NATURAL SCIENCE FOR YOUR SKIN

renu and restore

Skin lipids are very important for maintaining the skins barrier function. When this is weakened it leads to dryness and the skin loses the ability to moisturise itself. Lipids are the building blocks of skin cells and help to retain moisture. When the lipid level reduces, the cell does not retain enough moisture so flattens and dies. Lipids are our skin survival kit. We have specially selected three plants; rosehip, blackcurrant and evening primrose. Their seeds are processed to extract oil which is particularly high in oleic, linoleic and linolenic essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are part of the lipid layer and help maintain the suppleness and elasticity of the skin. These ingredients will help prevent skin dryness, restore optimum moisture balance and help maintain the skins barrier function. Variations in the hormonal balance lead to undesirable skin changes. Cell division is delayed and collagen formation reduced which affects the natural moistureretaining ability and elasticity of the skin. This in turn leads to wrinkling. Wild yam and soya have long been used in a nutritional context for soothing the hormonal fluctuations that women experience. Soya is known to stimulate the production of vital lipids, Wild yam stimulates collagen and elastin production. The combination of these two plant extracts help to improve the elasticity and moisture content of the skin.

renu and restructure

Wrinkles can take many forms and result from a number of causes. Surface lines are fine lines that are not deep lying but often numerous. They give the skin a creased look. They are mainly the result of skin dehydration. Our solution is Siberian ginseng extract, used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years and rich in polysaccharides and glycoproteins. When this extract dries on the skin, the structure changes and forms an elegant film that tightens and smoothes the skin immediately. Deeper lying wrinkles originate in the connective tissue that provides support for the skin. They are the result of a lack of collagen. We have incorporated the amino acid hydroxyproline essential in collagen synthesis. It acts to stimulate the contraction of collagen fibres and helps to reinforce and protect the skins structure resulting in firmer, toned skin. Facial muscles are responsible for the formation of dynamic wrinkles expression lines. Over time they can become progressively more noticeable. The contraction of muscle is controlled by the nervous system, this muscle can be stimulated or relaxed depending upon the neurotransmitter they release. Our complex of active marine magnesium, polysaccharides, chicory and algae extracts works to inhibit this contraction, helping to relax fine expression lines with a safe, non-invasive action.

Facial muscles are responsible for the formation of dynamic wrinkles expression lines. Over time they can become progressively more noticeable.

renu and revive

When skin matures the rate of cell renewal slows, the stratum corneum thickens and accumulates dead cells and cell debris. This causes a lack of radiance, dullness and a sallow complexion. We have used a combination of ingredients to stimulate cell regeneration and revive the complexion. Papaya extract, delivered in glycospheres which enhance the penetration and affinity with the skin, gently digests dead skin cells. Lactic acid is the mildest and most effective AHA available. Vitamin C is reputed to help minimise hyperpigmentation (age spots) and even out skin tone.

The skins primary function is to defend and protect. The stratum corneum acts as a barrier to hostile intruders such as free radicals. Free radicals are single atoms which provoke oxidation - it is a chain reaction that can affect the performance of the skins vital functions. Free radicals are generated mainly by atmospheric pollutants and unfiltered UV, but the skin also generates its own free radicals by any toxic or inflammatory reaction or mechanical stress. We have selected three key ingredients to help your skin protect itself; Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant and works together with grape seed extract which is rich in polyphenols. From a tropical habitat, the Cassia Alata plant has developed a powerful defence mechanism. It is rich in flavonoids; particularly K30S Kaempferol. This compound helps to protect nuclear and mitochondrial DNA from degradation. It supports the cells natural repair system by acting as a powerful antioxidant, combating the harmful effects of the sun.

Procedure: To induce a feeling of deep relaxation place your hands over your clients shoulders and gently squeeze as they exhale. To ease away your clients stresses, carry out the relaxation touch as shown on the renu training day. To relax and cleanse the eyes, use Eye Makeup Remover on a warm, damp cotton pad, gently sweeping over the eyelids and outwards to the temples. Warm approximately two pumps of Rich Cream Cleanser in your hands and apply to your clients skin, starting at the neck and working up to the forehead using long, gentle sweeping movements. Remove Rich Cream Cleanser with warmed natural sponges or soft mitts and repeat for a second cleanse. Warm approximately two pumps of Soft Touch Toner in your hands and massage over the clients skin using slow, gentle upward movements.

AFTER CARE
Deep Repair Complex Restoring Cream Rich or Light Instant Smoothing Serum

Apply hot bergamot-scented mitts to the face and shoulders as shown. Cover the clients chest with a warm towel. Leaving the eyes, lips and any area of broken capillaries free, smooth a thin layer of Radiant Skin Peel onto the face and neck as shown. Leave to work on the skin for 5-10 minutes. N.B. a slight tingling sensation may be experienced. Whilst the Radiant Skin Peel is working apply hot bergamot scented mitts to the feet. Then massage feet and lower legs with Enriched Body Cream using the technique as shown. Thoroughly remove the Radiant Skin Peel with warm water and natural facial sponges and tone with Soft Touch Toner. Circle your fingertips through the scalp to release tension in the head. Cleanse your hands using the mitts. Apply Lip and Eye Active Lift. Warm approximately four to six pumps of Nourishing Treatment Oil in your hands and use the aroma-wave to

RENU Lift Facial

Procedure continued:
awaken the senses. Apply to the dcolletage, neck, and face using long, sweeping, lifting movements as shown. Prepare and apply the professional treatment mask to suit the clients individual needs; Nutritious Oat Mask for its deeply nourishing properties or Lifting Algae Mask for its sculpting and skin-relaxing effects. See separate instructions for mask application. While the mask is on, massage your clients hands and arms using Enriched Body Cream. Peel off the mask, removing any residue with damp cotton wool. Tone with Soft Touch Toner. Re-apply a small amount of Lip and Eye Active Lift to the lip and eye areas. Finish with an application of either Restoring Cream Rich or Restoring Cream Light. Massage once through the scalp, gently pulling the hair to complete the Renu Lift Facial. Gently lift your client to an upright position and offer a cup of rosehip tea (optional).

Contra-indications
All the usual facial contra-indications apply. Note - These products contain ingredients at active levels. We therefore advise that a thorough consultation is carried out prior to treatments together with patch testing for any client with hyper-sensitivity or an existing skin condition. Pregnancy The facial can be performed throughout pregnancy although the neck stretches should be avoided during the later stages. Product Avoid the use of Radiant Skin Peel on any vascular areas of skin. Treatment Omit neck stretches on any clients with a history of neck or back problems.

NATURAL SCIENCE FOR YOUR SKIN

RENU Professional Masks

Lifting Algae Mask
Empty the 46g sachet into a bowl and add 150ml of warm water. Mix well with a spatula the mask should be a uniform paste. Working quickly, apply the mask to the face using a spatula. With upward motions, start with the neck area and move towards the hairline. Leave the eye and lip areas free. Create thick edges so that the mask can be easily peeled away. The mask will start to take on a rubbery consistency and should be left on the skin for approximately 10 minutes. Gently slide your fingers underneath the outer edges of the mask and roll it away from the neck and face in one piece. Remove any residue with damp cotton wool and massage in Soft Touch Toner. Complete The renu Lift Facial as indicated in the Treatment Procedure.

Nutritious Oat Mask

Re-apply a small amount of Nourishing Treatment Oil to the treatment area. Empty the 200g of Nutritious Oat Mask into a bowl and add 300ml of water. The temperature of the water depends on the skin type of the client as discussed on the renu training day. Mix quickly but gently to a smooth paste with a spoon or spatula. Do not overmix or the mask will become dough-like. On a flat surface, prepare two 30cm square pieces of gauze one for the lower part of the face from neck to mouth and the other for the upper part of the face from nose to forehead. Keeping the gauzes on the flat surface, smooth of the prepared mask onto the bottom half of one piece. Fold over to make a poultice. Place the warm poultice onto the lower half of the clients face covering the area from neck to upper lip. Repeat this procedure with the other piece of gauze and the remaining of the mask and apply to the upper part of the face from tip of nose to hairline. Leave in place for 10 minutes. Complete the Renu Anti Ageing Facial as directed in the Treatment Procedure.

Procedure: Prepare your client on the couch by placing one folded small towel under her head. Swaddle the body and the feet with two larger towels. Eye cleanse using warm compresss with eye make-up remover. Cleanse face and neck using Rich Cream Cleanser and remove with warm natural sponges. Tone the face and neck using application taught on the training day with Soft Touch Toner. Apply hot bergamot mitts to face, neck and shoulders. Exfoliate the face and neck using Radiant Skin Peel leave on for 5/10 minutes and remove with warm natural sponges. Apply Flash Relax Mask and leave on for 10 minutes, remove with warm natural sponges. Massage the chest and shoulders with Nourishing Treatment Oil while the mask is on. Apply Lip and Eye Active Lift around the treatment areas. Finish with either the application of Restoring Cream Light or Rich depending on the skin type. Massage scalp to complete the treatment.

Contra-indications
All the usual facial contra-indications apply. Note - These products contain ingredients at active levels. We therefore advise that a through consultation is carried out prior to treatments together with patch testing for any client with hyper-sensitivity or an existing skin condition. Pregnancy The facial can be performed throughout pregnancy although the neck stretches should be avoided during the later stages. Product Avoid the use of Radiant Skin Peel on any vascular areas of skin. Treatment Omit neck stretches on any clients with a history of neck or back problems.

This is a rejuvenating and relaxing antiageing hand treatment. Preparations required:
Aromatic Bath, Thermal Peel, Replenishing Treatment Oil, Rescue Mask, Age Defence Balm SPF 15, mitts, Cling Film, Heated mitts if available or pre-heated towel.

Procedure: Remove any nail polish if present. Gentle hand stretching to relax the client using rotations, Flexing and extension of the hands to remove tension. Shape nails as required. Add 3 4 drops of the Aromatic Bath into a bowl of warm water and mix well. Place your clients hands into the milky bath and leave to soften for a few minutes. Note: Ensure water is a comfortable temperature and not too hot. Take one hand out of the bath and without drying, apply a generous application of the Thermal Peel and massage well into the hands and up to the elbow if desired. Note: This product will warm up on contact with damp/wet skin only. Remove peel with a warm, damp mitt, put the clients hand back in the warm water and repeat the application and removal on the other hand.

AFTER CARE

Towel dry both hands and apply a small drop of the Replenishing Treatment Oil to each of the nails and the back of the hand. Massage in, paying particular attention to the nail rim. Push back cuticles. Repeat on the other hand. Massage the hands and arms using your own techniques; efflueurage and kneading movements for 10 minutes. Leaving the oil on the skin, apply a thick layer of the Rescue Mask, wrapping the hands in cling film and sliding them into heated mitts, if available. Alternatively wrap in a hot towel. After 10 minutes remove the hands from the mitts or hot towel. Remove as much of the mask with the cling film as possible. Then remove any remaining residue with warm, damp mitts and then dry the hands. Apply a small amount of the Age Defence Balm and gently massage in. Remove residue from nails with nail varnish remover. Complete the treatment by offering your client a choice of nail colour.
