CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Welfare gives many meanings and ideas that is health, prosperity,

happiness and the development of human resources. The different elements of

welfare like physical, mental and emotional well being.

According to ILO report, labor welfare refers to as “such service, facilities

and amenities as may be established in or in the vicinity of undertaking the enable

the person employed in them to perform their work in healthy, congenial

surrounding and provided with amenities conductive to good healthy and high

moral”.

The purpose of providing welfare amenities is to bring about the

development of the whole personality of the worker his social, psychological,

economic, moral, cultural and intellectual development to make him a good

member of the family.

Generally welfare services are classified into two categories. They are intra

murals and extra murals facilities. They are

 Welfare measures imposed by law, called statutory provision, which are

compulsory in nature and directed by law and legislation.

 Welfare measures undertaken in voluntary basis (i.e.) provided by employees

themselves out of humanitarian or economic or civic consideration.

NEEDS OF THE STUDY:

There are various types of welfare measures that are given to the employees

in industries. These welfare measures are called statutory non-statutory welfare

measures. Through this research study, the researcher is going to find out whether

the benefits are fully reaching the employees to their satisfaction.

The researcher can find out the effectiveness and efficiency of these welfare

measures through this research study. This research study also helps to find out

the job satisfaction of the employees through the welfare measurers.

This research study will help to find out the motivation level of the

employees. That is the researcher can find out how well the employees are

motivated through the benefits (welfare measures) given to them. The study also

helps in analyzing the socio-economic status of the employees as a guide for the

upcoming students who would like to pursue their research study in this topic.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

• To study nature and objectives of welfare measures.

• To find out the opinions of employee about welfare measures.

• To find out ways and means about effective implementation of existing welfare

measures.

• To evaluate the effect of welfare measures on the employees.

• To suggest new and improved of welfare in addition to existing ones.

• To identify the factor influencing their satisfaction and dissatisfaction towards

welfare measures provided by TEL.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

 The data is limited to the sample population and is limited to Tamil Nadu
Industrial Explosives Limited.

 The time period of the study is limited for four weeks.

 Limitations were imposed in gaining access to the TEL for security


reasons due to which the interviews were conducted either outside TEL
premises or during non-working hours.

 The study was limited to the Vellore Town and hence it may not be
generalized.

 Poor response from certain respondents while collecting the questionnaire.

The analysis is made for all-important attributes and inference
reveals the results, which are drawn from the analysis.

Chapter 5: Findings, Suggestions and Conclusion


It consists of Findings of the study which are drawn from the
inference, Suggestions to the Company, which are necessary for the future
development and finally conclusions.
