Key Components

OPC
• The OEM OPC is a departure from previous HP drums.
Appears to be of lower quality than previous HP drums.
• The OEM profile (uniformity of application) of the coating is uneven.
• FG’s OPC may be used for 2 cycles.

Toner
• OEM product is magnetic polymerized (chemical). This is a completely new type of toner.

Testing Methodology Recommendations

• Running “E” pattern causes memory fatigue in OEM drum. This is not an MK Imaging
toner or drum problem. This problem will occur on continuous or stop-start.
Components: Suggested Replacements

Doctor Blade
• Recommend to change everytime for improved density (OEM and FG).
• Doctor blade sealing foam available.

Seal
• Lay-in seal. Developed as part of FG matched system.

Recovery Blade
• Replace as needed. (See Critical Component Analysis, page 6, for recommendation)

Wiper Blade
• OEM good for two cycles. FG blade In development.

Drill Hole Fixture

• Makes remanufacturing easy and reduces the risk of damage to auger.
• Two separate jig holes; one for 1006 and one for 1505.
• Fill plug included with kit or sold separately.

Chip

Chip Messages

Messages generated in HP1505 printer

New aftermarket chip on cartridge: Printer will go to ready status.

A message will pop up on the PC monitor after running a few pages
that says Genuine HP Cartridge Installed. When the cartridge is
low on toner a warning message of ‘toner low’ will pop up on the
PC monitor.

Used OEM chip on cartridge: Printer will go to ready status with the
toner low warning light on and a message will pop on the PC monitor
that says Used Cartridge Installed Any printer repair required as result of using non-HP sup-
plies is not covered under warranty. This message will pop on the PC monitor randomly when
data is sent to the printer. Note: Printer will print normally, but there will be no ‘toner low’
warning when the cartridge is low on toner.

Using a cartridge without chip: Printer will go to ready status and a message will pop up on
the PC monitor that says CARTRIDGE MEMORY ERROR ON BLACK Unable to read cartridge
data. Re-install the cartridge. This message will pop up on the PC monitor randomly when data
is sent to the printer. Note: Printer will print normally, but there will be no ‘toner low’ warning
when the cartridge is low on toner.

Engines have PC software that indicates if the cartridge is new or used.

Do not post test chip with chip installed.
