your new device, internet service and email.
GETTING

Broadband Cable. Of course, the CD includes detailed instructions

on the following pages.

If your modem or outlets are in another room, please watch the


steps o n the CD any way, and then use this printe d guide to help
you recall what to do.

If your ADSL modem will be sharing the same outlet, you can plug STEP 1

internet connection should be up and running. Going to a website
is the best way to check. But the light indicators on your modem

issues shouldn’t stop you enjoying the view, leaving your ‘window’

NON-GENUINE WEBSITES
Some criminals create authentic looking websites that appear to
offer legitimate goods and services. (This is sometimes known as
p hishing.) H owever, these sites are simply d esigne d to steal cre dit
card and email details, with no intention of providing what you
p ay f o r.

HOAX EMAILS
Web criminals have also been known to circulate emails that
a p p e a r t o co m e f r o m a l e g itim a t e co m p a ny. Using a v a r ie t y o f
(false) reasons, they will ask you to confirm your account details,
passwords and so on by either return email or via a web page.
It is highly unlikely that a company would ever need you to
confirm your confidential information – and certainly not over the
internet. These scams are usually a way of gathering confidential
information from unwary web users. BigPond never asks Members
