for you to do your part! We are only $46,000 away from our pledge goal of $125,000.
It is important for EVERY member and friend to complete a card to: indicate your desired membership
status for the coming year • update your contact information • choose how you wish to receive
communications • pledge for the July 2010- June 2012 church year.

Current members and friends should have received a pledge card in the mail in early May.

uucongmia@bellsouth.net or 305-667-3697.
PLEASE COMPLETE AND RETURN YOUR MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL & PLEDGE CARD

Frequently asked questions
Q. I put money in the collection basket every Sunday, why do I need to fill out a pledge card?
A. Regularly donating to the collection basket is a wonderful thing, and thank you for that, especially for the
monthly community outreach collections coordinated through our Social Justice committee.
The benefit to you for committing your pledge to a card — and then either using a check with "Pledge" in
the memo line or inserting cash into a pledge envelope with your name on it — is that the basket donations
you make are then recorded as being made by you to fulfill your pledge.
The benefit to the congregation is that our annual budget is based upon the dollar amount of committed
pledges. So, the higher and more accurate the dedicated pledge amount, the better the board and
congregation can create a realistic budget and manage expenses for the year.
Q. What is the minimum pledge for a voting member?
A. Our current bylaws have set $240/year ($20/month) as our minimum pledge. However, the current average
pledge is approximately $1,140 ($95/month).
Proposed bylaws revisions, which will be discussed and voted on at our May 22nd annual meeting,
recommend eliminating a minimum pledge, and encouraging all members to be as generous as possible
when committing to the financial well-being of our congregation.
Q. When does the pledge year begin and end?
A. Our new pledge year runs on a fiscal year from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. Please note that you are
not expected to pay your pledge today, you are simply making a commitment for an amount to be paid over
the course of the upcoming fiscal year.
Q. What if I want to increase or decrease my pledge amount after I turn my card in?
A. Simply contact Office Administrator Susie Green and let her know!
Or, what if I cannot financially commit to any pledge at this time?
Our current, and proposed, bylaws have a financial hardship clause. If your circumstances require you to
request one for the coming year, indicate that on your pledge card.
Q. How can I tell how much of my pledge I have already given?
A. Currently, hard copy statements are provided quarterly at end of calendar year for tax purposes. Future
plans call for online member access to your pledge report. You can contact the Board Treasurer or Susie
Green at any time if you have questions about your pledge.

Please complete and return your card to Office Administrator Susie Green by Sunday, May 15th.
Thanks!
