CONGRATULATIONS on your new LINUS bike.
A new
bike is like a new best friend, but before you feel the
wind and the big smile across your face there a few
things to be done. First, please read this manual. It’s
not long and it is an important introduction to the safe
operation and maintenance of your bike. We strongly
advise that your bike be assembled by a qualified
bicycle mechanic. There’s no shame in it. It doesn’t cost
much and you’ll be supporting your local bike shop.
LINUS bikes are made with the highest quality and
care, and each bike is rigorously tested but like any
machine your bike requires constant attention and
LI S maintenance. Before each ride do a general check of
the following:
• Check that the seat post is set to the correct
height and is firmly tightened,
• Check the handlebars are secure and
properly aligned.
• Check that your tires are firm, and filled to the
designated tire pressure.
• Check the wheels are firmly attached to the
forks and the axle nuts are securely tightened
• Check the brakes are working properly.
• Always wear a protective helmet
MANUAL • Riding at night is dangerous business, if you
have to ride at night than the bike must have
the appropriate and correctly placed
reflectors and front and rear lights.
AND • Always obey and respect the rules of the
road.
Be sure to take your bike for an annual service, and if
you are commuting daily or just ride a lot, have it
serviced twice yearly. Always store your bike inside.
WARRANTY Storing your bike outside could compromise the
integrity of its parts which could result in mechanical

1 FRONT FENDER
The front fender is attached at the fork crown. B 10MM NUT AND BOLT MOUNTING SYSTEM
Depending on your bike, there are two possible ways in
which to mount your front fender. The first is the caliper Place the fender assembly onto the fork making sure
brake mounting system(see figure A ), and the second the attachment hole on the fork crown and fender

10mm hex bolt through the 1st washer, then the fender 2 FRONT WHEEL
Identify the mounting system used on your bicycle and
follow the given instructions for that particular type of bracket, then the fork crown, then the 2nd washer and
mounting system. fasten the nut at the back of the forkcrown. Do not fully
tighten yet.
For models with a front brake, flip quick release lever to
the open position, creating space for the tire to pass
between the brake pads. See diagram below.
A CALIPER BRAKE MOUNTING SYSTEM
With an allen wrench, loosen the nut at the back of the
fork crown and slide the brake bolt from the fork. As

drawn in figure A , place the fender into position
making sure that the brake pads are on either side of
the fender and the attachment hole and fender bracket
hole line up. Re-attach the brake, passing the brake OPEN
bolt through the washer and then the fender bracket
and fork crown and fastening the nut at the back of the
forkcrown. Do not fully tighten yet.

 2 FRONT WHEEL CONT.
As pictured in the diagram below, the axle nuts and
washers are already on the axle. Place the fork on the
axle with the retaining washers on the outside of the
fork blades, and the axle nuts on the outside of the
retaining washers. The raised tip of the retaining
washers must point towards the fork. This tip will fit into
the small hole on the side of each fork blade.
Tighten each axle nut to the point that they are
semi-tight. Then, alternately, tighten each nut, one then
the other… left nut, right nut, left nut, right nut, until
both nuts are firmly tightened.
For models with a front brake, now flip the quick
release lever to closed position. Spin the wheel to
confirm that the weel is centered between the fork
blades and that it clears the brake pads. Squeeze the
brake lever to check that the brakes are operating
correctly. For brake adjustments refer to the attached
technical brake manual.
3 HANDLEBARS
A As in the diagram below, loosen the bolt at the top
of stem with an allen key. Take care to ensure that all
cables are free of tangles and place the handlebar stem
into the top of the head tube. Be sure to insert the stem
past the minimum insertion mark. Now allign the
handlebar so it is perpendicular to the front tire and then
lock its position by tightening the stem bolt.
B Once the handlebar stem is installed into the frame,
rotate the handlebar to the desired position and tighten
the stem’s handlebar anchor bolt. See B below.
Check that all bolts are nice and snug and handlebar is
secure.

4 SEAT ADJUSTMENT
See diagram below. Loosen seat clamp bolt with allen
wrench. Insert seat post past the “minimum insertion”
line (as indicated in the diagram below) and set post to
desired height. Tighten seat clamp bolt firmly. Before
riding ensure that seat is secure and does not swivel
from side to side when force is applied to it.

5 PEDALS
Look for the letters “R” for right, and “L” for left, stamped
on each pedal.
A The right pedal “R” attaches to the chain side
crank arm by turning the spindle clockwise. Start
screwing the pedal by hand to avoid stripping the
threads, and then tighten completely with a wrench.

B The left pedal attaches to the opposite crank arm
by turning spindle counter-clockwise. Start screwing the
pedal by hand to avoid stripping the threads, and then
tighten completely with a wrench.

! WARNING !
Attachment of an incorrect pedal into a crank
arm can strip pedal threads and cause irrepa-
rable damage. Before your first ride, check to
insure your pedals are attached correctly.
LINUS BIKE, INC. LIMITED WARRANTY
1. LINUS BIKE, INC. (Linus) warrants that each new steel frame for
each new bicycle sold or distributed by Linus will be free from defect in
material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of
original retail purchase from an authorized Linus dealer. Please ensure
that this limited warranty is stamped by the authorized Linus dealer at the
time of original retail purchase.
2. Warranty coverage of components not manufactured by Linus will be
covered by the warranty stated by such components’ original manufacturer.
3. This limited warranty is extended only to the original retail purchaser of
the Linus bicycle and cannot be transferred to subsequent purchasers or
4. This limited warranty applies only to a Linus bicycle originally purchased
from an authorized Linus dealer which assembles it at the time of original
retail purchase.
5. For any claim pursuant to this limited warranty to be considered, the
bicycle must be brought to the authorized Linus dealer from which the
bicycle was purchased accompanied by this warranty stamped by the
authorized Linus dealer that made the first retail sale of the bicycle together
with the original, dated sales receipt for the bicycle.
6. This Linus bicycle must not be used for anything other than the use for
which it is intended, and the purchaser must carry out the necessary
maintenance.
7. It is understood that any liability resulting from the incorrect use of the
bicycle or deviation from the recommendations of Linus or an authorized
Linus dealer is the sole and only responsibility of the purchaser.
8. Warranty decisions will be made solely by Linus.
9. Linus’ sole obligations under this limited warranty and/or any implied
warranty shall be limited to repairing or replacing the defective part with the
same or most nearly comparable part then available at Linus’ sole
discretion. Labor, shipping and transportation charges are not covered by
this limited warranty. IN NO EVENT SHALL LINUS BE RESPON-
SIBLE FOR DIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR
PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION,
DAMAGES FOR PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR
ECONOMIC LOSSES, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT,
WARRANTY, NEGLIGENCE, PRODUCT LIABILITY OR ANY
OTHER THEORY. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of
damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
10. THIS IS THE ONLY WARRANTY MADE BY LINUS ON ITS
FRAMES AND ANY COMPONENTS, AND THERE ARE NO
WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THOSE HERE
DESCRIBED. ANY WARRANTIES THAT MAY OTHERWISE BE
IMPLIED BY LAW, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXCLUDED. THIS
LIMITED WARRANTY, OR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY, DOES
NOT COVER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR; WORN PARTS,
ADJUSTMENTS, CLEANING, SERVICE, MAINTENANCE OR
TUNE-UPS; DAMAGE OR INJURY CAUSED BY NEGLECT,
