Meret Oppenheim͛s ͞Fur Cup͟. Louise Nevelson͛s assemblies. Marcel Duchamp͛s

͞Fountain͟. These are the three most famous works by these artists. To me, the most
appealing works of art are the ones made by Meret Oppenheim and Marcel Duchamp.

Meret Oppenheim͛s art is mostly inspired by the feminine sex. She usually portrays the
abuse and exploitation of women throughout her pieces. Oppenheim͛s fur cup is an example
of functional art because it is still a cup and still can be used even though it would not be very
practical. Another functional work that this artist made is a stool with bird legs. I didn͛t like
most of her works because most of them were photography of women in really strange poses
but I must admit that there are some that really blew me away, for example, the cup tea
covered with fur, or the pair of shoes tied to what I think is a tray.

Louise Nevelson art did not make me think much. Most of them were just a bunch of
things stacked together without any point. This artwork was interesting to see and would serve
as a good decoration but it was pretty to the eye only. The pieces created by Nevelson were
not something that made me reflect about what was going on. I thought about it as a lot of
forms being arranged to look nicely. Most, if not all, of the sculptures made by this artist are
nonfunctional art.

Now this leaves is with Marcel Duchamp. I really liked the artwork created by him. I am
delighted by the ͞Nude Descending a Staircase, No.2͟. It took a while for me to visualize a
shape in it but when I did, I saw a great piece of art. I even have it as my blackberry wallpaper!
About his sculptures, ͞Fountain͟ is an example of Dada movement. It is something ordinary
that would not be described as art, but it makes you question yourself. ͞How is this art? What
does this mean? Is he trying to make a statement? Why is it placed like that?͟ These are all
questions that I asked myself while looking at this piece. Many of his three-dimensional
artworks are very astute, for example his ͞found͟ pieces which he found and got them a new
purpose. Another piece I liked about this artist is the one which is a bicycle wheel over a stool.

These three artists are very talented ones and had been recognized world-wide. They
have been included in art books (which is a great achievement!), been criticized, been praised,
and been talked about. The artist that appeals the most to me is Marcel Duchamp because of
his amazing works throughout the years and even though he changed his style many times he
was good at every single one of them.
