TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
SPARE PARTS AND TOOLS
1. Spare Parts
All spare parts to be supplied shall be interchangeable with the corresponding
parts of all the Works supplied under these Specifications and shall be of the
same material and workmanship. They shall be replaceable without cutting or
destruction of adjacent components. Before issue of the Completion Certificate
the spare parts shall be checked at the Site by the Contractor in presence of the
Engineer/Owner.
Acceptance of any spare parts will not take place before the Contractor has
submitted the complete final detailed list of all spare parts and tools.
All spare parts shall be protected against corrosion and shall be marked with
identification labels in the English Language. The identification shall be in
accordance with the agreed Works Identification System.
All spare parts, tools and materials shall be delivered in marked boxes of
sufficient sturdy construction to withstand long term storage.
1.1. Specified Spare Parts
The required specified spare parts are listed separately in the Particular Technical
Specifications. The price for each listed special spare part shall be quoted
individually in the Price List; the total price shall be included in the Total Tender
Price.
1.2. Recommended Spare Parts
The contractor shall give a list of additional spare parts recommended for five (5)
years operation. The list of these spare parts shall be finalised during detailed
engineering.
The cost of such spare parts shall be deemed to be included in the quoted rates
of the contract.
2. Tools and Appliances
The scope of work shall include all customary and special tools, as well as
auxiliary devices including lifting devices, ropes, etc. necessary for total assembly
and disassembly of all parts of the supplied Works. Furthermore, all accessories
for maintenance shall be supplied and included in the Tender. The total price for
tools and devices as required by this article shall be included in the Total Tender
Price.
The tools, wrenches, etc. shall be unused. Customary tools for erection shall be of
the forged and polished chrome-vanadium type. Use of special tools and devices
for erection shall be allowed, but shall be approved by the Owner in each case.
Special tools and devices shall be provided with means for ready identification.
All lifting devices and wire ropes slings to be used at site shall be tested at works
and test certificate shall be supplied to the Owner.
Suitable hardwood or steel boards arranged for wall mounting as well as tool carts
and/or toolboxes shall be included in the delivery. An itemised list and description
of all provided tools, auxiliary devices, storage equipment, etc. shall be included in
the Tender. Acceptance of any tool or device shall not take place before the
Contractor has submitted the complete final detailed List of Tools and Appliances.
Ropes, slings etc. shall be handed over in new condition. The Owner shall be
entitled to take over from the Contractor the entire erection tools, appliances,
instruments at mutually agreed conditions.
PTS-01 CABLING SYSTEM
Special tools
_ Two (2) sets of hydraulically operated crimping tools,
_ Two (2) sets of control cable crimping tools,
_ Two (2) sets of wire cutters for all sizes of cables,
_ Two (2) sets of wire strippers for all sizes of cables.

PTS-05 GENERATOR
Special tools
• One ( 1) set of nylon Slings , D – shackles , eye bolts for handling
rotor components , stator sections , upper & lower bearing brackets
and assembly , air coolers , brake jacks & other equipment etc.
• One (1) set of special torque wrenches of M-36 and above size
complete with set of drives/boxes mounted on wrench board or in a
tool cabinet.
• One (1) set of hydraulic tensioners for coupling assembly and
dismantling complete with power pack and other arrangements,
special devices, tools, elongation measurement instruments etc.
• One (1) set of special tools for measurement of magnetic axis, air
gap, rotor and stator form etc.
• One (1) set inside micrometer for measurement of stator core dia.
• One (1) set of single ended, Box, tubular, slogging, Socket spanners
for sizes M – 36 & above.
• One (1) set of all precision measuring instruments required for
assembly of generator components e.g. sweep gauge, inside
micrometer, μ level, master level etc.

Testing instruments
_ One (1) set of DC hi-pot (0-75kV) along with grounding switch,
attachments and cables,
_ One (1) set of portable balancing equipment complete with probes,
cables and recording instruments etc for balancing the rotor,
_ One (1) set of portable instrument for measuring partial discharge.

• One (1) no. of multi-channel oscillator.

PTS-07 15 kV BUS BAR (ISOBUS)

Special tools
The Contractor shall propose the list of special tools (if required) including
their make and detailed specification as recommended by
manufacturer(s), to be accepted by the Owner.

PTS-08 GSU TRANSFORMER

Special tools
The proposed list of special tools must include the following in addition to
tools recommended by manufacturer(s):

• Eight (8), 50% of transformer weight (oil filled) hydraulic lifting jacks,
• Two (2), Nylon slings for lifting bushings,
• Nylon Slings for lifting bell of the transformer tank

SWITCHYARD
Special tools

The proposed list of special tools must include the following in addition to
tools recommended by manufacturer(s):
• Two (2) nos. telescopic extension piece type earthing rod suitable for 380 kV tested
for making capacity
• Two (2) nos. Aluminum channel ladders with wheels and platform suitable for two
persons along with tools on first level of Bus Bar
• One (1) set of handling devices and tools for assembling and dismantling each type
of operating mechanism of circuit breakers, and isolators and earthing switches,

Testing Equipment
One (1) no. Micro OHM meter for resistance measurement

PTS-10 DC SYSTEMS

Special tools
The Contractor shall propose the list of special tools including their make
and detailed specification as recommended by manufacturer(s), to be
accepted by the Owner.
The proposed list of special tools must include the following in addition to
tools recommended by manufacturer(s)
• Two (2) nos. of lifting device for battery cells of each type,
• Two (2) cell testing voltmeter,

Special tools
The contractor shall propose the list of special tools including their make
and detailed specification as recommended by manufacturer(s), to be
accepted by the Owner.
The proposed list of special tools shall include the following in addition to
tools recommended by manufacturer(s):
• Two (2) nos. of complete single mode fiber networking and
maintenance tool kits,
• Two (2) sets of crimping tools of each type used for installation of
networks and cabling,
• One (1) set of PC / laptop based protocol conformance test
equipment complete with all accessories, tools and software for
testing each protocol standard used in the control system,
• Two (2) sets of logic analyser tool,
• One (1) set of programmable controller test equipment of each type
for every ten (10) or less installed,
• One (1) set of network performance analysers, network testing and
certification tools,
• One (1) set of optical time domain reflectometer,
• One (1) set of optical fiber certification tools to measure loss, length
and compliance to standards

PTS-12 PROTECTION SYSTEM

Testing instruments

The Contractor shall propose the list of testing instruments including their make and detailed
specification to be accepted by the Owner.

Proposed list shall include following mandatory items:

• Relays / card / module extraction tools.

• One (1) portable microprocessor based, universal relay testing
equipment,
• A laptop with at least 512MB RAM, 80GB hard disk, CD-R/W drive,
necessary software and latest features to facilitate testing, recording
& analysis.
• Two (2) sets of test plug for all types of relays.
• Two (2) sets of extension cards for testing of P.C.B.

Tools and Instruments
The Contractor shall supply all necessary tools and instruments etc. for
installation, repair and maintenance in accordance to clause 1.9 “Tools
and Instruments” of “Section 1 - General Technical Requirements”.

The Contractor shall propose the list of special tools including their make
and detailed specification as recommended by manufacturer(s), to be
accepted by the Owner.

Tools and Instruments
The Contractor shall supply all necessary tools and instruments etc. for
installation, repair and maintenance in accordance to clause 1.9 “Tools
and Instruments” of “Section 1 - General Technical Requirements”.

installation, repair and maintenance in accordance to clause 1.9 “Tools
and Instruments” of “Section 1 - General Technical Requirements”.
Special tools
The Contractor shall propose the list of special tools including their make
and detailed specification as recommended by manufacturer(s), to be
accepted by the Owner.
The proposed list of special tools must include the following in addition to
tools recommended by manufacturer(s)
_ One (1) hand lever or crank for manual closing of the electrically
operated breakers or other means as applicable.
