manhã do
casamento Julieta deverá beber uma poção que ele
lhe vai preparar. A poção fará com que Julieta pareça
morta e ela será levada para o jazigo de família dos
Capulet. Então o Frei mandará Romeu ter com ela
para a salvar. Julieta faz tudo o que o Frei a manda
fazer e é deixada no jazigo, tal como estava previsto.
Antes que o Frei possa falar com Romeu, este ouve a
notícia da morte de Julieta. Desfeito de dor, Romeu
compra um frasco de veneno e vai até ao jazigo onde
se encontra Julieta para morrer ao lado da sua
amada. À porta do jazigo encontra Paris e é forçado a
lutar com ele, acabando por o matar, pois nada o
poderá deter de se juntar a Julieta. Já dentro do
jazigo, Romeu bebe o veneno e morre ao lado da sua
amada. Momentos depois, Julieta acorda e vê a seu
lado, o corpo morto de seu marido. O Frei entra e
conta a Julieta o que se passou. Inesperadamente,
Julieta pega no punhal de Romeu e mata-se, pois já
não tem motivos para viver. A tragédia tem um
grande impacto em ambas as famílias ( os
Montagues e os Capulet). As duas famílias estão tão
magoadas com a morte dos seus dois únicos
descendentes, que decidem nunca mais lutar e
fazem as pazes.

William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 in
Stratford-Avon, England, and enjoyed a full life until
age 12. Since then, the bankruptcy of his father, was
forced to change his studies for the hard work, going
