How to use the tool ''Canon PIXMA Wireless Setup Assistant''

This tool enables you to confirm the network key and access point name. These two items are required when using
the machine in a wireless connection.
After finish using the tool, put the file in the Recycle Bin / trash and delete it.

<System requirement>
Windows XP SP3 or later / XP x64 Edition SP3 or later / Vista (32bit version) /Vista (64bit version)/ 7 (32bit version)/
7 (32bit version)

<When to use tool>


- When the access point information cannot be detected in the network environment where your computer is
connected to.

<<Procedures>>
Depending on the product you are using, go toeither of the following steps:
When you are using the product you use the printer unit to enter the network key, go to the step 1
When you are using the product you use the PC windows to enter the network key, go the step 7
[[In case of entering the network key using the printer unit]]
1. Display the window for selecting access point using the printer unit.
Please refer tothe Getting Started Guide if you are unable to display the below window on the LCD screen.

2. Execute the downloaded tool "Canon PIXMA Wireless Setup Assistant" (CNMNPHLP) on the computer.

3. Read theLicense Agreement, then click Yes when you accept the agreement.

4. The tool "Canon PIXMA Wireless Setup Assistant" is launched. Confirm that the same access point names
are listed in the following window as the ones in the Access Points window displayed on the printer unit in the
step 1. Then, write down the Network Key of the access point.
Note: The Network Key may be displayed with texts of the alphabets from A to F (base 16 number). Write
down it as-is.

The access point name is the same.

5. In the window for selecting access point of the printer unit, select the access point specified in the step 4, then
click OK. When the window for entering the network key is displayed, enter the one written down in the step 4,
then click OK.

6. When the setup is completed, the Setup Complete dialog is displayed.

If the error message belowis displayed, the entered network key may not match with the access point you specified;
click OK in the following window to open the window for entering the network key again. Then repeat steps 5 and
after.

Proceed with the remainder of the setup as described in the Getting Started
Guide .

7. Open the Access Points window.
<<When the Access Points window is closed>>
(1) Insert the CD-ROM prepackaged with the machine into the computer to launch the Master Setup window.
(2) Select Custom Install, printer driver / MP Drivers, and then perform the installation.

8. Execute the downloaded tool for confirming the Canon PIXMA Wireless Setup Assistant "CNMNPHLP."

9. Read theLicense Agreement, and then click Yes when you accept the agreement.
10. The tool "Canon PIXMA Wireless Setup Assistant" is launched. Confirm that the same access points are listed
in the following window as the ones in the Access Points window (step 7).
Select the access point namethat you are connecting to, and then click the "Copy Network Key."

When the access point name


is specified, "Copy Network
Key" button can be selected.

The access point name is the same.

11. Click the access point name(s) specified in step 10 in the Access Point window (you will find the name(s) in
"Detected Access Points" there.). Now you enter a network key: Drag the cursor to the Network Key "Input
box" and right-click the mouse to select "Paste." Or, while holding the "Ctrl" key, punch "V" to enter the network
key copied in step 10. Then, click "Connect." When there are the same access point names, you can select any
one of them.

12. When the setup is completed, the Setup Complete dialog is displayed.

When either the following message "The printer could not be connected to the specified access point, "or the
"Set Printer IP Address" dialog is displayed, the entered network key may not match with the access point you
specified; then, click OK / Back in the following window to open the Access points window. Confirm the correct
access point name and repeat steps 10 through 12.
