Executive Summary :-
Outdoor recreation or outdoor activities are leisure pursuits engaged in
outside, especially in (but not limited to) natural or semi-natural settings out
of town. It includes
adventure, racing, backpacking, bicycling, camping, canoeing, caving, fishing
, hiking, horseback, riding, hunting, kayaking, mountaineering, mushing, phot
ography, adventure park, rock climbing, running, sailing, skiing, and surfing.
Outdoor recreation may also refer to a team sport game or practice held in
an outdoor setting. Physical activity both indoors and outdoors is important
for child to develop properly. When children’s are active, it gives them the
opportunity to learn, grow and explore their environment. Every time a child
kicks, runs, rolls, stretches or turns, they are learning. There is a whole world
to be explored by your child. Making children’s spend too much time in
enclosed spaces such as playpens, cribs or strollers can hinder their
development and cheat them out of the opportunity to learn. Letting your
little one spend time outdoors opens their world to a wide variety of sensory
experiences. The two primary purposes for outdoor activities are beneficial
use and pleasurable appreciation. The outdoors as a physical or social
setting may meet the needs of physical health, self-sufficiency, risk-taking,
the building of social ties (including team building) and the needs of
achievement (such as practicing, enhancing and challenging skills, testing
stamina and endurance, and seeking adventure or excitement).

The research proposal gives the statement, objective for the research
work. The research proposal also gives the list of the proposed literature
review books and the research proposal also focuses on the benefits of the
study. The research proposal considers, what design methods and the
design tools that can be used and the ones we plan to use. Here, we also
give the sample of the final form of the results. We give the tentative budget
and schedule of completion for the project. The research proposal is

comprehensive study of the proposed research that we plan to conduct. The

research will be conducted on “level of outdoor physical activities among the
teenagers”. The main aim of conducting the research is to find out the level
of outdoor physical activities among teen agers’. The research will help us
determine how much do teen agers spend time on outdoor physical
activities, how to improve outdoor physical activities among teen agers and
the impact of outdoor physical activities on health of teenagers. Descriptive
research design would be used for conducting the research. Descriptive
design is used when the subject matter of the research topic is neither
absolutely ambiguous nor absolutely certain. For collecting primary data,
printed form consisting of a questionnaire will be distributed and will be
collected back after the respondents have filled it. A sample of 150 will be
used for the research purpose. Survey will be used to gather information
about when do teenagers are involved in outdoor physical activities and how
it affects their real life. This survey will be done with the help of a
questionnaire. This will be done with the help of personal interaction.

The major limitations of this project can be missing responses, bias

responses, constraints due to time and money and coverage of research.
The ultimate aim of the research is to find out ‘How much time do teenagers
spend in outdoor physical activities’ and how can it be improve upon if time
spent is not sufficient. The research will help people know about outdoor
physical activities and their benefits and how it improves creativity and
health.

Benefits Of the Study :

• The study will help us understand the various levels of outdoor

physical activities among teen agers.

• The study will help us understand as to why there is a change in level

of physical activities among teenagers.

• Outdoor physical activities can be improved upon if they are below the
expected level which will help to develop good physique for teenagers.

Importance of the Study :

The research will help us analyze:

• Reasons for change in level of physical activities among teenagers..

• Which factors influence the most for change in level physical activities
among teenagers.

• This will help us understand the perceptions among teen agers

towards outdoor physical activities.

RESEARCH DESIGN :

The Research design of our project has:

1. Exploratory Research

2. Descriptive Research.

Exploratory Research: - This research allow us to gain information on a

subject that we may have previously known little about and furthermore, can
also provide a platform upon which a formalised research project can be
built. Exploratory research is used to assess the situation in hand with the
minimum cost and time possible. In this research project, we wanted to
study the level of physical activities in teenagers & also study the different
phases in teenagers life.

Descriptive Research: - Descriptive research answers the questions who,

what, where, when and how. This will help us to measure whether there is an
increase or decrease in the level of physical activities amongst teenagers.
For this reason, we designed a questionnaire which would help us to study
the level of physical activities among teenagers response depending on
various Parameters that influence a customer’s satisfaction level.

DETAILS OF PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION :

a. Data Collection Methods

Method Selected- Survey method

Reasons:

- Our topic is about teenagers and we have to assess their attitudes and
beliefs towards a number of factors. Hence we use survey method which
can capture a wide variety of information.

- Also it is relatively easy to administer.

b. Communication approach with the Respondents

a. Personal Interview
b. E-mail
c. Telephonic Interview

c. Data Collection Instruments

Questionnaire

SAMPLING STRATEGY :

1. Target Population

The Population consists of people in the age group of 14-25.

2. Sample frame

The Sample frame consists of people in the age group of 14-25 within the
city limits of Mumbai.

3. Sampling Method

Probability sampling is used as the sampling frame is known, population is

homogeneous and population details are available.

4. Sampling Procedure

We will use simple random sampling

5. Description of the Sample

n= (Z2 pq)/E2
where,

n= no. of samples

p= ratio of success

11

q=ratio of failure

Z= confidence level

E= standard error

2
N= (1.96

*0.5*0.5)/0.08

After doing an analysis we will have a sample size of 150. The data will be
collected by conducting telephonic interviews & one to one interviews
people in the age group of 14-25 within the city limits of Mumbai.

Break-up of the Sample

• On the basis of gender

No. of Females: 75

No. of Males: 75

• On the basis of area

Byculla : 30

Bhayander : 40

Malad : 40

DATA ANALYSIS

The main data analysis tools used will be

1. Editing-

The process includes the review of the data to ensure maximum accuracy and unambiguity.
Careful editing in the early process of data collection will be subject to misunderstanding of
instructions, errors in recording and other problems at a stage when it is still possible to
eliminate them from the later stages of the study.

2. Coding –

The process includes careful interpretation and good judgment of the data to ensure that the
meaning of the responses and the meaning of the category are consistently and uniformly
matched.

The data will be analyzed using the following statistical tools

i. Correlation and regression.

ii. Time-series
iii. Hypothesis testing will also be undertaken.

To Aid in the process of Data Analysis we propose to use the following statistical soft-wares:

i. SPSS
ii. Microsoft Excel

Results will be depicted through:

i. Graphs: Bar diagrams

ii. Pie Charts
