Dear Parents
Praise goes to all the Year 6 children who have been sitting their SATS tests this week.
They have remained calm and focused and tried their best at all times. We were treated
to a wonderful violin concert this week from the Year 4 children from both St
Christopher’s and from Clanfield Primary. The children have only been learning for a
year and all played with great enthusiasm.

RISK OF MEASLES
Please see the attached letter from the Thames
Valley Health Protection Unit to all parents and
families regarding the risk of measles in school who
have advised that without wishing to undermine the
importance of either measles or the MMR vaccine it
is important, also, to have a sense of the scale of
the issue. In 2010 the provisional total number of
confirmed measles cases in England and Wales was
374. Cases declined towards the end of the year
with only nine cases identified in December. Since
the beginning of 2011, 22 new cases have been
observed. Current information suggests that cases
appear to be mainly associated with recent travel
abroad or small clusters in mainly unvaccinated
individuals.

Absent from School?
If your child is absent from school for any reason,
please don’t forget to let us know. Absences are
recorded in our registers with the appropriate reason
code, i.e illness, holiday, medical appointment etc.
Where no reason is given the absence is recorded as
“unauthorised” and may be investigated by the
Educational Welfare Officer.
Please notify us about the absence by telephoning
school on 01367 860318 and selecting option 1 to
leave a message.

- We are still looking for a host family for our French Trainee Teacher from 7 th to the

24 June 2011 - there is a grant of £300 to cover costs. Last year our lovely student, Morgane
Tisceau, had a huge impact on the teaching and learning of French in the school; we have since formed
a link with Morgane’s school in France. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school so please
