Professional Foundations - 3 Courses (12 Credit Hours) These courses
help students understand the scope of activity, historical development, future
direction and trends, and typical types and roles of organizations that operate
within a career eld.

Professional Concentration - 4 Courses (16 Credit Hours) These courses
allow students to focus on a specic professional area within the larger
industry sector in which they are working or wish to work, and master the
skills needed to excel in that area. Students choose a concentration area from
their degree program.

Further Studies Options (Electives) - 3 Courses (12 Credit Hours)
Further studies allow students to customize their degree and develop a
broader perspective within their industry.
Research - 1 Course (4 Credit Hours) This course prepares students for
graduate level writing and provides the tools to facilitate effective research.
Capstone - 1 Course/Project (4 Credit Hours) This is the culminating
academic endeavor of degree programs at University College. Students
explore a problem or issue through a focused study and applied research
under the direction of a faculty member.
Graduate Certicates
University College also ofers graduate certifcates for students who
would like to focus on specifc subject areas and enhance or add a skillset.
Certifcates require completion of 24 credit hours and typically take one year
to complete this includes four required concentration courses and then
either select two courses from further studies or select two courses ofered
in any of the other program concentrations, program foundation courses,
or research course. Certifcate credits earned may be applied to a masters

in journalism, including research, reporting, and editing positions
with the New York Times and the Rocky Mountain News, she
earned her masters degree in communication. She now hosts
the ground-breaking, nationally syndicated, primetime PBS
program Latin View. Every week a panel of experts discusses
and debates issues that concern the Latino community.
