Introduction

1.1 Test Strategy

Provide a brief, overview of your test strategy. This section should be targeted
towards those who may not have time to read the entire plan, but have interest in
how you will validate the project success.

Identify the systems or solution components to be tested as part of this test plan.

1.3 Out of Scope

Identify any systems, requirements, or scenarios which will not be tested as part
of this test plan.

1.4 Roles & Responsibilities

Describe the team responsible for testing. Identify each role, and the specific
responsibilities and expectations of that role.

If applicable, list any assumptions which first must be made in order to complete

If any constraints exist by which the testing team will be held, they should be

section should identify for the reader the major components to be tested;
allowing them to quickly point out omissions.

3 Test Deliverables
3.1 Documents
Identify the documents to be created as part of this test plan.
Document Description
Test Plan The Test Plan is derived from the Requirements, Functional
Specs, and detailed Design Specs. The Test Plan identifies
the details of the test approach, identifying the associated test
case areas within the specific product for this release cycle.
Test Schedule The Test Schedule is the responsibility of the Test Lead and
will be based on information from the Project Schedule (done
by Product Manager). The Test Schedule may be done in MS
Project.
Test Cases Test Cases will be created for each major function or feature to
be tested. Test Cases will contain scripts for testing
functionality.

3.2 Test Data

This section identifies any test data that will be used during the testing. It also
identifies any test data that will need to be created for testing.

4 Resource & Environment Needs

4.1 Hardware
Describe any hardware required to conduct the test plan.

4.2 Software
Describe any software required to perform the tests. This should not include
tools for testing, but only software to be tested.

4.3 System Access

If testers require access to certain systems in order to execute test scripts,
identify those systems here and the appropriate level of access needed.

4.4 Test Tools

List any software tools to be used during the testing process. This list may
include software for tracking issues, running test scripts, load testing, etc.
