The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center is pleased to announce that they have
been awarded the Multicultural Undergraduate Summer Internship Grant from the Getty
Foundation, a program that aims to increase the diversity in professions related to museums and
visual arts, giving students experience in key areas such as curatorial work, conservation,
education, publications, and related programmatic activities. The JACCC is one of the
participating organizations in the Los Angeles County that offer internships for outstanding
students who are members of groups currently underrepresented in these professions, including
individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American and Pacific Islander
descent. The Visual Arts Intern at the JACCC will work directly with the Visual Arts department,
experiencing first-hand the work, organization and installation that goes into setting up this
summer¶s programs, including the Struggling Cities, Straw Wattle and 71st Annual Nisei Week
exhibitions; the On the Veranda Lecture Series; and JACCC's annual Movies on the Plaza
screening. To be eligible for the Visual Arts Internship candidates must be a currently enrolled
undergraduate, having completed at least one semester of college by June 2011 or complete their
degree by September 1, 2011. Candidates must be a resident of or attend college in Los Angeles
County, and be a United States Citizen or permanent resident. Intern candidates may come from
any area of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous commitment
to the visual arts. The intern will receive a gross salary of $3,500 for a ten-week period atthe
JACCC. Internships are a full-time position running from mid-June through mid-August. Those

The intern will work under the direction of the Museum Administrator, to plan and develop two
highlight tours of the William S. Hart Museum. Currently, the Hart Museum offers free general
tours of the famed silent film star¶s retirement mansion that includes various aspects of William S.
Hart¶s life and legacy. The intern¶s project will include the research and organization of two new
tours of which one will focus on William S. Hart¶s acting career (theater and film) while the
second tour will highlight the museum building¶s historic architecture. Please note that this
internship will take place during summer 2011 at the William S. Hart Museum in Newhall, CA.
Intern schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 40 hours per week. The Getty Multicultural
Undergraduate Internship at the William S. Hart Museum is intended specifically for outstanding
students who are members of groups currently underrepresented in museum professions:
individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander
descent. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduates who reside or attend
college in Los Angeles County, will have completed at least one semester of college by June 2011,

McGladrey Capital Markets internship program is open to students enrolled in undergraduate and
graduate programs. Applicants must demonstrate a keen desire to learn about the investment
banking industry, and to develop their careers in the industry. Interns will be assigned various
projects based on business needs and the individual¶s skill sets and interests. Intern will work on a
variety of M&A advisory and private placement/capital raising transactions in various stages.
Support an industry specific team and strategy including Aerospace & Defense, Basic Industries,
Healthcare, Technology, Gaming, Media, Energy, Consumer Products, Chemicals & Plastics,
Infrastructure, and Test & Measurement. Individuals will be assigned a wide variety of projects
within the investment banking groups and given as much responsibility as their experience and

Through a grant provided by the Getty Foundation, The Autry is able to offer this summer
internship. The purpose of the Multicultural Internship Program is to increase diversity in the
professions related to museums and the visual arts, and to provide support for local organizations.
Under the supervision of Carolyn Brucken, Chief Curator, the Curatorial Intern will work as part
of the curatorial team to learn about the full range of activities in exhibition research, development,
and installation. The intern will participate in research and development for two installations
scheduled for the summer and fall of 2011. The two projects include: 1) working with Ms.
Brucken on the education component for a new exhibit of 19th century historic clothing
documenting people on the western military frontier and 2) working with Jeffrey Richardson,
Associate Curator of Western History and Popular Culture, on the installation of a gallery
exploring the history of Samuel Colt¶s revolutionary revolver in the American West. Together,
these two projects will provide insight into different stages of an exhibition project. Second, the
intern will participate as a member of the curatorial department in the development of a
downloadable application that will tell the unexpected history of the West through individual
artifacts in the Autry¶s permanent collections. The intern will learn how to research art and history,
selecting one of the objects to work on in this project and contributing to the development of a
museum application and audio guide that tells the history of the West through 10 objects. The
intern¶s responsibilities will include: working closely with members of the curatorial department,
learning the basics of professional curatorial practices such as handling objects and manuscripts,
researching art and artifacts, designing exhibitions, and developing content in multiple formats for
museum audiences, assisting in developing and testing a prototype of a museum application for
smart phones and tablets, and developing intellectual content for museum application through
historical research, selection of images, and writing of text. The internship will last 10 weeks from
June to August 2011, exact start and end dates to be mutually agreed upon. Eligibility for the
internships is limited to currently enrolled undergraduates who either reside or attend college in
Los Angeles County, will have completed at least one semester of college by June 2011, or who
will complete their undergraduate degree by September 1, 2011. Candidates can be from all areas
of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated previous commitment to the

Mayoral Internship Program. The Mayoral Internship Program offers an unparalleled opportunity to

closely with the Mayor¶s staff, interns will support office operations such as constituent affairs,

studio in Santa Monica, California. Interns will have a minimum of 2 years of successful
completion in an accredited design or art school program. Design and 2D animation candidates

strong working knowledge of either Maya or Cinema 4D applications. A successful intern

AARP staff and volunteers to assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of various
initiatives, campaigns and other focus areas in California. These activities will also provide

state and country. Upper division undergraduates (Juniors and Seniors) in Gerontology, Public
Policy, Public Health, Social Work or related areas of study, or students currently working on a
