A Publication Notice
A new fresh rendition of the New Testament is to be published as an online serial under the title of Read I.R.E.N.T., as a work-in-progress, in Adobe PDF file format, accessible freely through the web. It strives for clarity in living everyday English, staying away from the style of the traditional Biblical English in use in most of conventional translations and in church talk. It is a common peoples English but no less dignified, with its content not adulterated with ones own personal opinion and message as seen in several popular modern publications, which have often gone beyond the limit of paraphrase and actually into a rewriting. The title I.R.E.N.T., chosen for the translation text work itself, is an acronym for Invitation to Reading in English New Testament.

The first issue of I.R.E.N.T. Vol. 4 Non-Pauline Letters is Johns three Epistles, comes in three files the basic Readers Edition without the Endnotes, the Study Ready Edition Text, and Study Ready Edition Endnotes and Appendix.

How to read the pages of I.R.E.N.T.

The translated text to read is in a single column in the middle along with a small amount of the footnote. For the convenience for the eyes to easily spot them, the words of Christ/God are put in brick-red. The chapterverse numbers are segregated on the left margin. More details on the typographic devices are provided for reading the Study Ready Edition.

Briefly,

when you read through the text,

You should include those text material in italics (black, gray, green, or brick-red), but you are going to simply ignore all the superscripts and all the subheadings. You may skip, especially in reading aloud, all those texts in [+ text in gray italic font], or in [+ text in purple italic font] enclosed within square brackets. Subscript | is a marker where a short pause may be of help for oral reading.

About some typography:

Phrase breaks: The readers modulate reading with help of devices for phrase breaks: various punctuation marks and other typographic devices serve as such an indicator may find useful for the lector as a clue for breath pause or speech modulation. E.g. (an EM dash), | (in subscript), or an ellipsis (). Text material in italics is NOT for emphasis but just to follow the old convention from the (pre-) KJV era. Here in I.R.E.N.T. it is put in smaller gray font [e.g. this is an actual example of it, in contrast to the rest the text] to avoid usual association with emphasis. It is used to indicate that the words do not have exact corresponding ones in the Greek text. Second person plural pronouns are indicated as yo, yor, yors, yore, (but not for yourselves) Colored-dotted underlined word indicates transliterated special words, e.g. Elohim, Logos, soferim, shalom, etc. Initial caps are used when the third person singular pronoun refers to God/Yeshua, (He, His, Him). It is only to help the readers as such. It has nothing to do with sense of divinity. Capitalized initial is also used for words of proper nouns and titles as well as the particularized words (e.g. City for Jerusalem, Temple for the Jerusalem Temple, etc.). Them+, their+, they+; ---- singular they for the 3rd person neutral singular pronouns when referring to such expression as everyone whoever. [e.g. Jn 6: 39, 40] Superscript numerals or alphabets in bold red or blue for the footnotes (a b c) with each page starting new numbering. Superscript h in italic means the word is a pronoun in the Greek. Superscript indicates the word is an entry in the glossary. Superscript + to a prepositional word and phrase = indicates a genitive case. E.g. Jn 5:29 resurrection to+ Life > resurrection of life. Words shaded or words boxed are thematic words. See the separate file uploaded, Introduction, for More on Typographic Devices and Notations in Footnotes.

Translators forward

Translators forward to the First Epistle of John:

This is a part of Johannine Trilogy, which includes the Gospel and three Epistles, with the Apocalypse as well. Someone suggested that if one cannot read through the entire Bible, one should try to read the whole of New Testament. If not, the Gospel of John. If thats still too big, this Johns epistle comes to help. It is not like a drama where there is a plot with many sub-plots carrying different themes. This Epistle, however, has one theme running throughout, that is, the believers participation (fellowship) with God in the eternal Life. Eternal Life is a major theme in the Johns Gospel as well. It is not about our biological life. It is not even everlasting. It is not even life after death. It is Life belonging to the realm of eternity, that is, God. It is Life in God, a divine Life God gives us as His gift. It is Life in the Son of God for He is the One who brought us this Life, the grace of God Himself. Those privileged to become the children God have this Life, Life to live in Him, yes, here and now. It is a foretaste and a seal of the Life to come, the resurrection Life. If one can, one will have a great benefit from reading through a book from the beginning to the end for other books in the New Testament as well. Not too long, this Epistle is something one can read through in one single setting, without a chance of getting lost of the train in what John was writing to a Messianic community, where some advocating a different and adulterated gospel have separated themselves out. It was a Gnostic gospel, which denies the incarnated Logos, which is at the very core of the faith in Yeshua. Yes, sadly there are many such deceiving gospels constantly bombarding and infecting us prosperity gospels, legalistic-ritualistic gospels, spiritual gospels, deistic gospels, mystical gospels, and synthetic gospels all with some magic formulas in their hip pocket. Translators Note

Translators Note:

It is possible that his First Letter may have written by expanding on the same theme found in the Second. His Second Letter does no more than reiterate the advice and the warnings of the First one (from Barclay in Introduction in his translation of N.T. p. 526 1999 ed.) As to his Third letter, it is not thematically related to the First and Second.

About (singular) anarthrous words used in connotative adjectival sense:

The word God, though no definite article is used with it in English, has (definite) article in the Greek text throughout the Letters. It is rendered here as God the very God. A few notable exceptions are: in genitive case (1Jn 3:1,2 Gods dear-children; 2Jn 3 from God Father); in accusative (1Jn 4:12; 2Jn 9 what God is). The last examples are note-worthy in that anarthrous noun, which usually translated with a (or an), indefinite artice, is sometimes used as connotative and adjectival sense. Similar examples as Jn 1:1c (what God was, the Word was in NEB translation), Jn 1:18; Jn 4:24 (what spirit is), 1Jn 4:8 (what love is).

Basic Words of the Scripture

Love The word Love (AGAPH) is one the major themes of Johannine writings. Love is not Gods essence. (It may be said God is where the essence of love is.) It is not an abstract noun of noble virtue, but a verbal noun - action in power of spirit as He relates and radiates for creation, care, and consummation.] [In G-Jn the word love appears mostly as a verb for the first time in Jn 3:16. (God loves, and His love was shown through the Life of His Son.) Less frequently appears as a noun (as love for God in 5:48 and as Yeshuas love in 15:9, 10, 13; Gods love of His Son in 17:26)] [Cf. A modern heresy telling that love is the essence of God, the phrase reading as Love is God.][Cf. Sin is to refuse Gods love; no response to; and to be blind to it 1Jn 3:4]

A. FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD. GOD IS LIGHT

God is Light
1:5

And this is the message which we have heard from Him and are proclaiming to yo: that the very Elohim a is Light b and no darkness is in Him at all. [cf. Jn 1:5]

[sin exposed]

Three antithetic tests of Life [claim-condemnation-cure] 1:6 If we say that we are in fellowship with Him and yet in the darkness we walk [in our life]
1:7

[=power of sin]

were speaking falsely and not living out the truth: but if we are walking in the light as He Himself is in the light, were having a fellowship c in Life [v. 3] among us each other [=horizontal fellowship] and the blood of Yeshua {the Messiah} His Son keeps cleansing us [before God] away from every sin.
If we say that we have no [indwelling] sin [nature],
[=presence of sin nature]

1:8

1:9

we are deceiving ourselves; yea, the truth being not in us: [cf. 3:9] but when [living in fellowship with Him] we [come to God and] confess our sins, there, faithful is God and righteous He is, forgiving us the sins [as we confess] and purifying us from everything unrighteous.
If we say that we have lived but not sinned,
[perfect tense; =practice of sin]

1:10

we are making Him turn out to be a deceiver and this would simply mean that no room for his Word is to be found in the hearts of us.
2:1

((My dear-children d, these things I am writing to yo in order to keep you stay away from sin. [cf. Jn 5:14])) And if when any [of yo] should sin, [falling short of what God wants,] [remember that] we have as one to stand by our side e face to face toward the Father [1:2: Jn 1:1b] the very person of Yeshua the Messiah, righteous One.
Dear ones, I should call you dear-children!

1Jn 1:5ff Elohim /God; [IRENT renders the Greek the God as Elohim.] 1Jn 1:5 the Elohim is Light /> God is light most; / c 1Jn 1:7 fellowship [= participating life WITH God] d 1Jn 2:1ff dear-children [Gk. teknia with nuance of endearment] e 1Jn 2:1 one to stand by (Gk. parakltos) [Here, referring to Yeshua Himself. Cf. Jn 14:16 another to stand by, to be sent from Yeshua to the believers = gift of holy Spirit] [See holy Spirit in BW.]
a b

2:2

Yes, He, in His own person, is as atonement a[4:10] for our sins [to be taken away], not for our sins only, but also for the sins of the whole world.[= v. 17; cf. 2Pe 2:1]

(1John 2)
New commandment renewed one

Test of Obedience
2:3

And this is how we are sure that we have come to know God truly: in keeping ^Gods commandments b. [cf. Gal 6:2] ((When anyone may say <I have come to know Him> while yet not keeping His commandments, they+ are not only deceivers, but, self-deluded, nothing true is in them. On the other hand, whosoever obeys the very word from Him, truly in them+ their love of Elohim has been brought to the goal.)) Such is how we are always sure that we are [abiding] in Him.

2:4

2:5

2:6

Anyone who claims to be abiding in God, they with such a claim ought also to live their+ life in the same manner as the Messiah himself lived His very life.[Jn 8:29]

Test of love 2:7 My dearly-loved ones! it is not a new different commandment

2:8

that Im writing to yo; no, its an old commandment the Word to be followed which yo have had from beginning [of the Gospel]; [1Jn 3:11; Jn 1:9] that old commandment c is the very word which had reached yor ears before [+ given at Mt Sinai] yet, on the other hand, it is as a new commandment d [Jn 13:34; 1Jn 3:23a] renewed one, having fulfilled in Himself that I am writing to yo; all that has its truth confirmed in [the life of] the Messiah as well as yors.
And what is significant is this: that the darkness [engulfing us] is being lifted

1Jn 2:2 atonement = 4:10; /expiation; /propitiation - KJV; [See Appendix: 1Jn 2:2 atonement propitiation mercy seat (Heb. kphrth)] b 1Jn 2:3ff commandments [Not orders, commands, but the Words that God has given from His desire for us to follow and live out. In G-Jn it is rendered as phrased out Jn 13:34 etc.] c 1Jn 2:7 old commandment ~ [as in Ten Commandments Deu 6:5; 11:13 and Lev 19:18.] d 1Jn 2:8 new commandment [new renewed, not a replacement, nor a different one. Its to be loving others as He Himself has loved us. Cf. Love your neigbors as your own self is loved by God]
a

and the true light [from Him] is already shining.[Jn 1:4-5]

2:9

Those+ claiming to be in the light but hating their fellow brother are [actually] still in the darkness: Those who love their fellow brothers abide in the light and there is no cause for stumbling in them. But those who hates their fellow brothers are in the darkness and are walking in the darkness and do not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded their eyes.

2:10

2:11

Encouragements
2:12

I am writing to yo, my dear-children, that yo have had yor sins forgiven for His names sake: I am writing to yo, parents, that yo have come to know the One from the beginning.[1:1] I am writing to yo, young people, that because yo have overcome [the power of] the Evil one. [4:4; 5:4; Mt 6:13b] I have been writing to yo, children, that yo have come to know the Father. I have been writing to yo, parents, that yo have come to know the One from the beginning. I have been writing to yo, young people, that yo are strong and the word of Elohim abides in yo and yo have overcome [the power of] the Evil one. Stop loving the world [which stands against God] yes, all that belonging to the world. If anyone loves the world, [cf. Mt 6:24] the love of the Father is not in them+; because whatever is rooted in the world whether it is the desire from the human nature [+ in quest of power], or the desire in the eyes [+ in quest of pleasure], or the boastful pride in ones means of living is not from the Father, but is from this present [godless] world itself. Yes, the world [itself] is passing away and so is its desire: but the one who does the will of Elohim remains into the age.
Dear-children, what a last hour in character it is!

Warnings against the world

2:15

2:16

2:17

Warnings against anti-Messiahs (anti-Christs)

2:18

Yes, as yo have been told that {the} anti-Messiah a would come,[ 4:3] so even now many anti-Messiahs have [actually] come [cf. Mt 24:24; Mk 13:22]
a 1Jn 2:18 anti-Messiah - JNT; /antichrist - most; /anti-Christ; [Cf. false Messiah - Mt 24:24; //Mk 13:22] [Greek ANTI- in the sense of in place of or in stead of; as well as anti or against as for power.]

2:19

indeed, from this [fact] we know that its a last hour. True enough, it was from among our fellowship that these [anti-Messiahs] have broken off, Yet, for all that, they had not really belonged to us; Had they belonged to us, yo see, they would have remained with us: on the contrary, as they went the way they did they showed clearly that none of them was meant to belong to us.

2:20

2:21

As for yo all, yo, however, have received an anointing [with holy spirit] from the Holy One [v. 27] thus yo {all} have come to know[Jer 31:34] {/ everything} [of the truth]. Indeed, why do I write to yo? Because yo dont know the truth? No, because yo do know the truth. Yes, yo well know that not a single lie a comes from the truth. Who, then, is here the one making lies par excellence
[claiming himself to be a Messiah] [v.18]

2:22

2:23

but the one who denies that Yeshua is Gods anointed One, the very Messiah? Such a person is the anti-Messiah! the one who [in fact] denies the Father and the Son. Everyone who denies the Son,
[being the Messiah and who He is,] [necessarily denies the Father too] no, they do not with them have the Father either [to abide in fellowship]. { Anyone who acknowledges and openly confesses the Son, they have the Father also.}

Abide in the Son and in the Father 2:24 As for yourselves, let this abide in yo

2:25

that which yo have heard from the beginning. If that which yo have heard from the beginning abides in you, indeed yo shall abide in the Son, also in the Father Yes, that is the very promised thing which the Father Himself promised us: the eternal Life. I am writing to yo these things about those who are deceiving yo [with false teachings]. And as for yo, the anointing [with Holy Spirit] [v. 22] which yo received from the Father abides in yo thus, yo do not need any other to be teaching yo. On the contrary, just as the very anointing from Him is teaching yo in everything, [cf. Jn 16:13]

2:26

2:27

1Jn 2:21 lie [= that which denies the truth.]

and as what it teaches is true and is not mixed with falsehood; so yo are to abide in Him. just as yove been taught by it.
2:28

((And now, dear-children, be abiding in the Son; that, whenever a he is revealed, we may have boldness not to hide away in shame from Him during His presence upon coming.)) If yo know that it is the Son who is the righteous One, yo will know also that all those who live out the righteousness of His [in their life] [3:7] have [truly] been fathered from God Himself.

2:29

(1John 3) B. FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD. GOD IS LOVE

Gods children
3:1

Look, what [great] love the Father has given us;

so great indeed it was that we even should be called Gods dear-children! [Jn 1:12] And that in fact is what we really are now! Morevoer, if the world does not know who we {/yo} are, the reason is that it has not come to know the Father either.
3:2a

My dearly-loved ones! [already here and] now we are Gods dear-children, Still, what we shall be hereafter

3:3

has not yet been disclosed. But one thing we do know [as a fact] that when the time comes for the Messiah to reveal himself, we shall [as Gods dear-children] be found to be like Him; for we shall [come to] see [and know] Him just as He really is. And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies themselves+, just as the Messiah Himself is pure.
My dearly-loved ones! [already here and] now we are Gods dear-children, Still, what we shall be hereafter

3:2a

3:3

has not yet been disclosed.

1Jn 2:28 when-ever {/mss} {/if, when}

3:4a b

3:5

3:6

All those who live out the [way of] sin are, in fact, being away from Gods law; [cf. Jn 8:34] indeed, the sin is [none other than] the very being away from Gods law a [Jam 2:8][cf. Gal 5:14] [+ that is, standing contrary to Gods will]! [cf.5:17a][cf. Rm 5:12] Moreover, yo know that, when the very Messiah did reveal himself it was to take away {our} sins [bearing on himself]; and yo know likewise that no sin whatever is found in Him. [1Pe 2:22] No one who abides in him would ever keep on sinning; Anyone who keeps on sinning, on the other hand, is, in fact, the very one who has never seen him, or has never come to know him any way.
{

3:7

Dear-}children, b

dont get yourselves misled by any one;

[you should know this that] those+ who live out the righteousness [which is from Him], [2:29] they are [truly] righteous just as the Messiah himself is righteous: those+ who live out the sin, they belong to the Devil; [Jn 8:44] because from beginning [+ of evil into the world] [Gen 3:1ff]

3:8

the Devil has been sinning. To this purpose the Son of Elohim was revealed: that he shall destroy the doings of the Devil.
3:9

All those who have been as fathered from Elohim, [Jn 1:13] do not live out sin,[cf. 3:4] because divine seed [of Gods image] abides in them; yes, they are cant be [enslaved in] sinning, because they have been as fathered from Elohim.

3:10

This is how those who are dear-children of Elohim and those who are dear-children of the Devil are clearly distinguished: that everyone who does not live out righteousness is not from Elohim yea, they are the very ones who do not love their brethren.
It is that the very message which yo have been taught from the beginning [of the Gospel proclaimed] is this:

Test of love
3:11

It was from what he saw that: how he had done was [from] his evilness

when what his brother did was from his righteousness.

3:13 3:14

Do not be surprised, my fellow brethren, if the world comes to hate yo.

We, for our part [as set over against the world], do know

that weve crossed over from death into the [eternal] Life we know it from the fact that we do love our fellow brethren. Thus, not to love ones brethren is to remain in the [realm of] death.
3:15

To nurse hate for ones fellow brethren+ is to snuff out others life; and yo may be certain that no one who snuffs out others life can have eternal Life abiding in them+. From this fact we have come to know such love [in truth]: that this Messiah laid down His very soul on our behalf; we too, then, ought to lay down our souls on behalf of our brethren. But as for those who have enough to live on and, yet, on encountering fellow brethren who are in need, shuts up their heart of compassion, how is it possible for the love of Elohim to abide in them? [cf. Jam 2:16] {My} dear-children, do not let our love be in words or in lip service; No! It should be in genuine actions. {And} in that way when we have such love we {shall} know that we belong to the truth, and in Gods presence we shall set our [conscience of the] hearts at rest; [realizing] that [we can] even if the heart accuses us, because Elohim can see further than our heart and that nothing [about us] is unknown to Him. My dearly-loved ones if heart {of ours}does not bring any accusation on ourselves, we have courage [to come] to [the presence of] Elohim, [4:17] And whatever [in need] we may ask for, we receive from the very God, [cf. 5:14; Jn 15:7, 16] seeing that we are keeping the ^Gods commandments and doing nothing but what is pleasing in His sight.

[Jn 13:34; 15:12, 17] And whoever keeps the ^Gods commandments abides in Him and He in them+. Spirits of man must be tested
4:1

My dearly-loved ones

Do not trust every [+ religious and doctrinal] spirit of man [+] b. No, yo should put such spirits of man to test to find out whether [truly] they belong to Elohim c; [cf. Deu 18:20] this is [necessary when yo realize] that many false prophets have come out into the world.
4:2

4:3

Here is how yore going to [objectively prove it and then] recognize the spirit of Elohim [with them] [and expose false prophets]: [cf. Mt 24:24] Every spirit of man that acknowledges Yeshua as Messiah having come in the real flesh-and-blood,[=2Jn 7; Jn 1:14; cf. 1Jn 2:18, 22; 5:1] + they are the ones from Elohim; and every such spirit of man that does not acknowledge the very Yeshua as to who He is, {the Messiah who came in the flesh} d, + they are the ones not from Elohim in fact, this is the spirit of the anti-Messiah e[2:18], which yo have heard it is coming, yes, now it is indeed in the world here already. Now as for you, my dear-children yo belong to Elohim, and have overcome over these false prophets: that is because greater is the very Power [at work] in the midst of yo-all than that possessed by the one [wielding] in the world.[cf. 2Tm 4:18; Mt 6:13b //2Th 3:3

Let us be loving one another [with self-giving love], seeing that such love is from Elohim as its source, and that everyone who thus loves has been as fathered from Elohim and comes to know Elohim in an experiential way. The one who do not love, do not come to know Elohim; because the very Elohim is love. a [4:16b] Here is how the love of Elohim was revealed toward us: that Elohim has sent the one-and-only Son of Him into the world so that we shall live through the Son. In this way is such love [realized]: not that it is we who loved Elohim, but that it is Elohim on His part who loved us and sent His Son [=Jn 3:16] as atonement b for our sins [to be taken away]. [2:2] My dearly-loved ones, since Elohim so loved us, we on our part also ought to love one another. What God is, no one has seen at any time; [Jn 1:18] if we, however, live on loving one another, such Elohim does abide in us and His love is getting perfected in us. When we come to know for certain that we abide#0 in the Elohimand the Elohim in us, this is how [we know] by [the presence of] a measure of the spirit of His own which God has imparted to us.[3:24] And we have viewed and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world[2:2]. Whoever confesses that Yeshua {the Messiah} is the Son of Elohim, Elohim abides in them+ and they too in Elohim. And we ourselves have come to know and have believed the love which Elohim has for us.

God is love Abide in love; Love against fear

4:16b

The very Elohim is love! [4:8] And those+ who abide in this love abide in Elohim and Elohim abides in them+. By this [abiding in Him] has such love of God been brought to perfection with us: so that we may have confidence on the day of the crisis a [Cf. Jn 3:19] Thats because, just as the very Messiah is [having His love to perfection], also are we ourselves [who are] in this world [having His perfect love with us]. As to fear b it does not find any place in this self-giving love no, such Gods perfect love drives out [all] the fear [there is]! [Rm 8:35-7] It must be so as the fear itself carries a punishment of its own [to bring upon]; indeed, anyone who gives way to fear has not yet been brought to the goal in such love.
Yes, when we ourselves [are found to be those who come to] love {Him} its because God Himself first [on His own free initiative] loved us. c

Indeed, anyone who are not loving their+ fellow brethren whom they have seen, how is it possible for them to love the very Elohim, whom they have not seen? And there is this commandment the Word to be followed we have from God Himself: that the one who loves Elohim should also be loving ones fellow brother.

Thus, it is when we love Elohim and keep His Words from His desire, we know that weve come to love all the dear-children of Elohim in true sense [because God loves us and thus enables us to love]: Indeed, when we do have such love for Elohim, that brings us into keeping His Words; [Jn 14:15; 15:10] moreover, His Words to follow do not come heavy and burdensome on us at all and that is because everyone fathered from Elohim comes off victorious over the world. [2:13; 4:4] And this is [what brings] the victory that has come off victorious over the world yor{/mss} b faith! It is He, Yeshua {the} Messiah, whose coming was borne witnessed to through water and blood yes, not with the water [of His immersion] only, but with the water and with the blood [of His Cross]. {And it is the Spirit that bears witness [to Him], because the Spirit is the truth.} And so it is that there are three witness-bearers { . } c the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three witnesses are

5:9

If we do receive the witness given by hmen, the testimony given by Elohim is greater: Because the testimony by Elohim is this: [it is] that Elohim has given witness concerning His Son.
Those+ coming and believing in this Son of Elohim have thus Gods testimony about His Son in their own life, Those+ not believing Elohim [to accept the testimony from Him] have made Him out to be a deceiver; because they+ have not believed in the witness given

5:10

which Elohim has testified about His Son.

5:11

5:12

And the testimony is this that Elohim has bestowed upon us eternal Life and that this Life is [to be found] in His Son. Those+ who have the Son [to belong to and dwell in them], have this Life [in their possession]; those+ who have not the Son of Elohim, it is this Life that they do not have at all.

EPILOGUE:

I. Eternal life and Confidence in Him to Ask over sinning brothers 5:13 These things I have thus written to yo {yo, those believing in the name of the Son of Elohim and what the name stands for} in order that yo may know the fact that yo have Life, yes, eternal Life [cf. Jn 20:31] [writing to yo] to those believing{/mss} a in the name of the Son of Elohim. 5:14 Thus, this is the confidence which we have in Him: That when we ask for anything [+ to effect eternal life] [5:11-13; 5:16] in harmony with what He desires, He hears us [our request]. 5:15 And if we know that He so hears us whatever we ask for, we know that we are going to have what weve asked of Him! 5:16 Should anyone see their+ fellow brother sinning a sin not a sin that should incur death, they should ask the God to secure Life in God to this brother,[Gal 6:2; Jam 5:16] yes, Life to all those sinning a sin that should not incur death. 5:16b True, there is such a thing as a [willful and deliberate] sin that should incur death [cf. Mt 12:31 blasphemy against the Spirit] it is not that sort of sin I have in mind when I say that a request be made [to God on behalf of their sinning brother]. 5:17 Every [act of] unrighteousness is sin, of course; [cf. 3:4]

And we know that the Son of Elohim has come and has given us a clear understanding, so that we {may} come to deeply know the One who is true [=the only true God] And also we may be in this One who is true [this by virtue of the fact that we are] in His Son Yeshua the Messiah.

From: The elder:

To: the chosen lady and her dear-children, whom I love in truth, and not I only, but also all those who know the truth; because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us into the age: Grace, mercy, shalom be with us, from God the Father and from {Lord} Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

6@

I rejoice exceedingly that I have found some of your dear-children walking in truth, just as Father has commaned us. And now I ask you lady, not as if I am writing you a new commandment, but the one we had from the beginning that we [should] be loving one another. And this is what-such-love means: that we are walking after the very commandments from the Father; this is the commandment yo should be walking in as yo have heard from the beginning. Many deceivers have entered into the world; [yo see even] those who are not confessing Yeshua as the Messiah having come in the flesh [of humanity]. [1Jn 2:22; Heb 5:7] Such one is the deceiver, indeed the one who is an anti-Messiah! [Thus] look to yourselves so that yo may not lose what we have labored for among yo, but that yo may receive a full reward. Everyone, who transgresses and does not abide in the teaching of the very Messiah, does not have what God is [to be with them]: the one who abides in the teaching of the very Messiah, this one has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to yo and does not bring this teaching, do not receive them+ into yor home and do not say to them+ shalom: In fact, the one who says shalom to them+ is in partnership in their+ evil deeds. Having so much to say to yo, I did not want to write them with paper and ink: but I am hoping instead to come and see yo and to speak face to face, so that our joy may be filled to full measure. The dear-children of your chosen fellow sister greet yo. {Amen.}

From: The elder

To: Gaius the dearly-loved, whom I love in very truth:

2

My dearly-loved one! I pray that all may go well with you and you be healthy, just-as [I know] it is well with your soul.

I rejoiced exceedingly indeed when the fellow brethren came and testified about your truthfulness, that you are conducting yourselves in truth. I have no greater joy than hearing that my dear-children are conducting themselves in the truth.

My dearly-loved one, you are doing faithfully in whatever you do for the fellow brethren, who are strangers to you;

they testified to your love before the congregation: you will do well to send them on their way in manner worthy to Elohim a: indeed, it was for the worthy cause of the precious Name that they have gone forth, accepting nothing from the pagans. It is for us, then, to lend our assistance to people such as these, so that we may become fellow-workers to stand on the truth. There is a message Ive sent to the congregation: however, the one who craves to play a leading role, this Diotrephes refuses to acknowledge our authority. and this being so, this is what Im going to do when I come, I shall call attention to what he is doing he speaks evil of us, and not being content with these, he even refuses to welcome the fellow brethren of ours and over and above this he puts obstacles in the way of those who wish to receive the fellow brethren, and drives them out of the congregation.
My dearly-loved one, let what is good, not what is evil,

10

11

12

serve you as your example. The one who lives out what is good is from Elohim: he who dose evil has not seen Elohim. Demetrius is spoken well of by all, even by the truth itself. yes, we also bear testimony on his behalf; and yo know that our witness is true. There is so much to write to you, but its not my desire to resort to just ink and pen to write off to you, but instead Im hoping to visit you in the near future# and then it will be possible for us to speak face to face. Shalom be with yo. The friends greet yo. Greet the friends individually.
