Anatomy of a Nation in Decline - Part 1
A Prophetic Word for America
The killing of Osama bin Laden this week was the result of dogged
intelligence gathering over the decade since 9/11, as well as a perfectly
executed mission by the American military. Bin Laden’s death turns a page
in the chapter of the global war on terrorism, but it should not be seen as a
sign that the U.S. is resurgent. We want to take a more macro perspective –
above al Qaeda and global terrorism, above political party and even above
America itself – and find out what is God’s view of where the U.S. is
headed, and what life will be like in the future. This prophetic inquiry is not
new for me - I prophesied back in 1992 that we could expect a massive
shaking of the financial systems: The day and the hour is coming of great
economic judgment upon financial systems on the earth. The United States,
the economy in the western world is on the edge of the brink of disaster I
believe. It's being propped up artificially. In the fullness of time we are
going to see some kind of a collapse - I don't know if it will be a full
collapse or just a great shaking - and a recession and depression. I was
recently reminded of that prophetic word and while it is certainly correct, I
had a much more complete and clear prophetic sighting in 2008 as the
economic meltdown unfolded. Nearly 2 ½ years after that more enhanced
prophetic briefs I am calling Anatomy of a Nation in Decline – this is
something that every American needs to read and understand.
The series of events that led up to
this prophetic sighting are
significant. In early September
2008, two hurricanes made landfall
in the Gulf Coast region of Texas;
while both Gustav and Ike were
smaller (Category 2) storms, they
caused the shutdown of oil refineries
in the region – an area that accounts
for about 20% of the nation’s gas
and diesel production. The Colonial
Pipeline typically delivers 100
million gallons of petroleum
products throughout the southeastern
United States every day, but it was
not running at full capacity and there
was a shortage of gasoline in Atlanta
where I live.
On September 10th I was preparing to leave the country and wanted to fill
the car with gas before departing – local restrictions prohibited me from
fully filling my tank, and I had to pay twice the normal price per gallon. I

was within me and I simply knew it. This insight God instantaneously gave me was not disassociated from that
which I already knew. It was more like a correct arrangement of what I understood about the purposes of God in
the earth, and an enhanced understanding and keen insight about what will happen in the future. It was a very
strange thing and hard to fully describe, but it was an impartation in my spirit and it made sense in my mind
immediately.

One of the first things I knew was that there would be shortages of food and water. Right behind the gas station is
a grocery store; it is the one closest to my house where we do most of our shopping. I suddenly knew the time was
coming when there would be widespread panic and massive social disorder as people dealt with shortages not
only of gasoline but of food and water.

I didn’t have a panoramic vision or a series of flashes that flitted through my mind. It was more like all of the
conditions that were around me were lifted to a higher level of understanding and knowledge and I knew where
they were going and what they would produce. Though we were in the early days immediately after Lehman
Brothers, I knew the meltdown would not be limited or short-term but deep and systemic. I understood the true
nature of the meltdown and its impact on the nation’s leaders – it was as if I could see into the minds of these
world leaders and I understood their panic due to their shock and their inability to fix what was broken.

When the G-20 met three times in the next 12 months to try and agree on international economic policy to fix the
economy and try and prevent another crash, I recognized that their gathering had much to do with fulfillment of
ancient Scriptures:

What Does the Future Hold?

In this first article I am providing a brief overview into each realm of life – political, economic, social, etc. – and
we will be able to track this series of prophetic projections and see how they eventualize and come to pass. I know
there are some who will read these words and feel that they are negative or that it is “bad news” – but that is not a
correct angle of sight about what the Lord showed me at all. There was no sense of condemnation or anger that I
received from the Lord. In fact, as He made me know these things my heart was filled with fervor and passion for
God and for His purposes being enacted in the earth.

Though there will be pain and crisis, I could see into the fact that all of the crises which would impact the earth
are redemptive at their core – God has a plan and He is moving all nations towards the point of culmination and
ultimate redemption. Anatomy of a Nation in Decline will provide understanding into current conditions and also

look into that which is to come. There will be specific articles that will provide prophetic analysis of that which
the Lord made me understand, and future articles will fill out each section with more specific and detailed
projections.

Economic
At some point the consequences of self-indulgence – fueled by personal and national indebtedness – will come
due in an even greater way than it did during economic meltdown of 2008. The nation is nearly $15 trillion in debt
yet it continues to print money to flood the system with cash to try and hold off an even greater recession and
economic crash. Nearly every state is struggling with record deficits, and nearly all of them are constitutionally
bound to balance their budget every year, forcing them to make more and more severe budget cuts. The future will
be all about an economy that features: a) budget cuts b) increased taxes c) austerity measures d) reduced pensions
for private and public employees, etc.

Administrations may change in Washington and a new set of politicians take an entirely new course, but the
ultimate end will not change. America is headed towards insolvency not just because of over spending, self-
indulgence and a lack of global competitiveness – but because the whole earth is being seized and one of the
primary pressure points is economic.

Political
None of the political parties have answers nor will they be given any – they have been abandoned by God and left
to fight among themselves. The political processes will come to a place of deadlock and impotence, unable to lead
the nation in fiscal or legislative wholeness due to many factors, including: a) decreasing tax revenue based on an
economy that continues to falter b) increased polarization and rancor among politicians who may have genuinely
sought to serve their nation/state/municipality, but which have been stymied by the reality of a nation in decline c)
a lack of moral clarity and a removal of long held principles necessary for governance d) cries by one party
against another that their actions or stances are unconstitutional, etc.

There will be political assassinations and the federal union which has endured every test for the last 200 years will
be stressed to the breaking point. Extreme alternative political solutions will be offered – from radical ideological
zealots on both sides to states moving towards seceding – and the nation which once demonstrated effective
governmental systems to other parts of the world will become a nation in political turmoil and chaos. Military
hardware will rumble through the streets of our cities in a quest to quell rioting and anarchy, including Washington
DC where there will be a military challenge to the civilian government of the nation.

Social
The core structures of the family have been under assault for decades,
and they will continue to suffer with high levels of divorce, same sex
marriage and single parent households. The strong push towards

Reference Points
In order to correctly understand this prophetic analysis we must first deal with the context of our
