Astrology Helps Newsletter

Week of March 14, 2011, in which we continue our exploration into

the head of Charlie Sheen, check out what’s happening with all the signs
and answer the question that at one time or another has kept most of us up
at night:What went wrong?

What A Devil
(Part Two)

Last week we did a quick scan of Mr. Sheen’s volatility and verbal aggressiveness
as found in his natal chart. This week, we’re going to look at the chart for the year to
see if there are any clues as to what exactly is being activated in his natal chart.
In the image below, the inside ring is Sheen’s natal chart and the outside ring
shows his planets for the current year.
As we established last week, Mercury plays a large role in this chart.
Placed in the sign of Leo, Mercury symbolizes talk that is BIG & LOUD.
For the current year, we find Mercury (weak in the sign of Scorpio) conjunct Mars
(angry talk, sexual talk) both planets in tense aspect to the midheaven (career).

Further, we have both Mars and Venus in the current year in a tense aspect with
Sheen’s Sun. Finally, we have the Moon for the current year (in Leo, thus dramatic)
conjuncting Sheen’s natal Mercury.

What’s interesting in the chart for this year is the high profile of Mars, as
mentioned above. Of course, the classic symbolism of Mars is as the god
of war, which fits Sheen’s current behavior. He’s a man at war, not only with the
world but with himself as well.

The Sky Ahead

Aries: Do not to dwell on trivial matters this week. Instead, use your mental energies
to separate what is relevant from what is inconsequential. If differences arise, don’t
lose your temper or hold a grudge, but simply work out the problem and proceed.
The endpoint is progress, not indulgence in conflict.

Taurus: Allow the good aspects to Mercury and Jupiter refine and expand your
presentation this week. Generosity with those around you will help make things
run smoothly and give you good standing. Beware of butting in where you’re not
needed, but insteand be generous when you are needed.

Gemini: With the entrance of Mercury into Aries, it’s time for you to show
more self-assertion and confidence. If you’re having anxiety about yourself,
spend a little time and think about what is holding you back. A little self-doubt can
be good, but if taken too far it becomes a strait jacket.

Cancer: Your thinking and emotions may be at odds early in the week. By
Wednesday, however, you should have a little more focus and fire. Take the last
half of the week to accomplish some of the things you’ve been putting off. If there’s a
misunderstanding with someone close to you, try to resolve it now.

Leo: If you’re feeling abandoned, it’s because you haven’t figured out what all your
emotions add up to. One thing that might help is if you make peace with the fact
that those around you are going to be unpredictable. The part that’s harder to face
is that sometimes you’re on unpredictable as well.

Virgo: This week, and the following week as well, you may be feeling like you’re
taking two steps forward and one step back. One way of dealing with this is by taking
better care of yourself. Sometimes it’s not a matter of advancing or retreating, but a
matter of keeping yourself safe where you are.

Libra: Just because they’re different, don’t be afraid to put your ideas forward.
People actually respect and look to you for another perspective because they realize
you only want what’s best for the situation. That’s a good position to be in, but if you
don’t act upon it what’s the point of having good ideas?
Scorpio: Here’s the simple truth: you can’t control other people. Instead of becoming
frustrated with that fact, you can use to take better care of yourself. Use the week to
become calm and centered. As for dealing with others, realize that letting off steam at
the wrong time is not constructive but damaging.

Sagittarius: Beware of mood swings, particularly early in the week. A favorable

aspect to Venus may bring large enthusiasms but the square to the Moon may
dampen ambitions. Overall, there may be a general sense of restriction, as the
opposition to Saturn gets closer. Counteract this with some sober thining.

Capricorn: There may be a lot of tension, a lot of stress through the week as your
planet, Saturn, makes some hard aspects. The best way to deal with this strife is
maintaining cool and taking the higher road. That means staying balanced and
not letting others push you into actions you don’t deem wise.

Aquarius: Stay loyal to your friends, even if their behavior is out of the ordinary.
There may be a tendency for frustration with other, but the best way to deal with
that is not through negativity or moodiness. A better path is learning through mistakes,
both your own and others.

Pisces: With effort, the opportunity you’ve been seeking may start to
take root. Use the week to learn new skills and to begin exploring your
goals. The larger cycle of opportunity and challenge is going to last for several
months. Don’t waste this period by not paying attention.

Casebook of Horary Astrology

What Went Wrong?

This horary was received several months ago from a client who was very clear about what
she wanted and what she didn’t want: “I don’t want a yearly reading. I want to ask a simple
question: What went wrong?”

“Wrong in regards to what?” I emailed in reply.

“Wrong in regards to my last relationship,” came the answer.

The chart and my reply can be found below:

From a relationship perspective the chart is painful. She’s Venus, he’s Mars
and their conjunct (together) in the 12th house, the most unfortunate area
of a chart. Their placement here suggests something illicit, out of sight,
secretive. In horary charts, the question is also ruled by the Moon, which,
placed here in Capricorn, is in terrible shape. Making matters worse, that Moon is
in a tense aspect with both Venus and Mars, even as it rules the house of career.

My answer was as follows:

“The two of you appeared to have met at or through work. The attraction was mutual
but confusing in that you either had sex a couple of times or not at all. The entire
relationship felt as if the two of you were trying to drive with your brakes on.
He broke it off, NOT because of anything that you did and NOT because he wasn’t
attracted to you. What went wrong is that he felt overwhelmed by what was happening
between you, which is why it fell apart and why he, not you, tore it apart.
If you’re wondering what you could have done differently, the chart suggests:
there’s nothing you could have done differently. Which, I realize,
is the hardest answer of all, because we always think there’s a reason or
a cause for something. But it doesn’t mean we can do anything about it.”
