as the CVK. Alternatively, a new C2K can either be generated by
Visa or by the member.

Certificate Expiry Date – the last date that the requested

certificate will be valid. This must coincide with the Certificate

S1
SRE (Settlement Reporting Entity) – this represents any business entity for which Visa performs
settlement, provides settlement reporting, or both. Settlement reporting is available for every SRE. An SRE is
identified by a unique then digit number (for example, 1000010205) that is assigned by Visa.

An SRE can represent a processing center, member, or any segment of a member’s business. The following SRE
types are used to construct a VSS hierarchy:

Lowest level SRE – the lowest level at which VSS produces settlement reports. A lowest-level SRE
can be associated with a BASE II BIN, an account range or, for SMS, with a BIN plus a network.
Summary level SRE – a consolidation of lower-level SREs directly linked to a summary-level SRE
through the settlement hierarchy.
Top SRE – mandatory for each hierarchy and includes a set of parameters that applies to the entire
hierarchy such as the settlement currency information.
Funds transfer SRE – where funds transfers (movement of funds) take place.

VSDC Production Work Order form – Visa Smart Debit Credit cards require an IPK to be signed by the Visa
Certificate Authority (CA). For signing the IPK, the CA requires the actual certificate and the respective work
order form containing all the relevant details of the specific IPK to be signed.

VAM (Visa Online Access Manager) – the person in an organisation who has the rights to set up new users,
amend their user profiles or delete them for Visa Online.

VAP (VisaNet Access Point) – a computer system that allows a centre to connect to VisaNet. The member
host communicates with the VAP, which is linked to a VIC through the Visa telecommunications network. The
VAP facilitates the transmission of messages and files between the member host and the VIC, supporting the
authorisation, clearing, and settlement of Visa and other card transactions.

VbV (Verified by Visa) – a secure cardholder/merchant authentication for internet transactions by using the
3-D Secure service.

VisaOnline (sometimes abbreviated to VOL) – Visa’s secure

extranet site with essential tools, resources and updates for
members and business partners. This site can be accessed with a
user ID and password through https://www.eu.visaonline.com.

Visa Online administration team – a dedicated team dealing with set up, deletion and amendments of user
IDs and passwords. The team is contactable at voleu@visa.com

VPA (VSDC Personalisation Assistant) – a user-friendly, Graphic User Interface-based tool available to
issuers via Visa Online. The tool walks issuers through each personalisation decision and provides best practice
personalisation settings each step of the way. It also alerts them when a setting they have chosen conflicts with
Visa’s best practice or has the potential to cause an interoperability problem.
To submit the personalisation template for chip applications through Visa Online, go to Main Menu –
Implementation – VSDC Personalisation Assistant.

VSDC (Visa Smart Debit/Smart Credit Service) – this provides members with a safe and controlled means
to incorporate debit and credit functionality into chip cards. VSDC takes full advantage of the power of the chip
on a single card. VSDC supports Visa, Visa Electron, and PLUS card products.

Z1
ZCMK (Zone Control Master Key) – a master key used to encrypt working keys conveyed between
nodes on a network. Visa generates and conveys ZCMKs to all members and processors connected to
VisaNet. It is used to securely transport working keys between Visa and members /processors.
