Bangladesh Study commissioned by Swedish International Development Cooperation
Agency (Sida) Bangladesh Reality Checks: a longitudinal study looking at
primary healthcare and primary education. The overall objective of the Reality
Check Study is to listen to, try to understand and to convey, poor people’s
perspectives on development, particularly in relation to the supply and quality
of local services within the health and education sectors, and with special focus
on the service delivered by the sector programmes in health (HNPSP) and
primary education (PEDPII)
As a Field Team Member assigned to the North field team for the RC project,
working closely with the Field Team Leader. Conducted conversations /
discussions as directed by the FTL and supported the FTL in planning and
carrying out field work in the designated geographic area including
documenting and analysing collected field data.
Jan 05 – Present Coordinator of Training and Research, Institute of Livelihood Studies (ILS)
Bangladesh General role and responsibilities:
 Coordinate trainings, design training courses on different issues and
needs based, prepare training module and materials;

Mar 02 – Jun 03 Community Development Coordinator (Senior Consultant), Coastal
Embankment Rehabilitation Project (CERP) a project funded by the European
Union, implementing agency BWDB.
Bangladesh General activities:
 Project management, established and maintained liaison with rural
communities, NGOs, other project personnel, concerned government
agencies and stakeholders in community development programs.
 Arranged all formalities with a team for Settlement program on the
embankment of coastal belt through baseline surveys and PRA followed by
formulation of action plans with the participation of all stakeholders and
residing selected people on the embankment.
 Mobilized necessary resources required for organizing the local
stakeholders into groups so that they took part in project activities.
 Initiated activities towards making the rural community people active on
various levels of resettlement, aforestation, operation and maintenance and
other sustained development efforts towards viable existence of the sub
projects.
 Supervised the activities of the community development specialists and
other NGO personnel. Assisted partners for community mobilization, group
formation, utilization of community development fund and other related
activities.
 Prepared work plans and regular reports on various aspects of the
community development activities.
Training activities:
 Assessed training needs, prepared training plans and calendar, training
materials, modules etc.
 Organized Workshop on People managed Credit Systems
 Imparted training according to the project proposal and assisted the
Training Coordinator. Conducted training on rights based community issues,
embankment maintenance, disaster preparedness, gender issues,
monitoring through PRA method, for the staff of BWDB and partner NGOs

Aug 00 – Jul 01 Training Coordinator, ADD (Action on Disability and Development)
Bangladesh ADD is an International UK based organization. This position of Training
Coordinator is equivalent of the post of deputy Program Manager. The major
responsibility was to coordinate and to communicate with different NGOs,
INGOs and GOs in the relevant issues.
Specific responsibilities included:
 Provided leading role to the program;
 Identified the key partners for ADD’s program to mainstream disability
issues and undertake lobbying and advocacy work.
 Supported ADD’s staff and DPOs (Disabled Peoples Organizations) and
other partners to build their capacity.

 Developed the training curricula, training modules and materials.
 Prepared training plans for HRD training as well as disability & health issues
and skill development training.
 Prepared credit policy, which gave priority for the disabled women and
adolescent girls.
Jul 97 – Jun 00 Disaster and Training Coordinator, ActionAid Bangladesh (INGO)
Bangladesh Responsibilities included:
 Designed the various training modules for disaster preparedness &
management, First Aid, consciousness raising, development management
and leadership
 Prepared training calendar, plan and training budget.
 Prepared contingency plan on disaster management for the staff and chars
people and gave emphasis on women in the cyclone shelter to ensure their
security.
 During Disaster periods, organized and coordinated the control room to
mitigate the damages through relief work.
 Prepared a curriculum on Child Education which was similar to NFPE,
organized study cycles and a reader’s forum for the staff and beneficiaries.
 Evaluated all activities and assessed the impacts and disseminated the
outcome of the impact study among other sector coordinators and
community people.
 Assessed the training impact and reviewed the training modules to increase
effectiveness of messages in the working area.
 Being a member of the Gender Working Group of ActionAid Bangladesh,
worked on gender sensitization (colleagues, partners).
 Member of the Core Training Team on gender (9 members) ActionAid to
mainstream gender.
 Reviewed the human resource management policy to bring gender balance
through some positive discrimination.
 Assisted the Project Director in the implementation of project activities and
took part in the budget allocation of the annual and supplementary budget.
