Hello everyone. For those of you that don’t know, I’m Abigail, and I’m Johnna.
Sunday, April 24, 2011
Upon surveying the content of our campus, we determined it important to represent several different aspects. We
wanted to represent the potential to move forward (both physically....

We wanted the graphic element we brought in to be all-encompassing because none of us are "just..." anything. We're not just
designers or painters. We are all well rounded, capable artists.

The circle became an obvious manifestation of all that we wanted to represent. Each circle works within the system,
thereby becoming a part of the whole, supporting each other throughout the identity. However, upon inspection of a
perfect sphere, we realized how imperfect a perfect circle would really be.
Sunday, April 24, 2011
We decided that our circles should be imperfect and slightly skewed. The imperfection represents human nature
(in that none of us are perfect) as well as the hands-on approach we all take in our artwork.

Other than the skewed circle, we maintained unity with the existing KCAI branding through
the use of the campus outline graphic, the green and orange of the KCAI color palette, and
the standard typefaces.

express KCAI Only parking, reserved parking, visitor parking, and etc. These signs could be
applied with stencil and spray paint.

This is our site, street, and building identification system as well as our directory. The top
most element is the street you have your back to while standing at the sign and the second
circle tells you what building you’re looking at so you can easily find yourself on the map and
get to where you need to be.
Sunday, April 24, 2011
Any free standing signs would be created using metal poles and translucent acrylic plates.

Our internal directory would reaffirm what building you’re in and then point you in the
direction of several elements throughout the building such as restrooms and auditoriums.

be created with the same translucent acrylic plates as used on external free-standing
signage.

room number, or in this case, room name.
