Project Description: The Medical Plan Decision Toolkit is essentially a communication tool through which the employees
are made aware of the various medical plans he/she is eligible for enrolling. It is a product marketed by Hewitt to their
various clients, helping them in making an educated decision while selecting their medical plan. The product has two phases
of development: a) product enhancements (release 2006) b) product implementation with customizations from the base
model. The toolkit is designed around three main tools:
Medical Expense Estimator-Allows an employee to estimate and compare their costs (annual payroll deductions and
annual out-of-pocket expenses) for their medical plans.
Health Plan Comparison Tool-Allows an employee to compare plan prices, how expenses are paid, and coverage for up to
three medical options side-by-side.
Spending Account Estimator-Allows an employee to estimate their eligible Health Care Spending Account expenses and
potentia income tax savings.
MPDT was created as a product marketed by Hewitt to their various clients, helping them in making an educated decision
while selecting their medical plan. The product had two phases of development: a) product enhancements b) product
implementation with customizations from the base model. The product had 16 implementations.

Project Description: This Product is marketed by Hewitt.The retirement choice web site is an interactive, secure, data-
driven site, available via the Internet, with the following core functionality:
Retirement choice modeling functionality: This section enables individuals to compare estimated projected values of the
three choices available to them (Current, Alternative 1, and Alternative 2) by modeling different scenarios.
Election-capture functionality: This section captures an individual’s election, allowing for election changes during the
choice period, and providing a confirmation number with each successfully captured election.
The Retirement choice modeler had a complex underlying calculation engine developed using an excel sheet which was
used to intimate users offline about the plan and the financial gains against each plan. The project initiative was to convert
this excel based modeler into an online tool.
