He also met his future wife that year, Cathy Cote from New Hampshire, while they were
both on spring break. They married on July 22, 1989 and moved to Sacramento,

   &&Sparks has said that she is the inspiration for the
main character in his novel A Walk to Remember. His books are mainly on the theme of
Christian faith, faith, love, tragedy and fate. He is a catholic and he and his wife a
devout Catholics and raise there children in catholic faith. His father was pursuing
graduate studies, and the family moved a great deal, so by the time Sparks was 8, he
had lived in Watertown, Minnesota, Los Angeles, and Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1974
his family settled in Fair Oaks, California, and remained there through Nicholas's high
school days. He graduated in 1984 as valedictorian from Bella Vista High School, then
enrolling at the University of Notre Dame, having received a full track and
field scholarship. In his freshman year, his team set a record for the 4 x 800 relay.
Sparks majored in business finance and graduated with honors in 1988.

While he was still in school 1985, Sparks had completed his first novel which was never
published named The Passing he wrote another novel which was also unpublished in
1989 named The Royal Murderers. After collage he tried applying to work with
publishers or to attend law school, when rejected from both the opportunities the next
three years he spent applying for other jobs like real state appraisal, waiting tables,
selling dental products by phone and starting his own manufacturing business.

In 1990 he wrote alongside Billy Mills Wokini: A Lakota Journey to Happiness and Self-
Understanding. The book was published by Feather Publishing and Hay House. Sales
for this book approximated 50,000 copies in the first year after being published. In 1992,
Sparks began selling pharmaceuticals and in 1993 was transferred to Greenville, SC.
There he wrote his third novel The Notebook. Two years later, he was discovered by
literary agent Theresa Park, who picked _

 out of her agency's slush pile,
liked it, and offered to represent him. In October 1995, Park secured a $1 million
advance for _

 from Time Warner Book Group. The novel was published in

The reason why I like Nicholas Sparks, is because I love reading his novels so far I
have read The Message in the Bottle, The Wedding, The Choice, and A Walk to
Remember and I truly loved the way he writes and expresses his emotions in his books
and the way he describes every scene and feeling, in a way that the reader reading can
picture the beauty of the scene if they close their eyes, like someone said: ³A great
writer is one who can conjure up the image and the feelings in the readers.´ Nicholas
Sparks can inspire anyone to be a writer. He is one of the best sellers of America and
he has had great success with his novels. His best novel so far according to the publics
vote is The Notebook, then comes the second best The Last Song then the third A Walk
to remember and so on. He is one of the number 1 sellers in The New York Times. He
is also known to make one romance novel every year and all of them are immediately
started to become movies. He¶s known as one of the best romantic writers and people
all over the world agree. He is now compared to JK Rowling and he has entered the top
ten lists of the best books for women to read entering on number one with µSafe Haven¶
and then at four with µThe Last Song¶ and then at eight with µDear John¶.
